Hi Ladies

Welcome JanetB25, glad to have you here.

The better I do with my class the easier it will be for me to get with a really good company that employs people to work from home. But I think that you have to have an A average to get any kind of offers from the #1 company for Medical Transcriptions who is based out of Boston I think.

I am trying to good on my diet, I got my Enterolab results back everything is a little elevated, so that will help me to do better.

My meals so far for this week

Monday

B - coffee

gluten-free maple buckwheat flakes

D- sw chicken salad from Spring Creek with my own dressing from home

coke zero

Tuesday

coffee

B- scrambled egg with gluten-free canadian bacon, cheese on gluten-free English muffin

tea

D- gluten-free 2 enchiladas

coke zero

Today

B- 2 gluten-free toast

coffee

no idea what is for dinner, I am working tonight and for the next 3 nights so I have to make my dinners for work because the opitions up at work are absolutely horrible even for everybody else.

Happy eating ladies

Hi Ladies

I have been trying really hard this week to be really good with my diet. I have worked the last 3 nights Mon, Tues, and Wendsneday so it is really hard to tell how I feel because I am still kind of tired from working and I am not sure if the Tea that I am drinking has gluten in it. Its TZO China green tips tea, I am sure that it is safe to drink, especially when I had a hard time sleeping when it was time to sleep after work that is. I am thinking that my tiredness is due to not getting enough sleep between shifts.

Here are my meals for this week:

Monday

B- Rice cereal and Lac milk

coffee

D- gluten-free waffles

2 32 oz teas spread out through the night

D at work gluten-free Spegetti with cheese and gluten-free enlish muffin with butter and garlic

Tuesday up at 1:30pm

Coffee

D- gluten-free sandwhich with turkey,cheese

2 32 oz teas spread out through the night

D- at work gluten-free sandwhich with turkey, cheese, alfafa sprouts, avacodo

salad with sunflower seeds

Wednesday

up at 1:30pm

coffee

D- gluten-free sandwhich with turkey and cheese

vitiman water

2 32 oz teas at work

D- tuna salad with almond crackers

sunflower seeds and 3 baby pickles

Thursday

Up at 1:30pm

coffee

D- Frito Pie with corn chips

vitiman water fruit punch

water

Today Friday

B- gluten-free hot cereal with brown sugar and gluten-free toast

carmal mocciato from star bucks

not idea what is for dinner tonight

Hi, it's me, fajitas (changed my username)

Hey, Donna,

I've never heard of TZO ... tea.

Anyway, how's your class going? It sounds like a lot with work & home too. You must be so busy.

-----------------------------------------------------

I stopped posting for a while.

I've gained 4 lbs with my 12 day attempt to quit smoking and the family stress (stress situation is way better).

My father's okay right now. He has bladder cancer and they don't know whether the cancer has spread to the prostate or is metastatic. They removed a large tumor and he has 6 weeks of treatments - not radiation or anything - it's kind of a preventative measure. He'll have another biopsy in a few weeks, and then, hopefully, we'll know more.

Spring has sprung here. I'm ready to get with the program. Everything is so awesome here - I'm getting some workouts in my gardens (that counts, right?). My goal this week (by Sunday) is to do at least 45 minutes of cardio 3 times. Also, to make better choices (substitue sweet potatoes for potato chips kind of stuff) with my food.

Take care, ladies

Hey everyone,

Donna, sounds like your still going strong on your plan.

Hey Kat, nice to hear from you. Glad things are improving. Quitting smoking is tough, but you will be so glad when you finally do it for good. Good luck!

I have gained 5 lbs. and it makes no sense. I started doing karate and pilates classes about a month ago and started back up jogging 2 weeks ago. What in the heck is going on???

I also started on the Anti-Candida diet about a week ago. Haven't been on that long enough to see a difference but I've got to get my weight back in check. Any have any ideas why my weight would shoot up like that after starting exercise. HELP!

I'm going back to my food journal and maybe can figure out why the weight gain.

B: 1 apple, 1 tsp. all natural peanut butter, 1/4 cup Bob's Mighty Tasty Hot Cereal

L: 20 pieces of mixed nuts, 2 ounces of cooked roast beef, 3 baby carrots

S: 1 egg and gluten free flax toast

D: 1 hamburger, 2 small gluten free pierogies

S:

Exercise today: Pilates class (1 hour), Karate class (1 1/2 hours)

Will edit later!

