Anyone know if these have any gluten or lactose in them? Is there a way to check? Does anyone know if tomato juice can be gluten and lactose free?

Thanks guys

Good morning:

In the US maltodextrin is generally corn derived. All of V-8 entire line (to include Splash) are gluten free to date.

The best way to always know what is safe and unsafe is to be an expert are lable reading.

Maltodextrin can have wheat in the UI.S., but if so it absolutely must be listed in food and drink.

Never seen dextrose or tomato juice with gluten.

Celiac.com has some very helpful lists of safe and non-safe foods and food addatives.

Here's a quick link to the list index

info on foods

You get to this by clicking on "Site Index" at the top of your screen - on the left just below the Celiac.com logo, both on the horizontal and vertical link bars.

I keep a 3-ring-binder with printouts of lists, replys from manufacturers about specific foods and ingredients, etc. At first I took it shopping with me for quick reference when reading labels.

Welcome to the forum, @RobHicks! Actually, celiac disease damages the upper part of the small bowel rather than the stomach. It's the part of the intestine right below the stomach. Since being diagnosed, have you had a follow-up endoscopy with biopsy to check to see if there is good healing in the small bowel lining since beginning the gluten free journey? You may have something else going on besides celiac disease. From what you describe, it sounds like your stomach is not emptying properly. Have you presented this problem to a GI doc?

Still waiting.  The Barrett's I've had for 5-6 years. The possible/probable Celiac is new this year.  Not sure why that's popped up, but there it is.

Wanted to see if this was true for anyone else. My celiacs was undiagnosed for years and I think my stomachs overall function has been permanently damaged. I have to stay upright after eating, cannot lie down sit down for too long or swim or I will end up with a stomach full of half digested food and acid that i throw up later. I also can not eat anything greasy or fatty without severe reflux and will probably throw it up later too. Is this anyone else’s experience too?  Even after being gluten free for years your stomach is weak and needs gravity to properly digest?

I hope you don't have to wait too long until her endoscopy. Is she able to bring her lunch with her in the meantime?

Terry, I was diagnosed with Celiac disease and Barrett's from the same scope back in 2013. Did your endoscopy biopsy result confirm celiac or are you still waiting for that result?
