I'm going away this Thursday for 3 nights and wanted to bring something for me to eat at lunch time or if stuck on the airplane, so I bought the Lemon Pepper of both Starkist in the pop off lid and Bumble Bee pouch of tuna, they are both gluten free according to both of their web sites. Might be a good throw in your purse for anyone traveling..........Take some gluten free crackers and lunch time is covered. :)

TSA will probably not allow the can through security - no liquids/gels/creams/etc can go through security - even in sealed and unopened containers and even with a medical letter! The pouches SHOULD pose no problem, but if the TSA agent doesn't like it they will make you throw it away or get out of line and go back to check it (impossible).

You can also mail it home if that happens.

For on-the-plane food, you are pretty much limited to dry foods like chips, gluten-free crackers, candy, meat slices in a ziploc bag (no liquid), popcorn, etc.

They don't even allow you to take your own water or coffee (unless you have an infant).

You can read all the rules on your airlines webpage or at www.tsa.gov

GOOD LUCK!! (Flying is a real hassle these days for more reasons than the food thing)!

Some years ago when I was pregnant and prior to all the extra security, I took a tuna sandwich onto the plane with me, fearing that I wouldn't get enough to eat or wouldn't like the food. I didn't know of my food allergies back in those days.

When I had made the sandwich, I had forgotten how stinky tuna can be. I sure got a lot of dirty looks as I was eating it. So I decided it wasn't a good food to eat in close quarters, like a plane.

Very helpful. Oh yes, I am quite fastidious about not falling off the diet. It's just that the list of things I must add to the restrictions seems to grow.

I know this post is old but was wondering if you ever resolved this. My son is in the same situation. Villi healed but gastritis / duodenitis remain and calprotectin elevated. Now testing for crohns which I am freaking out about.

I did a little research and one kind of aphthous ulcer (aka, canker sore) is the Herpetiform canker sore. It is well-known that celiac disease can cause a skin rash known as herpetiformis dermatitis. I can't help but wonder if there is a connection. Celiac disease is also listed in this article as a cause for canker sores: https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/canker-sore/symptoms-causes/syc-20370615 Are you observing a strict gluten free diet? You might also look into reducing iodine consumption as that is known to help with herpetiformis dermatitis. Perhaps it will help with your canker sores as well.

Do you wear an M-95 mask left over from the pandemic when you handle flour? Do you eat out in restaurants? Do you take vitamins?