Hi everyone,

I haven't been on here for ages, but wanted to check in and say hi. Basketball season got a little too busy to allow me much time online. My team had a great season and we went to our state tournament and finished 8th! I was an assistant coach and my 14 year old daughter moved up from JV to be part of the team for the district and state tournaments. Fun stuff! And now I have an extra 20-30 hours a week!

I have pretty much maintained my weight, which is good considering how stressful the last couple of months have been. I've still been working out, but have been eating on the run too much. So I'm hoping to stay on track now (doing well for the past couple of days) and start dropping those pounds.

Last time I weighed myself I was at 169 - hoping to lose 19 pounds by June 15th.

little d Enthusiast

Hi Ladies,

It is great to here from all of ya'll,

Kat I'm sorry I mispelled the tea it is Tazo, made in Portland, Organ. I got the tea from Starbucks.

Bellyfat : My classes are almost at the end after this weeks test out of A&P will be the beginning of the Transcription classes a total of 8 weeks left and I will have an extra week to play with because I tested out early of the Medical Terminology but A&P is kicking my butt. In both subjects breifly mentioned Celiac Diease. Yes I am kinda busy this week is Spring break for Hannah and it is really hard to study.

Liz I happy the you posted good to here that everything is going great with you and your family.

My daughter had a little accident at school during PE and she feel over a ball and fell flat on her little tush and did not tell anyone that she was hurting until I picked her up at school and saw the pain in her face. I did not realize how much she was hurting until I saw her try to pick something up from the floor and she could not bend down to pick it up, so I made and appointment for the doc the next day, fortunatly not broke just sprained.

My meals so far:

Saturday:

B- Bob's hot cereal with 2 gluten-free toast

coffee, lacto free milk

vitamin water fruit punch

D- gluten-free chicken casadillos

coke zero

Sunday

coffee

B- 2 gluten-free waffles

lacto free milk

D- 2 Pork chops, butter nut squash rice, carrots

coke zero

vitamin water fruit punch

Monday

B- coffee

scrambled egg, gluten-free & lf cheese, and gluten-free bacon on gluten-free english muffin

Tea

D- thia kitchen noodles peanut with chicken

Tea

Tuesday

B - 2 gluten-free toast

coffee, lacto free milk

Tea

I have been having a reaction to something that I ate or ingested earlier in the week or later last week I am thinking that is cheese in the meals that I made or something from my husband, or maybe the Bob's hot cereral just gave me the fiber I needed to go extra, I did have it 2 days in a row. At any rate I will eventually figure it out.

Happy eating ladies and good to here from everybody. :D

Hey Liz, glad to hear from you! Congrats on the team finishing 8th in the state tournament. You must be very proud. I bet you'll be glad to have that extra time now.

Keep us posted on your progress towards your goal. I'm setting a goal too. I'm aiming for 10 lbs by June 1st. I know it will be tough, but do-able.

8 weeks and counting. Your close now! At least they mentioned Celiac Disease. I doubt they would have 10 years ago. Hannah's spring break seems so early. I thought ours was early and it's 2 weeks away.

Poor Hannah! It sounds like she took a pretty good spill to be that sore. At least she's on break and can relax and heal a bit, hopefully.

Yes! Spring Break usually falls with the School district that we live in but not this year, Hannah goes to a private school, the kids are not that favorable to be around. She has even gotten some of the little holidays that she has not in the past. My father-in-law is a bus driver for the school district and he drives the kids home from the tutorials that they attend afterschool and he may go everywhere because these kids cant give him directions to where they live. But Tution for her school is going up too much so we are trying to get her into another school that has great kids and teachers with in the district that we live in.

