How Long Does It Take To Recover From A Glutening?

So last week I ate a doughnut. I knew what I was doing--after a month of being gluten free I decided it was time for a challenge, plus I was at the tail end of having my parents and my in-laws for a week. You know when you just are so tired that you don't give a sh$% what you eat? That's where I was. The pig-headed part of me also still thinks that maybe gluten is not really affecting me the way I thought. I have felt like you-know-what ever since. I first got D, then I felt like I was getting the flu--fever, nausea, brain fog, headache...that went away and I had the most awful stomach cramps, gas, bloating, and then D all night long. Since then I have been moody, VERY cranky (just ask my poor family), gassy, etc. How long will this last??

Everyone is different. It could take a while...my guess is, since it has been a week, you are probably at the end of it. I've been gluten-free for just over 4 years now... and was accidentally glutened yesterday at Easter dinner. I'm gussing 2 days until the D goes away, 3-4 days for the stomach pains, and about a week for two for the body-aches, headache, fogginess to subside.

Good luck, Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks, Ruth, actually I do feel much better today. I'm just always curious what other people's reactions are and how long it takes to recover--it's a good guage to go by. I suppose it also depends on how bad the glutening is? I'm sorry you're not feeling well--hope you're better soon!

Glad you are feeling better. I think as time goes on, most of us get more sensitive to even the smallest bit of gluten. I have determined it was the Heinz shrimp cocktail sauce that made me ill. Usually, I make my own from Heinz ketchup and horseradish... I thought heinz cocktail sauce would be fine WRONG!!

It just makes me wish feeling so bad came from something worthwhile like real pizza or real oreos!!

Oh well....

I'll just ride it out.

Take Care.

So I got curious and looked up the address of Global Food and found that their listed address is the EXACT same as the Roastery Coast nuts, the original product that I found the Global Food Gluten Free Certification on. Global Food and Roastery Coast are the same company. I'm seriously cracking up at how sketchy it is.  ROASTERY COAST OFFICE 40222 La Quinta LN B102  Palmdale, CA 93551   Global Food Office Address: 40222 La Quinta LN, STE B-102Palmdale, CA 93551   Business Hours: Monday - Friday: 8:30am to 5:00pm   Telephone: 661-977-2300   Email: info@globalfoodcert.org

The only good part I see in their response is the gluten free facility.

Yeah, it's just a marketing ploy.
