The french fries are gluten free. I order mine "well done and cheesy"

Talk to a manager and they will make your burger separately (otherwise the buns can cross contaminate)

Here is how I order mine

"Double Double with cheese, protein style, no sauce....cheesy fries well done".

the sauce isnt gluten free???

The sauce would be gluten free, except they slap it on with a spatula out of a vat, then the spatula goes back in the vat, etc...so it gets a lot of CC from the buns. The ketchup and mustard are in squeeze bottles and are gluten free.

I order mine : Double-Double, protein style, ketchup & mustard instead of sauce (sometimes with, sometimes without onion). This is about the only time I ever eat cheese, but it is so worth it!

I love their burgers. I only have a few fries that I steal from my kids. They are gluten free, but I try to limit my unhealthy fats, and the burger with cheese is plenty! The drinks and shakes are also gluten free. Pretty much everything but the buns and anything that comes in contact with the buns...

FYI,

you can also order it this way

"Double Double, Flying Dutchman, cheesy fries well done" -- flying dutchman means just meat and cheese, nothing else

or this way

"3 by 4, flying dutchman, cheesy fries, well done" - this means 3 pieces of meat, 4 pieces of cheese, jus meat and cheese...

LOL

google "In N Out Burger Secret Menu" and have fun...

Okay, I've got to ask...cheesy fries well done? Is this extra crispy fries with cheese on them? My kids would love the extra crispy fries, but not the cheese. My boys don't eat cheese. They never have and they even hate the smell of cheese. Now milk, yogurt, ice cream, shakes, and pretty much any dairy product is fine. But not cheese. Weird kids huh? ;)

My kids like to order the Z-burger protein style! That is just meat with nothing on it (zero toppings hense the Z) wrapped in lettuce. Some of them eat the lettuce, others eat the meat out of the lettuce and usually I eat their extra lettuce. My daughter who does like cheese won't eat the cheese there. She likes cheddar, rarely eats american cheese. I don't think she likes the texture on the burger. To me it is pure heaven! Cheese is the main dairy food I miss being dairy free. That is why I treat myself to it occasionally at In-N-Out.

Yeah,

You can simply order the fries "well done" and they will make them crispy.

I just like the melted cheese on top of them too :)

I use to work at in n out for 5 years. You do need to be careful on the protein burger as

well. When working the board the same person touches the same burger buns all day

and then touches the lettuce wrap. Same as the cook, touching the buns and the meat. If

you do get protein style ask for ketchup and they have mustard packets ask for those instead

because some board associates will spread the ketchup and mustard on the lettuce wrap with the same spatula and not just squirt it on. Animal stlye fries are good too. With spread, mustard and cheese and grilled onions..mmmmmmmm.... I miss those burgers that I use to eat everyday

that i worked there. They also have banana peppers that are good too.:(

My brother has worked for IN-N-Out for over 20 years! We just recently found out that we have celiacs and of course I called him to ask...everything I read is correct, but there was one thing missing. In-N-Out is founded on customer service. If you let them know that you have a severe reaction to products containing gluten and ask that they use fresh gloves for handling food and new utensils, they will be glad to accomadate you! so if you like the sauce....just ask they use a new spatula! happy eating! :D

if you really like the sauce, you can ask for a side of the special sauce, it is packaged in a to go packet like mustard...safe from touching the grill of the spat

I can't remember which one I went to, but they opened a fresh tub of sauce, grabed a clean spatula and slathered the sauce on the fries right in front of me. I know it looked like overkill to the people behind me but it kept me from getting sick.

Is the sauce soy & casein free too? I'd love to have some on fries, & I didn't know they had individual serving-size packets of it!

FYI

I was just recently diagnosed celiac and read about in n out on this forum.

I was just at in n out and there is major cross contamination, although they grill the buns on a "separate" grill, they finish it off on top of the burger on the MAIN grill where they grill the protein style burgers.

I spoke with the employees there and explained my situation but there was not much to do because this is how they do it there.

If you are sensitive at all to gluten BEWARE! I get sick for 2 days from stuff like this..

I would stay away from in n out, don't get me wrong I LOVE IN N OUT, but if you don't want to get sick keep it in mind..

I can't really find any ready made food spot that is NOT cross contaminated....

I order a cheeseburger, protein style, with ketchup, mustard, onions, and I think tomato. Fries, too.

I REQUEST that they change GLOVES and prepare mine on a clean TRAY and NOT on the counter.

I request that they use a clean grill and utensils.

