Hi Ladies

Joni, I just found out that the couple that was wanting to buy our house just pulled out :( that makes me really sad and I can't tell my husband right now because he will just want to not move because he feels funny about leaving the house empty, I really don't blame him. Plus he does not need another reason not so sleep, even though I am working tonight and I won't be there to keep him up with my snoring. I am half way through with Medical Transcription class, mine is taking 6 months but there are other programs out strickly on the Internet, and they last anywhere between 4 to 24 months and are Associates programs some of them. I found this program that I am in on the internet and my work Reimbursment for school has my school on the list of approved schools. I am able to either go to campus and study there with an instructor there to help you out or I can stay at home study on the internet with my books if I have any for that class. I have the option of taking my test at home which I have done becuase I did not have time to drive up to school or I had my daughter and I don't want her to stay away from me while I am taking my test so it makes it easy, and they work with you on that.

I have been doing good on my food, but not so great with my idea of drinking more tea and less soda drinks. Yesterday and the day before I had 2 coke zeros each day, I guess I am saving my last 2 tea bags for today because I am almost out of everything grocery wise so I am getting creative on my foods.

Hey all! I requested to be part of the group earlier this week AND then got sick. Sorry. WOW I am VERY reactive to rice. Whenever I consume it I gain SERIOUS weight. Of course when you are ill Chicken and Rice soup is the best. So I am one of the few that gets sick and GAINS weight. I gained 4 pounds in 3 days! I will be stepping up the workouts next week and I am sure it will be gone by Friday. Today I will start posting my meals as I should be eating regular again (South BEach Regular)

Todays PLAN, I enter my food into FitDay to make sure I have enough calories and fat, protein and carbs are proportinate...I havent done that yet this morning so this may change a little :)

B: Egg salad (1T Mayo, 1 t pickle relish and mustard) and yogurt

S: almonds

L: Chicken salad (same as above) on a bed of lettuce

S: cheese stick

D: Steamed Tilapia, broccoli and salad with light ranch

S: Sugar Free Jello and SF cool whip

BTW my daughter has been back on gluten after 1 week gluten-free and has complained of stomach aches again AND her behavior is terrible! Anyone else notice gluten and behavior changes in their children? My husband is making fun of me when I told him I think it is the Gluten...his response was "that gluten is sure a devil" SARCASTIC MAN!!!! :)

Since it's Friday, I'm weighing in - 160 straight up. Haven't lost or gained, which is good, because I certainly haven't been very careful. Darn tortilla chips. I eat all the good for you stuff - it's just that I mix in a lot of naughty stuff too - snacking is my issue, for sure. Maybe I haven't gained because I've been burning more calories with the DDR. Plus, I've been working in the yard - now that's a workout. Spring is coming, so it's time to stop ignoring the weeds, and to ammend my summer gardens. Time to change the avatar. Football's over :( / sunshine's on the way B) !

My Dad seems to be doing okay. Nothing conclusive yet - he has an appt with the urologist end of month. The ER Doc told them not to worry too much - could be as simple as a kidney stone that caused damage, so at least my parents are able to relax a little and not sit around fretting about the worst.

Oh - I got jury duty next week, starting Friday. What the heck am I going to eat? I'll have to bring nuts & stuff I guess. Last time, I wasn't gluten-free, so I just fast-fooded it. Can't do that, now can I?

So, have fabulous weekends, ladies.

Donna, so sorry about the couple pulling out of the house, especially after all that time. Maybe someone else will come along soon. Spring is usually a good time to sell.

Sorry you got sick shanluts and gained weight. Rice must really cause you to bloat.

My son has not been tested yet, but I have noticed that he gets totally miserable if he goes to a party or has excessive amounts of gluten. At a Halloween party and Christmas party he came home and was miserable and up during the night complaining of stomach aches. I think it definatly makes a difference for him so I really have a feeling he has a gluten intolerance. I'm still not sure if I'm going the formal route on testing or just going to try the diet for a couple months. I'm waiting for both kids birthday's to pass before we decide about the diet.

I am in a full blown head cold, other than that I am doing pretty well. I have had regular milk this week because I was out of my Lacto free milk and I was too lazy to buy any more of my own and so I thought that since it had been awhile since I have had any regular milk that I would be ok, well today I was wrong yep the big D and Im talken about Dallas or it could have been the Sudafed that I had been taking or the Niquil, those were the only things that could have triggered it. The only thing that I have done over the weekend is laundry, dishes and homework.

