Welcome to the madness, Barb! To see the sample kit, visit this page: Open Original Shared Link. Click the free kit to add it to your cart. Then you get to choose what goes in it. You can get 3 foundations, 1 blush and 1 concealer. All you have to pay is the shipping (it was about $4 for me). The EM page says the samples are good for 3 - 6 applications, but I get several weeks out of mine.

Hi Barb, and welcome :)

Just to add to Colleen's post, in your sample kit you will be able to choose 3 foundation colors in any formulation you like.

They have many shades in several categories to choose from and the different formulations Matte, Semi-Matte, Intensive, Original Glo.

If you have dry skin or found that the Bare Minerals made your skin feel dry and itchy you might want to give Semi-matte or Original Glo a try, Matte might be too drying.

If you have any questions or need our further assistance don't hesitate to ask :)

I've got my sample kit almost finished. I decided to try Chit Chat blush because my daughter looked at the colors with me. She said, "You like to chit chat a lot. That's the one you should get." So there you have it! I'm still waffling about the concealer. Has anyone tried "Multi-tasking" concealer? I have decided that I like "Sunlight" better than "Mint". I'm also going to try the flat top brush. I ordered the baby kabuki before, but it doesn't look like what is in the picture now. Neither does the eye shadow brush. It kind of has a peak to it.

I've used the multi-tasking concealor a couple of times. I like it well enough, although I tend to use sunlight the most. The multi-tasking is a more natural color...more like a foundation color.

Yeah, I wasn't loving the eyeshadow brush which is why I went on a spending spree at Sephora for eyeshadow brushes.:lol: The bristles are a little to stiff for my taste.

I just ordered the flat top, so don't have it yet, but if it's anything like the long handled kabuki, I'll love it. Did you order the long handled kabuki...I DO think they changed the regular kabuki at least once though.

Been too busy to read and post...but just thought I'd let you know I finally realized that I needed to try cool-fair foundation. After all the other light shades! This is much better for me, although there are several I can wear. I think if I get the original glo it will help with the lines. I goofed in my sample kit and ordered two semi-matte instead of one of each.

Now to try more blushes!

Who thinks the special will change tommorow lol. Im betting the 15th lol. My cart is alll ready i just need to hit send lol.

Awww, that's so cute about your daughter. Chit Chat seems to be a popular color, lots of people love it, I hope it works for you.

I have the multi-tasking foundation shade and reading the concealer descriptions it states that the concealer and foundation are pretty much the same, so I figured I didn't need to try it

I like both the Sunlight and the Mint, but for different things. I think the Mint is really effective at covering up the ruddy redness in my complexion and then I like the Sunlight for the under eye circles.

Glad you popped in Sherry!

That's great you are closer to figuring out your perfect match, the fabulous thing is even if those other shades you have work but aren't quite perfect you can mix them together and create something that is a better match, so nothing needs to be wasted.

Good luck with the blushes :)

Well I am going with March 15th, but who knows  we have tried to predict things in the past and it never works out!

Thanks, Donna. I think I'll order some more sunlight concealer then. I measured my kabuki handle. It's 1 1/2 inches long. The one in their picture now looks so stubby with hardly any handle.

Love the new case you bought. I hope you're feeling better now.

Maybe I'll have to use them together today. I was feeling a little green with the mint. I need to cover up redness and some veins that show through.

Carleigh wanted to try the make up the other day too. I put some on her and was happy to find that she didn't break out. She's got very sensitive skin, so I was worried about that. Thinking ahead, but in a few years, I thought it would be great to have a birthday party with my friend, who works for Clinique, come and show the girls how to properly wear it. I could order a bunch of sample kits and stuff. I hate to see young girls walking around with too much make up on.

One can NEVER have too many blushes! Oh wait, that's eyeshadows...oh wait, that's makeup. :P

Yeah, I agree with Julie...for some reason I had the 15th in my head regarding the special. We'll see...the way they've been going it probably won't change until the end of the month.

Thanks...I'm LOVING it! Makes me feel all girlie.

That's a good idea for your daughter's b-day!

