Gluten Free & Dairy Free Thailand Holiday.

Thought I would make a recommendation after a very positive experience we had in Thailand.

I have multiple food intolerances. Thai air provided an excellent gluten and dairy free breakfast and lunch from Sydney to Bangkok 8 1/2 hour flight and from Bangkok to Phuket an 1 1/2 flight I was provided with a lovely fruit snack when the others got a Danish.

We stayed at the Evason Phuket & Six Sense Spa Open Original Shared Link . When we booked our holiday we confirmed with the resort that they were able to provide gluten free and dairy free meals. They bent over backwards to accommodate all my food intolerances. On arrival I was provided with two little cards showing all my food intolerances in English and Thai.

They baked special bread for me, offered to make cakes and pizza if I wanted any. I was able to eat 90% of all the meals that where provided at the buffet as they were all naturally gluten free. As a person who lives a gluten free life style it was a complete delight as the gluten was very seldom present in an any of the dishes that they prepared for the buffet. 90% of the desserts were gluten free. Whenever soy was used in a dish it was mentioned to me and they would provide a dish without soy for me. All the noodles that where use were rice noodles. There was four restaurants to choose from in the resort.

I also had an option to order from the a- la-carte menu. Nothing was too much trouble for them they even changed individual meals and made suggestions how they could adapt a meal to accommodate my food intolerances. They had a fantastic awareness and understanding of what is required to accommodate a gluten free diet. I did not get sick once in the two weeks that we were there and ate to heart

Wow, sounds like heaven. I can't eat out. Can I ask what your other food intolerances are and how well you were able to eat out with them? I'm especially interested in dairy, soy, and egg. Thanks!

I can't tell yet because it's only been a few days and the issue occurs every 2/3 months!

Hi @Heather Hill Welcome to the forum. What I do find is that legumes seem to exacerbate both stomach ache, bloating and  backache symptoms such as lentils, beans etc, whilst the gluten containing grains do not obviously seem to. I definitely found lentils and other legumes caused me similar symptoms to you in the early days adopting a gluten free diet.  I think my gut was so sore, all that fibre really hurt it.   Also, oats had the same effect, yet before my diagnosis and going gluten free I could eat them for England.  Thankfully, some years later, I am eating pure oats (ones kept free from contamination with gluten) without issues, but even for a while I couldn't eat those. It is good you are having the biopsy.  Let us know how you get on. Oh - and one other thing.  If you are taking iron supplements, that can cause bloating and digestive issues.   Cristiana

Can you please educate me regarding my recent test results. Ive been gluten free for years. Recent deamidated gliadin Abs, IgA result is 0.9/‘not detected’ but deamidated gliadin Abs, IgG is 26.6/abnormal high. (Normal range is <15.0) So…what can this indicate?

@LookingForAnswers101Ooh I can also eat coconut, and probably because the ingredients are so highly processed I can eat gluten free bread even though it contains ingredients I can’t usually tolerate. I’m currently trying high lectin foods that've been through a pressure cooker but not much luck so far, pressure cooked mashed potatoes are fine but needs to be cooked completely soft. Hopefully you’ll have more luck than me.