My food from what I can remember from Friday

Up at 1pm from my drug induced coma Niquile

D- SOS (Scrambled eggs and hamburger meat and gravy from rice flour) The SOS stands for poop on Shingles don't ask but it is good, I guess it is a southern thing. I had to substitute sausage with hamburger years ago before I found out about gluten ever affecting me because you can imagine what it did to me.

B- Coffee

gluten-free waffles

L- amy's cheese enchiladas

coke zero

D- left over SOS

Coke Zero

Sunday

B- coffee

Scramble eggs with candian bacon and cheese on gluten-free english muffin

Off to blow my nose once again, if our stupid wheather would make up its mind about fog, rain, sleet, or snow, stay cold or stay warm. We just had our first winter wheather warning which turned out to be just rain and temps were almost freezing and today we go back up to the mid to high 60s close to the 70's and next week possible for another round of winter wheather warnings no wonder I am in the middle of a cold, or the beginnings of an upper respitory infection, hopefully its just a cold.

Oh, don't get me started on CHOCOLATE. And the whole girlscout cookies thing ... my niece called a couple weeks ago (they're in Arizona), so I bought a couple boxes & told my sister to go ahead and keep them there - but, how can you not buy cookies from your niece? SAMOAS, they were my favorite.

Hi Stacie,

Welcome. I wouldn't bother to read everything. That would be a serious chore ! I sometimes weigh in on Fridays. I'm terrible about posing my food, but, like, Donna, she's pretty consistent. I don't know ... it keeps you honest !

What are the patches for?

I won a basket in our Girl Scout Chinese Auction fundraising event and in it was a yoga mat, exercise ball, 2lbs hand weights, and a coupon for a free pilates class. Well I was so excited to win it and then found out the class time would conflict with my schedule. I called to see if I could change to a different class and I can...an will be starting the 19th. I think this is just the boost I need right now because now I need to get in shape before I go, lol (at least a little). And it's a great excuse to go buy a new workout outfit or two.

I'm holding on with my weight, but have not been eating as healthy. I need to go grocery shopping tomorrow and get some more healthy stuff, I'm totally out of decent snack foods.

Welcome Stacie, jump in whenever you wish. Some people like to post their weight on mondays, some on fridays. We're pretty flexible here and you can surely post your meals whenever you'd like. I've just been lazy about tracking things and not very consistent.

Donna does really well though!

In March 17 years ago, I was 110 wearing a heavily altered size 2 wedding dress!!!!!9 and I still had to stuff the top! UGH!!!! I doubt I will ever fit back into that thing!!! 3 kids and 3.5 years of breast feeding have changed some body parts and no amount of weight loss is gonna fix that!!

I'm not gonna post food as that will make me super OCD but I will post my exercise goals since I really would like to be fit for once in my life. I would like to lose 50 lbs but will celebrate if the tummy gets flat and the arms stop flapping. Of course that may take some surgery. :ph34r:

My goal is to DO (not watch) 2 20 minute videos or 1 40 minute video each day.

I happened to watch somebody's show the other day about a lady that lost a ton of weight and they were going to do surgery to remove ___kid you not______ 40- 50 lbs of excess skin off of her mid section!!!!!!! I nearly fell of the couch. I thought WOW! They are going to remove from her what I need to lose! I don't remember how big she was to begin with but it was enough to motivate me!!! If I start now perhaps I can flatten everything again. THey sure seem able to do that on the biggest loser. THey get into super shape and you never hear of them removing excess skin. And they drop 100+ lbs . How do they do that??

Welcome Stacie glad to have you here.

Thank you all for wishing me better, I do feel better Tylenol sinus works wonders. The Sudafed and Nyquil did not really help me but as soon as switche to Tylenol it made me feel better. I think that the sudafed was messing with my stomach or all the phlym really did a number on me. But I am still having a little runny nose, no snezzing thank goodness.

I guess I am too a little OCD about posting, I have been told by a this new girl at Work that I have been oreintating that she noticed that I have OCD tendecies, I said yes I guess that I am. I am not OCD to the point that I have to have everything perfect straight in a row or perfectly clean. My OCD usually affects how I work, I do like everything organized when I am working. I can't stand caosis and working in the Nursery can be when all the nurses and tech come to weigh the babies it becomes caosis, ok I'm getting off subject.

I have been off all week and my OCD wanted to concentrate on my homework instead of posting my meals I did ok with my food until Last night. Ok so here is most of what I can rememmber of my meals. Ok nothing comes to mind about the first of the week so how about starting today.