With the Mint concealor, I just take my concealer brush and use the tiniest amount, I mean a very tiny amount, and really blend it in to the ruddy areas, anywhere there is red or a broken capillary.

I think using a small amount and the blending is key to not get that green "Kermit" look

Try it and see if it works for you.

Pick me up pink is the way to go to cover up pink spots, it blends right into your skin, i use pick me up pink and sunlight and it covers up all my trouble spots and if it works wonder for me believe me it works. i havent touched my mint for weeks and am so much happier with how i look without it lol

Pink Me Up Pink is great.

Anyone new to mineral make-up, or if you are needing a refresher  I found this link to a video tutorial series that someone posted on the EM community boards:

It is extremely helpful for showing how to apply foundation, but also goes over so many other things like concealer and blush application. Definitely worth checking out!

Joni63 Collaborator

I am soooooo ready for that special to change! I keep checking, but like usual it didn't change the day it's supposed to, lol! I agree with you ladies - the 15th sounds like a safe bet.

I finally ran out of my first foundation sample and after more trials of foundations decided that I like the Original Glow the best. It goes on light and flawless! That will probably change in the summer months to semi-matte tho.

Donna, your train case looks awesome. It's very organized and beautiful too! I thought you were kidding about labeling the containers, lol. You are the most organized person!

Julie, sounds like a great link, thanks! I can't wait to read it all.

I really need to order this time ladies, I'm feeling so...out of the loop since I haven't had any new makeup colors to rave about.

Ok, I need your valued opinions - Which brush is the best for blush? - the Baby Kabuki or the Angled Blush Brush. I had the BK in my cart, but it is now out of stock.

ShadowSwallow Newbie

Ok everyone, I rather fell off the makeup wagon, but am jumping back on!

Today I just received my order of:

Lavender Everyday Everywear

Sunlight Color Corrector

Waffle Cone

Beige-Fairly Light Matte

Beige-Sunkissed Fair Semi-Matte

Beige-Sandy Fair Intensive

I was going to try all of the foundation shades, but Sandy Fair matched perfectly. However, after 5hrs of wearing it it's just about worn off, and my pink, annoyed, broken-out skin is showing through. Apparently my skin likes EDM, because it started breaking out a few days after I stopped wearing it! :P

No matter how the Sunkissed Fair looks, I'm going to try doing it all-over tomorrow, so that I can see whether semi-matte has enough staying power for me, or if I need to keep mixing intensive/matte.

I like Waffle Cone (generally I steer away from sparkly blushes as they make my skin look shinier) but it's a very natural, neutral shade. :)

I also tried Sunlight Corrector under my eyes, but it didn't seem to do anything for them. :P

Joni, I just use my flat-topped bush to apply my blush. Of course this leads to the problem of having the blush spread all over my face the next time I use it for foundation.

Hey Joni, where you been?!?! I thought maybe you escaped from the cult

I am with you on the Original Glo/Semi-Matte plan. I was reading a thread over on the EM community boards and lots of people are experiencing dryness and flaking with the Intensive and Matte, they seem to be formulations that are a little more drying.

I need to order too!! I am so far behind all of you and don't have much to share about colors, lol.

My cart is pretty much full and I'm just waiting for the special to click send

oh, about the blush brush, I personally like a big fluffy brush to apply blush. I am currently using the one I got with my Bare Mineral kit, it's soft, fluffy and doesn't have as stiff bristles as a kabuki or flat top.

Ok everyone, I rather fell off the makeup wagon, but am jumping back on!

YAY Birdy, fabulous order!

Thanks for your reviews :)

Let us know how your experiments go with the Intensive/Matte mix go. Are you really buffing it in btw??

Waffle Cone sounds so nice Birdie. I think I have that in my cart, I'll have to check it's been so long since I filled it up. You can try mixing the Sunlight with a light moisturizer and see if that makes a difference.

What do you think of the flat-topped? Does it spread the makeup evenly?

Hey Joni, where you been?!?! I thought maybe you escaped from the cult

Hey Julie, no I didn't escape! I've just been having some minor problems I'm trying to deal with and most of my computer time has been researching things like diets, etc. Not as exciting as the EM thread that's for sure!