If she does not fall over the dog, the big lug wants to get right behind you and lay down or lay infront of you when we or especially me when we(I) sit down and you forget he is there and splat your on the ground. But because she missed a day last week because of her fall she has makeup work to do and she also has another 18pages that she decided not to do in class and got in trouble for. The teacher put her work in her folder for homework and she decided to take it out and put back into her desk because she was a fraid of gettin into trouble by me. Well she got into trouble anyway she learned her lesson so her Spring Break is doing her work that she decided not to do in the first place. This is not the first time that she has done this so we are looking into going to a Pschycologist to seek out answers, because ADHD and ADD runs in Kevins family so therefore everybody thinks that Hannah will have it too. My mother-in-law thinks that meds will cure it, You know I really don't. I don't think that is the answer for everybody who might have ADD or ADHD in every case, I did not give in the GI doc who wanted to put me on meds for possible IBS. Ok I sorry I ranted off a little there got off the subject of diet so here is what I have had in the last 24hrs.

Yesterday

B- coffee

2 gluten-free toast

lacto free milk

L- I was starving at 2pm breakfast was at 7am

gluten-free brown rice tortilla with sunshine patty and gluten-free cheese

tea

D- not really hungry but ate anyway

gluten-free rice flake cereal

Tea

Today

B- gluten-free waffles

coffee and 1/2 glass of lf milk

No idea what is for dinner, I am working tonight so it could be anything.

Hi everyone!!

I'm really excited I found this website!! I've struggled with my weight all my life, a support group sounds like a great idea!..ive been celiac since 2006 but find it very challenging at times...I am a runner who has been diagnosed with arthritis in my foot, I haven't been able to run for almost three months ( it gets a bit depressing) and i seem to slowly be gaining weight!! i used to have to only lose 12 pounds and now i need to lose thirty.... HELP!! lol

the support is just what i need!!

HOW IS EVERYONE?

UR Groovy Explorer

Hello pinkrockstar,

Welcome.

Hi everyone,

Well, I've been good with food, bad with exercise for the last couple days.

I'm on whole foods + chicken & fish now. We'll see how that goes. I have to make enchiladas this weekend. Hopefully, I can refrain from eating too many. Oh, but they're sooo yummy.

pinkrockstar Newbie

Hi everyone!!

my name is Jen...I forgot to say that last time!!..my eating was good today..I am going to start my excercise back up on sunday!!

hope everyone had a good day!!

Jen

shae22 Newbie

Hi I'm Shae and I would like to join your support group. I am having trouble staying gluten free these days. I am in the mist of feeling really crappy right now. My stomach looks as if I'm 5 months pregnant....and I'm not.....

So I will start posting here and hopefully with the support of you guys I can lose some weight. The problem I have now is every time I hit the gym and really get into a routine I get sick...like a cold. I also start eating gluten in some form for some unknow reason. I must like to make myself sick. So I'm assuming that it's because I'm exerting myself and the gluten is making my body unable to recover. Anyone else have this problem???

So my current weight is 155, I'm 5'4" and I would like to lose 15lbs. I am some what muscular so I have never been really skinny. So I will start posting my meals when I keep track.

Thanks for the support.

UR Groovy Explorer

Hi everyone :) ,

So, Jen & Shae,

This thread is kind of weird. Like, I'll stay away from posting because I feel all guilty about my diet or I just don't feel like thinking about it, & then, I'll get inspired & come back. It'd be cool if we all posted regularly. Anyway, how are you guys doing?

________________________________________________

So, check this out:

Beginning with Happy Hour Friday, all I ate all weekend was really bad stuff. I ate a whole gluten-free Pizza myself over the span of the weekend, I ate Stuffed Grapeleaves, Nachos, & whatever else I could get my hands on. I got so bloated - my ankles were so huge & uncomfortable on Sunday. By Monday morning, I was up 5 lbs (water retention) from last Monday (which is in addition to the 5 lbs. I gained recently). So, that put me at 170. It's been a while since I've seen 170 - about 3 years.

There's a point here. I decided to skip all the sodium Monday (I ate rice & fruit only and water - only for a day). By 2pm, I had dropped 5 lbs of water weight. Is that crazy?

So, here I am Tuesday - at 164. Let me tell you: seeing 170 on the scale scared me straight. I'm ready to really put a serious focused effort into getting rid of the lumps & bumps & cellulite.