Today Friday

I am working for the next 3 nights, don't have a clue as to what is for Breakfest, Lunch or dinner.

I finally ordered and recieved my Enterolab test kit, I know that this is not an official diagnoses but I think that it will help me if it shows anything and i will be really mad if it does not.

Just wanted to share,

I just remembered if any of ya'll watch Intervention, a couple of weeks ago they had a different show about this guy who weighed over 500 lbs, the guys ex-girlfriend Heather I work with her and she said that he has lost 95 lbs and his dad has lost 45lbs. Heather was heavy in this program to she at the time on the intervention had already lost 40lbs and that was in September of 07' she is now down to 75lbs, I think that is great.

Seriously though, I think my body has recovered from its little food roller coaster and I'm down three pounds. Not quite the ten I was stamping my foot about earlier, but hey, I have 40 years or so to lose this. May as well do it slowly and consistently.

3 slices cheese for snack

7 rice cakes with PB&J for dinner :ph34r: (hey! I was hungry!)

Not expecting such a long day at work today, so food should be better

already had 2 of my three fruits (um, and 2 pieces of dove dark chocolate, but that's a rarity)

I'm probably gonna be out of this for a while. But I'll be back when I can make sense of things. Here's where I'm at right now:

Waist: 34 1/2 ... Weight 159, so I'm at least down a half inch.

So, I sat in the jury lounge for 3 1/2 hours only to be excused - so, good news there.

Before I go, an update on my Dad: We found out yesterday that it's most likely bladder cancer. They found 2 tumors. If he gets through the next couple weeks & they get it early, there's a pretty good survival rate. Problem is he has a lot of risk factors for surgery: diabetes, high BP, cholesterol, obesity, so, it's the general anesthesia I'm concerned about. I used to bill for anesthesiologists, so I'm prepared that it doesn't always go so well. I'm worried about my Mom, and I don't know what to do about either of my sisters. It's been a rough couple of years. My Dad's really depressed & I hate that. I'm just confused right now - I think I may have to call on some therapy this time. I don't know.

Anyway, didn't want to bring anybody down.

So, good luck with all your diet and exercise goals. "See" you soon.

Kat, I really hope for your Dad's sake that they caught this early, and for your mom's sake as well this is not just a person he is I am sure to each other soul mates. I think that you are doing the right thing by getting professional help, and also sounds like your sisters need it too. I think that everybody will keep you and your family in our prayers especially for peace in your family during this difficult time. Just keep yourself healthy as well, well keep things going here ((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))) to you and your Dad and MOM.

I just hope that everybody is doing ok with your diets, I have been busy with my school, I have 10 1/2 weeks to go, maintaining my B average, but A&P is kicking my butt a little. I am trying my best with my diet but sometimes it is hard and I have not wieghed myself eighter.

Hey Everyone,

I think I've finally found my motivation! I started taking karate with my son 2 weeks ago and I love it! I also started the Pilates class that I won 1 week ago. I actually went out a jogged 2 miles today. I really hope taking the classes is all that I needed to get me back exercising. I hate when I go through these slumps.

I also had an ear infection and have been taking antibiotics for a couple days now. I think that has really helped me to feel better.

Kat, Hope all is going well with your Dad. Please come back and post when your ready!

Donna, 10 1/2 weeks to go. Good for you! Keep that B average going!

Hey Stacie, good luck with your goal. I've always been afraid of lyposuction. It's a scary thought, but kind of amazing that they can take off so much weight like that.

Stella, thanks for the tip on losing belly fat. That is my problem area for sure. If I ever flatten mine, I think it will be a miracle!

Hello everyone....i'm new to this and really need some help...i was diagnosed in Sept. /04 and gained at least 30 pounds....now am down about 20 and the last 10 are the hardest.....can't seem to budge even though i run and work out like crazy...could be the hormones kicking in ????.....menopause can't be helping either at this stage....any suggestions would be helpful since i don't have anyone else to really talk to that is celiac.....thanks and i'm looking forward to meeting others who have this illness and understand what we're going through....thanks, Janet

      I also have food particles left on toiet paper when i wipe and my stool is light yellow not absorbing fats. I urinate about 15 times a day and have very sticky snot,dry throat.

