I am not actually diagnosed yet for celiac disease. But, due to my family history it probably is. So, I went to my doctor to find out what I had at this time I did not know what was wrong with me. He believes it is diabetes. Which I find absurd since there is one person who has boarder line diabetes in my family and that is my grandmother no one else. So, I thought I would do my own test I ate gluten products for lunch and sure enough my stomach felt pain, and had to go to the bathroom very fast. Fast forward a bit and I started to use marijuana (illegally) to aid in my stomach problem and to help me gain weight. At the moment I am very underweight for my age which is 18 and only 113 pounds. After doing a small amount of marijuana it aided me in relieving the pain and giving me the munchies. Which then allowed me to gain more weight. The only problem was my mother found out about me smoking marijuana. I told her the reason behind why I smoked it and she understood but, told me to stop wasting money on it. So I agreed. After this I continued to lose weight and have had stomach aches. I really would like to be placed on medical marijuana. I would take a pill but. the problem with that is I am afraid of swallowing pills. So, I am debating whether to buy marijuana illegally to aid in my health or to just try to change my diet. I dont really like vegetables but, with marijuana it aided me to eat them since when i was "high" I just wanted food to eat.

PS: I just had a sandwich since I was hungry and now I am in pain and have already went to the bathroom. So, I am sorry for the confusing story. :(

If you're gluten intolerant, and I couldn't tell from your post if you had tried the gluten free diet for at least a month at some point, then you need to be gluten free. No drugs (legal or illegal), but just a change in diet. If you're waiting for testing... Well, first I wonder what they're waiting for, just do the test already. Second, you may just have to wait (on a gluten filled diet) until the testing happens. And third, you have the option of testing with the diet itself, to see if that helps.

You don't need a doctor's permission to go gluten free.

Welcome to the forum.

While pot can help to alleve some of the symptoms and increase your appetite it will not help you to absorb more nutrients and calories from what you are eating.

If you are 18 and 113 lbs and I am assuming male, you need to be aware that if you are gluten intolerant or full blown celiac your growth is being adversely effected. As is your skin, your brain, your muscles and joints. The inflammatory process that gluten causes is a full body process.

You are still at an age where you can regain some of the ground you have lost. It is not going to be harmful to you to be gluten free, it could be just what your body needs.

I would hate to see you waffle about it for so long that any deficits you have are no longer resolvable. The reason I feel so strongly about this is in my signature.

I know this is an old post, but maybe it will help others if you're not reading this PaulH. Now that you're 20, you can pursue medical marijuana, but as the other posters have mentioned, "DO NOT wait on a real gluten tolerance test and gluten-free diet." You can save a lot of misery that's hard to consider when young and relatively healthy. Also, many people without an "official" celiac diagnosis are helped immensely by avoiding gluten (and other grains). The damage that untreated celiac can do to your body is more than all the marijuana you could ever smoke.

As to marijuana, it can certainly help with appetite and nausea in most people with little side effects. But here, were talking about dealing with symptoms, but a gluten-free diet is currently best "cure."

My TTG was 167 one year ago. Recently had it retested one month ago and it went down to 16. I only recently had an endoscopy done as I was pregnant within the last year. I did not eat gluten prior to this endoscopy as I get very sick. Prior to obtaining the biopsies, the endoscopy said “ diffuse moderately erythematous mucosa to the second part of the duodenum without bleeding.” However, the biopsy came back negative. I assume it’s a false negative as I have also had genetic testing to confirm celiac. However, what would cause the inflammation to the second part of the duodenum and continued positive blood markers if the intestines have healed?

Thank you for direction.  Eating out is a concern though we rarely do, but I'm prepared now.

Thank you for the update.  So interesting to know how things are changing, when I was diagnosed I had very similar blood results but still had to have the endoscopy.  Glad you know where you stand.  As your father has celiac disease you probably already know a lot about it, but do contact us if we can help further.

But isn't it easier to just take a D3 supplement? Is the D light somehow a superior source? Links?
