Good Morning fellow PA friends,

What a messy day we have to look forward to. I got a call at 6:15 this morning saying not to come in on time if I was going to venture out at all. It had iced all night so half our windows you cannot see out of, they are glazed over.

John still went to work, I could not sink it into his head that it was not worth it to go out on those roads. He did make it although it was a mess and there were accidents.

Now I am thinking about the things I am going to do today, maybe a big jigsaw puzzle, maybe organize my cupboard which have gone messy. I am hoping to find a good book to curl up with too. Aww possiblities.

Patti, how's the ice out your way? How far away are you from us?

Hi Angie :D

I'm just seeing this this morning.

We only have an inch or two of snow--but have had freezing rain/sleet since last night. It's still coming down--and I can hear it hitting the house. The roads are bad--ours hasn't been treated yet, although the main ones have.

All our schools and some businesses are closed, although my husband and son went to work.

It's supposed to stop this afternoon.

We're probably 3 hours from you--2 1/2 from Lancaster.

Stay warm, and no walking on the ice for you! :)

Judy, Amanda, zansu (and everyone)--take care!

I'm so glad everyone's safe. You know, the New Yorkers and northerners are probably laughing like crazy reading this thread. :) You would think we got feet of snow! :) It is pretty bad here though. My husband made it up the driveway with the snowblower, but he said it barely cut through with the ice crust being as thick as it is. Our mailbox is gone thanks to the snow plows. I'm just happy we haven't lost power. Our windows are old and crummy, some are only single pane, and we freeze when the power goes out. Heck, we freeze sometimes even when we have power. We have to get around to fixing these windows this summer if we ever want to sell this house.

Wow, Patti, you're pretty close to us then! Where in Jersey are you located? Are you anywhere near Sesame Place? I think that takes us about 2-1/2 hours on the turnpikes.

Amanda, how much snow did we actually get? 6-8 inches??? It looks like quite a lot, especially since it rained all night. I didn't think we'd have much snow left at all after all of that. I certainly was surprised when I took the dog out this morning.

Yea--not too far away! I live just over the Burlington-Bristol bridge in Burlington Twp.

Sesame Place is in Langhorne which is not far at all. Funny thing is, years ago while we still lived in Syracuse (our hometown), we took our boys to Sesame Place! My youngest loved Sesame Street. This was back in the 80's. At the time, I never dreamed I'd end up living here :D

The sleet has all but stopped now--hopefully that's the end of it.

I know what you mean about people in upstate NY and other locations that normally get a lot of snow laughing at us! My dad gets a kick out of our schools closing for a few inches.

Angie-I am not sure how much we got, it looks like a lot though. I just saw a news update and it says it is going to start snowing again soon, and we could get a few more inches. It looks like rain out there right now but you can hear it hitting the house as ice.

Here in Bucks Cty, we only got an inch or two of snow, but lots of freezing rain all night - through at least 8AM this morning.

School is closed, and this teacher is VERY happy to have a day to regroup!

The students have been so anxious for a snow day - they've been bonkers for weeks!!

It's not doing anything outside now, but it IS windy!!! We have an exterior door in our bedroom that wasn't locked, and this AM a huge gust of wind opened the door and one of the hinges broke!!!

Fortunately, we could pull the door into the door jam and lock it in place.

Looks COLD out there. BRRRRRR.

Enjoy the winter wonderland!

YEA, snow!!!

Patti, you're less than an hour from where I used to race!!! There's a track in Bridgeport, NJ, Bridgeport Speedway. I used to race micros there a few years ago. It's a great little track. Don and I both raced there. That's the only track I ever won at, I even set a record there. I was the first female to ever win a feature on the 1/4 mile track. Don and I were also the only married couple to win features in the same night there. :)

I hope it keeps snowing today. We already have so much of it, we might as well get some more. So long as we don't go over a foot or so of snow, I'm cool.

My family is in NEPA and they are expecting 2 feet. :o

Two feet?!?!?! Ugh!!!

I bet Tory would love 2 feet though, Imagine all the snowmen and snow angels you can make....and you can make a fort too!

So John made it home ok, and he brought me flowers. Sweetie! We then started to dig my Sante Fe out, that is a lot of ice and snow and it took us an hour! They are now plowing out our parking lot with a bulldozer but it is a big complex so it is taking some time.

I offered my shovel to a girl who was digging her car out with a small scraper. She said there were many men who shoveled out their cars and didn't even offer to help....rude. This is a time when we should help each other.

Happy Valentines Day from snowy PA!

Hi Scott, i think You misunderstand me i am confirmed seronegative celiac but i still feel shity. I do not eat GLUTEN or Lactose. I am on gluten diet for 1year now and i am still dropping weight and muscle and still feel shitty. I have done every possible test regarding abdomen... Does somebody anybody have similar or same situation....? Thank You

Given that she had a weak positive tTg-IgA blood test for celiac disease, and she gets symptom relief from a gluten-free diet, she could be in a pre-celiac disease stage, and might develop full blown celiac disease (villi damage) if she continues to eat gluten. At this point, even though her biopsy is negative, she may want to stay gluten-free. As @trents mentioned, she likely has NCGS.
    • Scott Adams
Approximately 10x more people have non-celiac gluten sensitivity than have celiac disease, but there isn’t yet a test for NCGS. If your symptoms go away on a gluten-free diet it would likely signal NCGS. Have you had symptom improvement on a gluten-free diet? If so, you may be in the NCGS area. Also, are you eating oats, and have you tried cutting out dairy/casein?
    • trents
Probably NCGS then and there is also the possibility of an H. Pylori infection.

Scott thank you. Finally found the oreos and they are a winner.
