I Got Glutened....

So I was at a friends house tonight and since she was so afraid of cooking for me, we decided to order in instead. We ordered Chinese for her and Sushi for me which I figured would be a save choice. Nope... because I am sitting here now, horrible stomache cramps, bloated and I feel like I am going to explode any second. And the worst part is, I am supposed to meet some friends in a bit for a drink since today is my only day off this week :( I don't even want to leave the house now. Aaahhh... and I even skipped the soy sauce with the sushi and used my own stuff which said "Gluten Free"

It has only been three weeks now since I found out about celiac disease but I already feel like it's ruining my life :(

Hang in there. I glutened myself in an even sillier way during my first two weeks. I went to PF Changs, ordered off the gluten free menu, asked the waitress intelligent questions, etc. etc. etc.

Then when the meal was over, I went on autopilot and ate the stupid fortune cookie that came with the bill.

Things are definitely not perfect for me yet, but I do feel like I'm starting to get the hang of it. I continue to find "hidden gluten" even though I could already tell most dieticians their business.

Feeling sick sucks, especially on your only night off. Try to stay hydrated and do something relaxing. And come here to vent as much as you want. :-)

What a night :( I really have no clue how much sleep I got but I am so exhausted this morning. Thank god I don't have to go to the restaurant till 2pm but I actually wanted to go to the gym and work out. And I also have real bad joint pains today. My wrists hurt really bad and so does my right ankle.

I will never eat Sushi again! Never! (and i work at a Seafood - Steak - Sushi Restaurant  )

Using a pressure cooker will break down Lectins.  Long cooking times as in using a crock pot will also reduce Lectin content.   However, having tried both, going lectin free for a few weeks is like a vacation for my digestive system.  I do hope you give the AIP diet a try.  I understand that changing ones diet takes a lot of mental readjustment which is difficult, but it's really worth the effort for long-term health.

Depending on which source you research sprouting or fermentation can reduce lectins. I sprout rice, buckwheat and quinoa. However, I admit that gas and intestinal inflammation still plague me after 5 1/2 mo gluten-free. I have been resisting but I may try the aip diet at some point.

Hi @jadeceoliacuk I am a UK based coeliac and I have used a private nutritionist a few times. She is very highly qualified and having just googled her details, she is listed on this website (see link).  For that reason, I think you could trust the listings here as I am quite sure she would not want to associate with this website unless it was a professional, trustworthy resource. https://www.nutritionist-resource.org.uk/ I hope this helps. thank you knitty kitty. I will give those articles a read. Yes he is deficient in Iron and Vit D, that is all they tested for. Do you have any tips for finding a pediatric nutritionalist? He has an NHS dietician who has been helpful sending me generalised info on increasing Iron and cutting out dairy but they won't see him now for another year and I feel like I need more support than that...
