I had my diagnosis about a month ago, though we suspected it for three months or so. I say i've probably had it my entire life, seeing the symtoms. *sigh*

I was diagnosed 5 months ago. Is there any way to tell how long you had celiac before a diagnosis? I’ve always felt sick after eating as far back as I can remember, and looking back on it had many of the other symptoms too. Makes you wonder how long it was affecting me before diagnosis.

I do not think there is anyway to determine how long you had celiac disease before a diagnosis.  You can guess based on symptoms but remember than some celiacs are asymptomatic.  The important thing is to recover from celiac disease by adhering to a strict gluten free diet.  ?

6 years but I suspect I had it since childhood I had constant stomachache and threw up a lot. It just took being admitted to the ER to finally get diagnosed

I'd like to suggest nuts.com. They have a gluten-free section. I've never had an issue  and their nuts are super fresh tasting. I eat them every day as afternoon snack.  They label the packages as gluten-free, and more and more as Certified gluten-free. Here's their statement on gluten free:   Gluten-Free The FDA is the only regulatory agency that oversees all claims about food, including the use of gluten-free. A product can be labeled "gluten-free" if it contains less than 20 parts per million (ppm) of gluten. Other third-party certification programs have developed processes and standards for their “Certified Gluten-Free” labels. Some of our gluten-free products are certified by the Gluten-Free Food Program (GFFP), the most comprehensive certification program endorsed by the National Celiac Association. Our certified products contain less than five parts per million (ppm) of gluten.

My D was always low. It got better with gluten free diet, but was always below range or barely in range. I tried increasing D vitamins, found that K2 helps absorption of D. It improved a bit, yet remained on low end of ok range. After covid and bad flu years, i really wanted to get my D way up. We live in the Pacific Northwest, do lots outside 3/4 of the year, but sunshine is not abundant here in winter, when you are covered up anyway. I finally bought a vitamin D lamp. I doubt that the cheapie ones sold on places like Amazon are effective. Sperti makes one that uses florescent tubes, but I went with the Chroma LED Vitamin D lamp. They're not cheap, but I'm feeling a big difference. I haven't had my D levels checked yet since starting it this winter, but my hair has been growing in thicker like crazy, which is a sign of good D levels. Also, in spite of being around a few people who were ill, we haven't been sick with cold or flu...knock on wood. You will need more D than what is in your milk. Take a good high dose D3 and make sure it includes K2, or take a separate K2 at same time as D. I've been taking Life Extension Super K. Vitamin D needs acidic stomach to absorb, so don't take with anything that suppresses stomach acid. Get more sunshine 🌞 If all that doesn't get your D levels up, consider a vitamin D lamp, which I consider the best investment I ever made.

Hi Knitty! Thanks for the reply! I can do squat but with alot of trouble and power. I will take all You advices in consideration and explore them further.... I am really lost in all of this...i mean villious atrophy can create soy, gluten, milk, casein....i mean what is left to eat? So when i had first EGD histology was MArsh 3b. After 1y on gluten free diet and smaller intake of milk (mainly i was eating and drinking lactose free products) histology was OK and Villi was normal...although marked as "please repeat EGD because one of the sample was not representative". But mi Gastro doc says it is OK and i can continue gluten free diet. So my questions are: 1.can i eat milk now or i am still trouble with casein/lactose...?  2. Can casein create villous atrophy in duodenum  because i need to repeat in some time new EGD due to semi faulty histology sample? Also BEST WISHES for NEW YEAR and Hollidays for everyone in this community!!!

Hello! I would appreciate help understanding my 17 year old daughter’s celiac panel.  Symptoms are general stomach discomfort, daily headaches (for years), fatigue. My husband is in process of being diagnosed as well.  test results: Demidiated Gliadin Abs, IgA - negative  Demediated Gliadin Abs, IgG - negative  tTG IGA - negative  endometrial antibody IgA - negative  tTG- igG - weak positive Immunoglobulin A, Qn, serum - *low* 72 (range is 87-352) vitamin D also very *low* at 21 (range 30-100) From what I’ve read the combination of deficiencies in vit d and immunoglobulin A plus weak positive tTG-IgG can indicate Celiac disease.  Thoughts?

Just the blood tests originally, which lead to the biopsy. The original blood tests and what they provided are lost, though I don't recall any hard evidence that it was related to celiac. They found a few polyps, but couldn't link them to celiac or gluten-intolerance. I have been under my own and my doctor's assumptions this whole time.