If I'm ordering with other people, I order separately so nothing will touch their bun.

If I order with others TO GO or in drive thru , I request SEPARATE BAGS to avoid cc with buns.

I have to say, I moved to the East coast this summer and I thought I'd miss In N Out, but FIVE GUYS ROCKS! Wa-aaay better. THe fries, the grilled array of toppings, the free peanuts, all of it!

@glucel, I agree with @trents.  You can still do the AIP diet while taking aspirin.   I'm one of those very sensitive to pharmaceuticals and have gotten side affects from simple aspirin.  Cardiac conduction abnormalities and atrial arrhythmias associated with salicylate toxicity https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/3952006/ Another part of the problem is that those drugs, aspirin and warfarin, as well as others, can cause nutritional deficiencies.  Pharmaceuticals can affect the absorption and the excretion of essential vitamins, (especially the eight B vitamins) and minerals.   Potential Drug–Nutrient Interactions of 45 Vitamins, Minerals, Trace Elements, and Associated Dietary Compounds with Acetylsalicylic Acid and Warfarin—A Review of the Literature https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11013948/   Aspirin causes a higher rate of excretion of Thiamine Vitamin B1.  Thiamine deficiency can cause tachycardia, bradycardia, and other heart problems.  Other vitamins and minerals, like magnesium, are affected, too.  Thiamine needs magnesium to make life sustaining enzymes.  Without sufficient Thiamine and magnesium and other essential nutrients our health can deteriorate over time.  The clinical symptoms of Thiamine deficiency are subtle, can easily be contributed to other causes, and go undiagnosed because few doctors recognize Thiamine deficiency disorders. Thiamine deficiency disorders: a clinical perspective https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8451766/ Hiding in Plain Sight: Modern Thiamine Deficiency https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8533683/ Celiac Disease causes malabsorption of vitamins and minerals.  Supplementing with essential vitamins and minerals can boost absorption.   Our bodies cannot make vitamins and minerals.  We must get them from our diet.  The Gluten free diet can be low in Thiamine and the other B vitamins.  Gluten free processed foods are not required to be enriched nor fortified with vitamins and minerals like their gluten containing counterparts. You would be better off supplementing with essential vitamins and minerals than taking herbal remedies.  Turmeric is known to lower blood pressure.  If you already have low blood pressure, taking turmeric would lower it further. Polymyositis is a rare autoimmune disease that makes your immune system attack your muscles. Any autoimmune disease is associated with low vitamin D.   Even as a kid I had weak legs.  Now I feel the burn just walking to the mailbox. A case-control study found that patients with polymyositis (PM) had higher lactate levels at rest and after exercise, indicating impaired muscle oxidative efficiency. The study also found that an aerobic training program reduced lactate levels and improved muscle performance.

Micronutrient Inadequacies in the US Population "A US national survey, NHANES 2007-2010, which surveyed 16,444 individuals four years and older, reported a high prevalence of inadequacies for multiple micronutrients (see Table 1). Specifically, 94.3% of the US population do not meet the daily requirement for vitamin D, 88.5% for vitamin E, 52.2% for magnesium, 44.1% for calcium, 43.0% for vitamin A, and 38.9% for vitamin C. For the nutrients in which a requirement has not been set, 100% of the population had intakes lower than the AI for potassium, 91.7% for choline, and 66.9% for vitamin K. The prevalence of inadequacies was low for all of the B vitamins and several minerals, including copper, iron, phosphorus, selenium, sodium, and zinc (see Table 1). Moreover, more than 97% of the population had excessive intakes of sodium, defined as daily intakes greater than the age-specific UL" My Supplements: Vitamin D 10,000 IU (250 mcg) DHEA 100 mg  (Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) levels in the body decrease steadily with age, reaching 10–20% of young adult levels by age 70. The paleo diet is based on the idea that the human body evolved to consume a balanced ratio of omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids, and that the modern diet is out of balance. A healthy ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 is 1:1–4:1, while the modern diet is closer to 20:1–40:1. The paleo diet aims to restore this balance.

Best thing you can do for them! First-degree family members (parents, siblings, children), who have the same genotype as the family member with celiac disease, have up to a 40% risk of developing celiac disease. Make sure you and they get enough vitamin D and iodine in their diet.   Iodine deficiency is a significant cause of mental developmental problems in children, including implications on reproductive functions and lowering of IQ levels in school-aged children. Vitamin D deficiency is common in the United States, affecting up to 42% of the population.