      Hi all, I was diagnosed by blood work about 2 months ago and have since went on a strict gluten free diet. I have an endoscopy in January and the GI dr said nothing about staying on gluten for it; hes aware i went no gluten. starting to heal symptoms include: (this is huge) sensation coming back to genitals and when having a bowl movement. everything has been numb for a long time down there including lower belly button area. good size (not abnormal) bowel movements once a day or every two days. small dot size wart just fell off my finger that was there for years. have not broke out with a cold sore this winter (every winter prior for years i would develop a cold sore on my lip) Ongoing issues I don't sweat. not from my hands, or armpits or feet. I do not get butterflys in stomach. my hands have been so dry for years ive been using a crack cream as they crack and bleed very severely in the fall and winter.  (since going gluten free ive not used crack cream but they are still very very dry and chapped/flaky, no sweat or moisture in palms of hands at all. I dont crave food. i have no cravings at all, not for pizza, ice cream , nothing. my cravings are dead. smell of foods kinda make me hungry, but my stomach blocks it. pins needles in feet get weak legs standing up from sitting and dizzy, things almost turn black. i cannot tolerate veggies or vitamins. Iam vitamin D deficient according to my Dr and Ive tried vitamin D pills. they give me a massive migraine for 8 hours and upset my stomach. the heat from the direct sun make me extremely tired to the point of wanting to pass out. again i don't sweat. broccoli gives me a migraine headache as well. mushrooms, bell peppers burn my stomach. fruits burn my stomach, fats (peanut butter, any oil or fat from meats make me sick to my stomach for a couple hours or longer. salt and pepper burns my stomach. all these issues cause pain at my belly button area and expand to the rest of my upper stomach and sides the more i ingest through out the day. I currently eat bland basmati rice, chicken, pork chops (fat trim), boiled russet potatoes no skin for three meals a day. my snacks are gluten free ground buckwheat flour pancakes. (just water, no oil , salt, dairy.) how am i to get vitamins in my system if i cannot tolerate them in my stomach? i mentioned epidermal vitamin patchs but dr said no. why cant i stand the heat from the sun ? why cant i sweat? thanks for any info.

      Because you have significantly reduced your gluten intake over a considerable amount of time, it is likely that you will test negative on the antibody tests. However, if the $112 for the Quest test is not a burden, it wouldn't hurt to try. It tests for total IGA (to ascertain if you are IGA deficient) and tTG-IGA. If total IGA is deficient, it can result in false negatives in other IGA tests. The tTG-IGA is the single most popular test ordered by physicians. The Quest test is not a complete celiac panel by any means (refer to the linked article above) but it might be a good place to start. Personally, I think you know enough to conclude that you need to get serious about avoiding gluten, whether you have celiac disease or NCGS. Human nature being what it is, however, many people seem to need an official diagnosis of celiac disease in order to stay on the bandwagon. Otherwise, they seem to rationalize cheating on the gluten-free diet. And there is this misconception out there that NCGS is inconvenient and uncomfortable but not harmful so it's okay to cheat. The more we learn about gluten-related disorders the more they seem to not fit into our neat little black and white categories. By the way, celiac disease is not a food allergy. It is classified as an autoimmune disorder.

      These responses are all extremely helpful, ty.  Really good reminder about omega 6.  I also know I'm low in zinc; I took the zinc test where I drank it on a spoon and couldn't taste it.  To that end, I try to eat a lot of oysters.  I do think it would be a good idea to get the blood test.  Two questions: 1-  Is there any reason you wouldn't recommend that I just buy and take a test like this as a first step? 2- I've been somewhat gluten free since ~Jan 2023 (technically organic, gluten free, soy free, light on dairy).  I eat a lot of meat, vegetables, rice -- a common breakfast for me is three eggs and a sausage link, and I can't remember the last time I had a sandwich or bread.  However, because in my mind I didn't think I had an allergy, and I more was doing gluten free to avoid artificially iron-enriched foods, I do make exceptions.  I'll eat breaded calamari.  When my Dad visits, I split mozzarella sticks with him because he loves them so much.  I'll eat the "gluten sensitive" items at a restaurant and if they asked, "is cross contamination ok?",  I always said yes.  Based on that, since I never probably fully eliminated gluten, but it was significantly reduced... is that good enough to take the blood test?  Because the pain in my side gets SO bad (really sometimes I can't function, and I absolutely thought I was dying), I am hesitant to do the gluten challenge.  Would it make sense to take the test, and if it's negative, then consider doing the challenge and seeing if I can deal with eating the bread every day?       For me, with osteoporosis, Celiac and more than 1 heart condition, the slower, safer route is preferable.  I'm on 5 meds per day.  Too much of anything can disturb absorption of this or that. Have a Happy Thanksgiving.  I'm gone for a few days.