Anybody with me? I'm going to the gym 2 times before the weekend & go for walks every day. I'm lookiing for 45 minutes of light to moderate cardio every day. I don't need a lot of structured wweight training - I'm strong as a horse right now from working in the yard, although, I could use some postural trainging. The food shouldn't be a problem - I can get down with the veggies & lean protein

I'm going to post Friday on my progress - I'm putting a reminder in my calendar.

okay i am just coming in here for the first time! i have lost almost 40 lbs since i went gluten-free and i have 10 more to lose until my goal weight! i am really cracking down on eating well and exercising so i can get rid of them before the summer! i think being accountable will really help! my weigh ins are on fridays!

Guest hightop girl

You can count me in. I am new to this forum and to celiac- gluten free life in general. I realized something was wrong when I started gaining 5+ lbs per month. Since trying to be gluten free in August, I lost about 25 pounds, but recently gained 5 back. It might just be muscle from working out so much, but I would like to lose that 5-10 again. I love that I train for a marathon, run 20 miles on a Saturday only to have gained weigh the next day. Any suggestions?

Joni63 Collaborator

Welcome Jen, Shae, LoveIsntMade and hightop girl! Nice to have you all!

You can post your daily meals and weight in each week to check your progress. Many of us aren't consistent about posting, but Donna is really good about it!

I also gained 5 lbs. when I ramped up my exercise. I have no idea why so I'm counting calories and measuring all my food again. This has worked for me in the past. Good luck everyone!

B: Apple, carrot sticks, 1 Tablespoon peanut butter, 1/8 cup cooked quinoa

Exercise: Jog 2 miles, karate class

I loved the old weight loss support thread and was active on it, but it kind of died and lots of the people who were on there no longer post here. Would anyone else like to join me in a new thread where we can encourage each other, give advice (when asked for), support each other and have a way to be "accountable"?

I lost 12 pounds earlier this year, but have gained 3 back. I'm looking to lose 15 more by the time school starts in the fall. I need to eat relatively low carb - lots of lean chicken, turkey, fish, non-starchy vegetables, moderate amounts of fruit, nuts, avacados and 1-2 small servings of grain products a day. No sugar, chips, junk food or processed food. I'll be giving up chocolate until my birthday on Sept. 3rd. It helped last time - I gave up chocolate for Lent.

I hope some of you will join me! Jerseyangel, Kaycee, Fajitas, Electra? Anyone else?

Hi Lonewolf,

Where do I sign up. haha :D :D

In that photo, which is 2 years old now. I was 117 lbs. Which was the smallest I've ever been and I was in my best shape ever then too. I lost quite a bit of weight then, over 30 pounds in 2 months due to some extereme family problems/ tramas... Ideally I'd like to be back to 125-127 range. In the past 2 years, I've put on 15 odd pounds. Now 140. I eat the same as I did then, only difference was my son started preschool (which is a year round school, specialized school for autistic kids). So because of lack of sleep reasons, and an over extensive (some days) activity schuedule, I can not fit in that 1 hour of cardio/weight training I used to do, back in the those days. I've tried a number of times to do a half hour routine at 11pm at night, >seems to be my only free time most days. But, after 3 days I just stop. Either too achy or just too tired to do it.

I also homeschool my oldest child, which takes alot of my day time, we do try to include gym times, but they are about 3 days a week, and sometimes are just a walk around the block. My oldest is also involved to 2 other sport activities a week, so she gets her exercises.

Anyhow for me, I'd just like some kind of motivation in terms of keeping up with the exercising. But, I'll never give up chocolate, not dark chocolate. :D I still lost weight while eating it before. :P

I'm not that consistant if I have not been on to post since March 12th, started to post a couple of times while at work or here at home but got interupted by my daughter or babies, at work.

But welcome to LoveIsntMade and hightop girl, I think I have said hello and welcome to Jen and Shae welcome all glad to have everybody.

I have been busy as most of ya'll know with school trying to kick A&P's butt instead it kicking my butt, which it started to but I was finally able to pass with a C, I had a strong B before going into this class so I am thinking that with this mid C that it did not affect my B grade too bad. So I am now into my medical transcription class, I have not actually transcriped anything but that is soon to come.

