Hello,

I'm going on vacation to St Pete Florida in a few weeks and I was wondering if anybody knew gluten-free restaurants in St Pete Florida and the surroundings?

Thanks for your help.

Steph :)

Tampa Bay is home to Outback chain of restaurants so there's lots of gluten-free options within that celiac-friendly company, and the restaurants are everywhere: Outback Steakhouse, Bonefish Grill, Flemings Steakhouse. South Tampa's Westshore Mall has PF Changs and Mitchells Fish Market, both of which have gluten-free menus. Near North Tampa/USF/Busch Gardens area is Trangs Vietnamese Restaurant which is almost entirely gluten free except for some wonton type wrappers. Their noodles and soy sauce as well as rice wrappers are all gluten-free- never had a problem there. Other good bets are sushi and if you're willing to spend bigger bucks, Bern's Steakhouse which does not have a gluten-free menu per se, but is very accommodating. Unfortunately I don't have as much experience dining in St. Pete, but I'm sure they have similar restaurants. The Publix grocery stores often have a great supply of gluten-free food and can serve in a pinch. Happy Travels!

There's a Bonefish Grill at the Tyrone Square Mall and an Outback near there.

I've eaten at the Ruby Tuesday's at the Mall and had a salad bar. The croutons are far from the other items at the bar .... I don't get the potato salad, etc. because I haven't checked it out.

There is a Chick-fil-a inside the mall.

There is a Maggianos in Tampa, they even have gluten-free pasta.

There is a large health food store on Central Avenue (can't remember the name) that has a lot of gluten-free items.

There is also Carrabba's on North Dale Mabry (813) 265-9844

Bonefish Grill on the same road (813) 969-1619

Fleming's Steakhouse W. Boy Scout Blvd (813) 874-9463

I'm sure you will find a safe place to eat down in Tampa. I did.

Thank you. I already cut out dairy and eggs because I found out I was having a problem with them. To be honest I’m just getting worn out 😂

Hi Kitty, thank you for your e mail,  I have seen a nutritionist who seemed to be happy with the food diary I had been keeping and nothing was mentioned about extra vitamins, and I’m still using milk etc . The steroids seem to be working and everything is functioning as it should however,  the course of tablets finish at the end of February and I have an appointment with the consultant early April probably followed by another endoscopy, as far as I’m aware I have not been tested for vitamin B and will definitely discuss it with the doctor on my next visit.

It might be understandable to say "friends or family weeded me or you out of their lives". Some people are fearful of getting out of their comfortable known lives and having to make changes to accommodate another.   If they are too uncomfortable to walk a mile with me, I shake the dust off my feet and journey on.  They're just not ready to learn that lesson.  But you confidently keep going on your journey.  They can catch up later.

You might also be sensitive to other things while you are healing. Dairy, for example. It won't harm you from a celiac standpoint but is inflammatory and could be bothering you. Have you been keeping a food & symptom journal? Might be worth it for a week to see if you notice something you are eating prior to the times you feel your worst. I hope you start feeling better soon.

Someone recently recommended Superfoods for looking up recipes free of allergens or intolerances.  It's a web site but there's also an app.
