Gluten-free Slim Fast Drinks

I have been trying to do a diet for a few weeks now. I always fall off the wagon. So, while in the Giant today John and I were in the diet section and I was looking at the Slim Fast drinks. John actually caught this before I did, on the top of the shelf are new Slim Fast shakes and in big letters on the label they are made Lactose and Gluten Free!!!! I also think this is a big step up for us. I know there are some on this board who have been talking about weight loss products. If this was mentioned before I apologize for the repeat. It was just exciting.

Hope this helps somebody.

I've been drinking these for a while. They're good, pretty much taste like the regular optima shakes.

I didn't buy them, I am still deciding what I want to do. The can said Lactose free so I can't help much here.

oh thats ok. I have a feeling after all my stress of trying to find them, that once i do I wont like them or they wont be casein free lol. I think i will email slimfast again

I am like you im not sure what i want to do to lose a few pounds yet, a part of me thinks i should just start running or walking again

I really would like to join a gym, but I need a partner to motivate me, John should go too, he could use the diet and losing a few pounds.

I do eat the one flavor of the South Beach diet bars, but since they taste good I eat them more because they are gluten free and a good snack. It defeated the point.

Since going gluten free I gained 20 lbs...and it is showing in my stomach area, thighs, and a little bit in the rear. I feel so ugh when I am putting my clothes on anymore. I feel I look dumpy.

Ann1231 Enthusiast

They are good. I will definitely keep buying them and I won't eat or drink anything that doesn't taste good.

Here's the upc code:

0834622425

Hope that helps!

Ann

This is the statment from Slim fast are they Gluten free, or are the ready made drinks different? I could't find gluten free on any of my cans. Maybe thier old.

Are Slim-Fast Optima products gluten free? I have Celiac Sprue and want to use the powder shakes.

As you are aware, having the condition Celiac disease prevents you from eating such grains as wheat, rye, barley and oats. We do not guarantee that any Slim-Fast product is gluten-free. All of our powder shakes clearly state that there may be traces of wheat in them. As for our other products, the ingredients we purchase could potentially be cross-contaminated with wheat or another common dry ingredient you are sensitive to also. A small amount of gluten is potentially present in Slim-Fast from the fibre source. And, ingredients change often, based upon availability. For these reasons, we cannot say that Slim-Fast Optima is gluten-free.

A few months ago they came out with specific "lactose and gluten free" ready made shakes.

Does it say on the can they are made in a factory with other wheat products?

not that I can find. I've never had trouble with it and I have a wheat allergy along with celiac disease so I would definitely know within seconds if I'd had any wheat contamination.

I recently saw a TV commercial for this--they only *said* "lactose free", but they showed the front of the can and for a second, you could see where it says "gluten free", too! :D

It's a start! ;)

This is exactly what I was thinking, a start is at least at attempt to include us.

Let us know what you find out, the reference ranges should appear on the original test results.

Hepatotoxicity DOES happen with kratom. It happened to my husband. He turned yellow with jaundice and his urine became brown. This was only after taking it three times. I know because I was the one who gave it to him, unfortunately. People should realize that it can and does happen.

No other tests. This was from about 10 years ago, I noticed it when checking through my all bloods to look for patterns.  I will go back to my doctor...

Were there any other tests besides the EMA run for celiac disease? If not, you should request them. At minimum, "total IGA" and "tTG-IGA" should be ordered. A more complete celiac panel would also include the DGP-IGA, DGP-IGG and TTG-IGG. And very importantly, you should not have been reducing gluten consumption in the weeks/months leading up to the testing blood draw.

I'm looking into it. I have several quite low vitamin results which I believe may be from malabsorption. B12, ferritin, folate, vit d all very low. Re-occuring mouth issues, gut issues.