Ok here are my meals and I an still holding at 147lbs at least I am not gaining still. I have not been able to go grocery shopping so my meals are a little wierd

Monday

dinner at work at 1:30am

32 oz tea

brown rice tortilla with gluten-free hot dog and cheese

salad with carrots, colliflower, and sunflower seeds

vitamin water fruit punch

SNK 1 cup sunflower seeds

up at 12pm

coffee

D- brown rice tortilla with herbal garden sunflower patty

coke zero

Tuesday

coffee

B- gluten-free wildberry waffles

No idea what is for dinner, I'm sure it will contain hamburger meat since that is the only meat that I have left in the house.

Happy eating ladies, I gotta get busy on my lessons

I am sorry I haven't posted. I was out of town for a funeral... which leads to this post. I am pretty frustrated. I think I must have had some gluten. I really didn't eat much while gone for the 2 days. Yesterday I had the following:

Breakfast: 1/2 serving (3/8 c) gluten free cereal with blueberries, a banana, and oj instead of milk and 6 rice crackers

snack: 7 dates with 1 t. peanut butter and 6 crackers (the crackers only have about 8 calories each)

lunch: protein shake: 1/2 serving protein powder, 6 strawberries, 1 t peanut butter, some chocolate syrup, and a banana

7 dates and 10 crackers

snack: same as morning snack

by afternoon I was expanding.... stomach looked pregnant and huritng. I went for an 8 mile run.

dinner: same protein shake, but no peanut butter in it or banana. and sweet potato chips (about 8)

That is pretty much it. I think I did have about 8 regular Lays potato chips because I was needing some salt.

In addition to running 8 miles, I also biked for 30 minutes last night. I had been in pain and gassy, retaining water etc for about 24 hours. I got on the scale this morning (after having the runs last night) and I have gained another 3 lbs since monday!!!! I started out in early February at 113, today I am at 123. I can try to accept that some of it is muscle gain from A LOT of working out, but not the 3 lbs since monday. Flying always makes me retain, but so does gluten. To top it off, I am wondering if one of the bananas I had was going bad. It was like something was fermenting in my stomach. So I am going to try to cut out the snacks today. I am at a total loss. THis is exactly how my problems started. My weight started going up uncontrollably. 5-8 pounds with every cycle. Help!

Hey hightop girl,

Are you lactose intolerant or casien intolerant, by any chance. I'm dealing with bloating issues myself and have cut out all lactose and casien. I've lost 2 lbs and think my stomach is starting to shrink.

Like you I started gaining weight like crazy. I ended up gaining 5 lbs one week.

In your case with all the exercise your doing, it's probably a combination of the bloating and increasing muscle mass. I always gain weight when I bloat.

Hope you find your answer!

Hello Megra!

I don't know how this would count on Weight Watchers points, but I eat Perky's Nutty Rice Cereal. The ingredients are: rice flour, rice bran, raisin juice concentrate, honey and salt.

It's 210 calories for 3/4 cup.

1.5 fat grams

No saturated or trans fat or cholesterol

110mg sodium

46 grams carbs (this might be the killer)

2 grams fiber

5 g sugars

4g protein

Oh I also eat:

Bob's Red mill Mighty Tasty gluten-free Hot Cereal:

Ingredients: Whole grain brown rice, corn, white corghum, buckwheat

150 Calories for 1/4 cup (It's very filling)

1.5 grams fat

No saturated, trans fats or cholesterol

5 mg sodium

31 grams carbs

4 grams fiber

0 sugars

4 grams protein

They are both in the gluten free section at my local Shoprite.

I've been doing really good with exercise and dieting. I won't post all my food for the last week, but I've lost 2 lbs so it's working!

I do so much better when I journalize everything that I eat! Yes, even the gluten free jelly beans I've been sneaking!

Have a great day!

Hi everyone! Once again I'm back, feeling guilty that I've been so "bad". I was doing well for a while, but have gained a few pounds back. I just looked at some pictures of myself and am motivated again to get started (again). So today is another new start.

I need to get back here regularly to post my food intake and weight. I'm up to 172-ish  and I am NOT happy. I'm 5'7, so I'm not obese, but it's too much weight on my frame - especially when I carry so much of it in my chest. It makes working out frustrating and I feel like I'm a very bad example to my students in the PE classes I teach. My goal is to get to 150 by the first day of summer. At that weight I actually look pretty good, so I would be happy to stay there, although I would like to get to 140 eventually.

