See's Chocolate Candy (e-mail From Them)

Someone was nice enough to remind me of these forums and I wanted to forward an updated letter from See's Candy (I don't know about you but I was a bit frustrated finding a heart valentine without gluten! I found ONE and it was completely inedible from walmart and I had to return it.)

If you don't have a See's its a fairly older chocolates store such as a godiva shop ect.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thank you for visiting Sees.com. Our Quality Assurance department has

advised that we have recently reformulated our products and we have

eliminated wheat as a direct ingredient in all of our candies.

Therefore, none of our products contain gluten as a direct ingredient

and cross-contamination is no longer a possibility.

We do wish to advise that our Malt Truffle contains malt powder and the

vinegar used in our Butterscotch Lollypops and Little Pops is grain

based.

We are still in the process of changing our packaging labels and expect

to have this completed during the upcoming year. Some of our product

labels still list wheat as an ingredient. However, this is no longer

the case.

I hope this information is helpful. Thanks for your interest in See's

Candies. We look forward to serving you soon.

Sincerely,

Ian Dickie

Thank you so much for posting this. I contacted See's a couple years ago and found their gluten-free list to be very short. This is good news.

That is great news! I was just sitting at work looking at the ing. list for a box of Whitmans chocolates which are made in factory which contains wheat amongst other things, and was wondering about See's because they are my favorate chocolates, my family has them every holiday. Thanks!

Hi! Yes I have, endoscopy didn’t show anything other than celiacs. I’ve been wondering if it’s possibly that my intestines are so damaged that the wine is irritating because they have not fully healed. Very odd, I felt better for a few weeks and then all the sudden started noticing the pain again after the weekends when I drink wine (don’t drink during the week). I’ve also heard that dull left side pain isn’t a common symptom with celiacs so my diagnosis was surprising to doctor as well though the pain did initially subside with gluten-free diet.

Welcome to the forum, @Celiacsugh! Have you been checked for a gastric or peptic ulcer?

@Juliana82, Is the bleeding occurring when you throw up?  Or with bowel movements?  Constipation?  Is it bright red or black and tarry?  Anal fissures?  Crohn's or Colitis?  Alcohol consumption?   Diabetes, Thiamine deficiency and anemia can cause false negatives.  Most diabetics are deficient in Thiamine.  Thiamine deficiency can also occur due to high calorie malnutrition, eating lots of carbohydrates but insufficient Thiamine from dietary sources.   The Gluten-Free Diet for Celiac Disease: Critical Insights to Better Understand Clinical Outcomes https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10537989/

Hi There! Recently diagnosed, have been gluten-free for 3 months. My main symptom at time of diagnosis was upper left dull side pain, burning, constant. After going gluten free it has improved dramatically, however I’ve noticed when I drink wine on the weekends the pain returns. Has anyone else experienced this?

In the US you don't need a referal to see a specialist if you are self pay. PPO you can go directly to any specialist or doctor you prefer. HMO you’ll choose a primary doctor to manage all your care. Pricing of the insurance will vary, as will prescriptions coverage.
