Inflammation In The Stomach

I took my daughter for her biopsy on the 29th of january. While doing her biopsy they noticed some inflammation in her stomach and her intestines were twisted. Does anyone know if this is related to celiac disease. The doctor did mention that they thought celiac disease effected the intestines but you can also see signs of the disease in the stomach.

Now I know why no one has replied to my message I did some research and found out that Ronni has Intestinal Malrotation. I am so worried I dont know what to do the doctor is suppose to contact me today regarding her biopsy I already know she will need surgery to repair her intestines but I still dont understand why she has inflammation in her stomach. Does anyone understand why the doctor would tell me not to start the gluten-free diet yet Im so confused. Im a single mother and work from 8:00 to 5:00 her doctor is in California we live in Las Vegas so its hard for me to get in touch with her doctor to ask questions. We moved to las Vegas a year ago I didnt want to change her insurance because she was sick all the time and I wanted to wait until she was healthy. But this has really been hard for us. Please if anyone has any information on inflammation in the stomach I would really appriciate it.

Hillary, I am sorry you and your daughter are going through this. I do not know about inflammation of the stomach but I do know when I had my colonoscopy the doctor said my colon was twisted too however he did not seem to be worried about it all.

Maybe the reason the doc don't want to start on the gluten-free diet yet is because he wants to do further testing on your daughter?!?! Has the doc drawn blood to check her for Celiac or did he/she skip to the endoscopy?

I know at this point you want some answers and I don't blame you. Have you considered testing through Enterolab? It is noninvasive and very simple. You get the results in a matter of weeks and they are accurate!

Thank you for your reply, I just got word this morning that her biopsy confirmed celiac disease and the biopsy on her stomach was fine. Ronni goes in feb. 13 for x-rays on her intestines to see if she will need surgery. The doctor also told me to start her diet. I will be going shopping tonight.

That is good, at least now you know what makes her sick and you can avoid it by putting her on a gluten-free diet!

I am sure you will begin to see an improvement in her within a couple of weeks, I could tell a difference within days.

I'm so glad to hear that your daughter's biopsy was conclusive! celiac disease isn't the easiest diagnosis to adjust to, but it isn't the hardest, either, and on the gluten-free diet I am sure she will grow up happy and healthy. Good luck in your first gluten-free shopping venture tonight!

Ronni's x-rays came back fine she doesn't need surgery. But I'm having a problem with this diet ronni is picky to begin with and she doesn't like the gluten-free food at least what we have gotten so far. We drove back from California on sunday after her doctors appointment, when we stopoped at the gas station ronnni wanted something sweet (I did have gluten-free Crackers and Cookies for her but she doesn't like them) well they didn't have a Hershey's bar so I let her get a Jolly Rancher she has been sick for two days. I feel she's not getting enough food. I sent her to school with turkey, ham, grapes,orange and some gluten-free chips I know half of it will come back. I feel so alone with this diet and I cry for her thinking this is her life.

Hi Hillary, she doesn't need surgery, that is wonderful news!!! I know how you feel I too have a picky daughter . My daughter is 8 and in the 3rd grade. I usually try to send her to school with Rice, pasta (corn), chicken, hamburgers along with chips and fruit. Her teacher has been nice enough to warm her lunch for her after I wrote a letter explaining celiac disease and asked that she do this. They added the letter and her diagnosis to her file and meet her needs. Maybe this would be an option for you? And if your daughter is anything like mine she comes home and chows down, am I right????

I hope she begins to feel better and don't get discouraged, it will get better!!! Hang in there