How would you all feel about starting a new thread, so new people might feel more comfortable joining us on page 1, rather than trying to jump in on page 37? I won't start a new one unless several of you think it's a good idea. Let me know what you think! (I guess anyone could actually start a new thread - I'm really not in charge.)

Hi Again Lonewolf,

I hear you on the bad and then feel crappy days, cause of not exercise or eating wrong foods.

I am also 5 foot 7... weighted last week at 141. I don't want to be super skinny like in my photo for here (2 yr old pic). I was 117 then. That was too small for me. But, I'll admit, damm!!! I wish I had that 35 inche hips again. It's something like 39-40 now ... I'm just upset cause I've gained back 20 odd pounds in 2 years. I'm really worried I'll return to the 157 range I went too after having my son, 4 years ago. I wasn't huge >due to my height so on >but I was dumpy looking.

Even though I lost big time weight due to major family traumas, I'd love to be that small again. > I was as small as I was in my 20's. And who don't want to have the body of a 20 year old again :D

Motivation to exercise is my big problem. I can only do it at 11pm or later at night. My schedule is over swamped most days. Other than 1-2 odd ones. My son is not a good sleeper, is austitic and goes to bed late. As I like to workout with headphones on >feel the groove! so to speak. I can't do the exercise till really late at night.

I need movitation, in a body that is already zonked before it begins.

I wonder with the "thread" part. Would it not be better to have a whole seperate posting topic area (new forum topic)_here for this venture. I don't want those who are this posting area, to feel we are taking away from their concerns about wanting the opposite >to gain weight.

thanks

Hi I have celiac disease and the dermatitis herpetiformis rash Also other autommune diseases.  I have had bad side effects to all the vaccines I have had and now my Doctor wants me to have the pneumonia vaccine.  I am concerned because of some of the bad side effects I have had in the past example Hep B after shot couldn't  move arm for several months.  Flu shot and COVID was sick right after shot. Told not to get anymore. My lung is inflamed and have a cough I can't seem to get rid of. Very concerned 😟.

@Manaan2,  I'm so happy to hear you're going to try thiamine and magnesium!  Do let us know the results!   You may want to add a B 50 Complex with two meals of the day to help boost absorption.  Thiamine interacts with each of the other B vitamins which are all water soluble.   When supplementing magnesium, make sure to get sufficient calcium.  Calcium and magnesium need to be kept in balance.  If you choose a calcium supplement, take two hours apart from magnesium as they compete for absorption.  Take Calcium with Vitamin D.  Vitamin D helps calm the immune system.   For pain, I use a combination of thiamine, B12 Cobalamine, and Pyridoxine B6.  These three vitamins together have analgesic effects.  My preferred brand is "GSG 12X Takeda ALINAMIN EX Plus Vitamin B1 B6 B12 Health Supplementary from Japan 120 Tablets".  Alinamin is another form of thiamine.  It really is excellent at relieving my back pain from crushed vertebrae without side effects and no grogginess.   Look into the low histamine version of the Autoimmune Protocol Duet (Dr. Sarah Ballentyne, a Celiac herself, developed it.)  It really helps heal the intestines, too.  It's like a vacation for the digestive system.  Add foods back gradually over several weeks after feeling better.   I'm so happy to have pointed the way on your journey!  Let us know how the journey progresses! P. S. Add a Potassium supplement, too.  Potassium is another electrolyte, like magnessium, that we need.

@knitty kitty I can't thank you enough!  My husband and I already started looking into those supplements.  We definitely plan to give it a try.  We've been against the Miralax since it was originally advised by PCP, but because of the level of pain she experienced on a daily basis, we decided to try it.  We've made many attempts to gradually decrease but due to her pain and related symptoms, we've kept her on it while trying all sorts of other dietary adjustments pre and post diagnosis specific to food; so far none of those efforts have made a significant difference.  I will definitely share how she's doing along the way!

Hi, I have recently embarked on the gluten-free journey. I have what to me seems like a somewhat confusing set of test results and symptoms. I have been impressed by the accumulated knowledge and thoughtfulness as I browse this forum, so I figured I'd make a post to see if anyone can offer any insight. I know there are many posts like this from new users, so I have tried to do my baseline research first and not ask super obvious questions.  I'm 43, overall very healthy. No history of gluten sensitivity or really any of the classic GI symptoms. About three years ago I started to experience intermittent bouts of fatigue, chills/cold intolerance, and shortness of breath/air hunger (sometimes feels like a hollowness in my chest, hard to describe). The symptoms over time have become fairly significant, though not debilitating, I am able to exercise regularly and am fairly physically active, continue to perform well at work. But for example I have gone from someone who consistently ran hot, was always cranking the a/c, to someone who wears a down vest inside at work in winter and get chills if the a/c even blows on me in summer. I get tired and lose energy even when getting decent amounts of sleep, and have to have my wife take over on long drives that I could previously handle with no problems. More generally when I am experiencing these symptoms they seem to crowd out space in my mind for focusing on my family, my hobbies/activities etc, I sort of withdraw into myself.   I happened to be experiencing these symptoms during an annual physical with my PCP a few years ago, he observed post nasal drip and suggested it was allergies and that I treat it with claritin. At first it seemed to respond to claritin (though not zyrtex), but over time I became unsatisfied with that answer. There didn't seem to be any seasonal rhyme or reason to my symptoms, and I felt like I was on an endless loop of taking claritin, then stopping, not being sure if it was even making a difference. I did eventually get allergy tests and found modest allergies to dust and pollen, which didn't feel like a smoking gun.  I then started seeing a natural medicine doctor who was much more willing to explore my symptoms via testing. The first thing that came back abnormal was elevated thyroid peroxidase antibodies/TPOs, 137 IU/mL vs a reference range of <9. At the same time my thyroid panel showed normal thyroid hormone levels. So it appears my immune system is attacking my thyroid even though it is working fine. I got a thyroid ultrasound at the time, it was clear, but with some abnormalities such that they suggested I get is scanned again in a year. These are certainly risk factors for a thyroid autoimmune disease, though my thyroid seems to be working fine for now.  From here my doctor considered celiac due to the murky thyroid/celiac links, so we did a panel. Results were as follows: TT IGA <1 U/ml, TT IGG <1 U/ml, deamidated gliadin IGA 24.6 U/ml, deamidated gliadin IGG <1 U/ml, IGAs 170 mg/dL. Readings greater than 15 considered high by my lab for the first four, my IGAs are within reference range. So basically just the deamidated IGA popped, but my IGAs are normal. I also notice on the tests that my thyroglobulin was high, 86.7 ng/ml vs a range of 2.8 - 40.9.  My doctor suggested that it certainly wasn't conclusive for celiac, but it was possible, and likely that I have some sort of gluten sensitivity. She suggested going gluten free and seeing how I felt as opposed to doing a biopsy. The best theory I can come up with is perhaps I am a silent celiac or just have a gluten sensitivity that doesn't produce immediate GI symptoms, but is still doing damage and over time has caused leaky gut. So now gluten is getting into my blood, and my immune system is attacking it but also mistakingly attacking my thyroid.  So that's what I did, went gluten free in October. It's been about four months, and I am really not feeling any difference. I still get the same symptoms that come and go. My bowel movements may be a bit more regular, but it was never a major issue before so I would consider that a minor improvement. I know that it can take a while to see improvements, and I am going to remain gluten-free and see how I feel. But I am definitely questioning whether I really understand what is going on, and am open to any thoughts or suggestions from the forum. Sometimes I wish I just went ahead with the biopsy before going gluten-free. While I would certainly be down to start drinking IPAs again ahead of a biopsy, you know, for science, I feel like at this point I would be throwing away four months of work and am better off staying the course and seeing what happens. But I'm really not sure.  I know there is a lot of thyroid knowledge on these boards, along with the celiac expertise, so I'm curious if this resonates with anyone's experience. And I'm interested in what sort of timelines people have experienced in terms of feeling improvements for some of these non-GI symptoms like chills, SOB, brain fog etc. Thanks in advance.

Does it taste like black licorice?  It said it was chewable.  I do not like that flavor.     Since the burn at the back of my throat is there everyday, I usually only take something when it is unbearable and keeping me from ADL especially sleep.