I agree about the Intensive and Matte. They seem to be thicker and seem to go on much heavier then OG and SM. My skin is not really oily though, and they would probably work much better on oilier skin.

My cart is full, too. I should have done the "order now and order later" cult directive. I definately would have made the special quota each time. I want so many things, but at the same time want to save a few items for a future order just to make sure I get that so desired special every time, lol! Tricks of the Trade!

ShadowSwallow Newbie
Are you really buffing it in btw??

I usually buff in well 3-4 layers starting with matte and then following with intensive. I also use quite a bit more powder than is recommended or I don't get the coverage I need. I buff it in really well, but I find that if I buff it in too much with too little powder it just wears away the layers so my skin shows through faster.

HI!!

Donna love that case!! How did you do the labels? The only thing I hate about EM is the label on the bottom that covers up the color. I would rather have a solid bottom with a label and a see thru top so I could see what color I have!!!

I've finally settled on a eye shadow natural mix that I like which is On the phone upper, Scented colors on the lower eye, exhale in the crease and cornor and in the garden liner. Exhale as a blush worked really well though I am going to switch back to a big fluffy brush instead of the angled brush.

I think sunkissed is the foundation for me though fairly netural works too. I actually put one on each side one day and I really couldn't tell a difference beyond the hollows of my cheeks looked pale vs a hint of color.

Gotta figure out what to do about lip stuff.

I think my makeup looks all right but haven't had any comments so it must be right or really horrible and nobody will speak up LOL!!!!!

Thanks...not ALWAYS organized, but in certain things yes, lol.

I'm using the angled brush for my blush...it's working really well. The kabuki brush I have (by BE) is pretty fluffy, and seems to make a softer, gentler application for some things.

Joni, I just use my flat-topped bush to apply my blush. Of course this leads to the problem of having the blush spread all over my face the next time I use it for foundation.

Yeah, I don't use the same brush, but sometimes I forget and tap out some blush on my foundation margarine lid, lol. Hate when that happens.

I want so many things, but at the same time want to save a few items for a future order just to make sure I get that so desired special every time, lol! Tricks of the Trade!

I've used that tactic myself a couple of times...I can't believe I've finally reached the point of not knowing what to order! I'm hoping the new site will give me LOTS of new things to ponder.

About the comments...it took a while for people to start commenting. I think they didn't know what was different, lol. People finally started figuring it out and then started commenting. My hair dresser's co-worker just did that to me. She was staring at me, and said I looked great, and after about 5 minutes of staring said "I know, you're wearing makeup"

I'd LOVE it if they would make clear tops on the EM jars...I think I read somewhere that either that was a suggestion or they are considering it. I just went to Walgreen's and picked up a couple packages of stick on labels...round colored dots and plain small white labels. I wrote each color name, and in the case of foundations, wrote the category (i.e., cool, buff, beige) as well as the name because sometimes the names are similar to other categories.

I think I'll order the angled brush as soon as the special changes. I can always order the Baby Kabuki later when it's back in stock.

YES, clear top EM jars would be great. I dread turning them over to check their names since I've had too much makekup leak out of the sifters on some jars. Whan I perused the Monave website, I noticed they had a nice variation of clear top jars, at reasonable prices too.

dlp252 Apprentice

I found a nice black jar at Sephora...has the shaker insert and a clear top. I thought I'm mix some of my unused foundations and see what happens, lol. I think that was $4...very sharp looking too. Course, I haven't actually DONE anything with it yet. :P

Well everyone...for those of you who don't have any of the full sized containers yet let me just say that they are HUGE!!! They are quite large around, but very flat. :P My order just came, and so I've happily looked through everything and already have labels on them. I am just amazed at the size of the containers, lol. I also got two flat top brushes...can't wait to try one out.

I think I've got everything just about ready to make my "at work" kit. Could have used it the last few days, lol. Today I ALMOST went au naturel, but at the last minute decided to put on a light application. (need to be at work by 5:00 am today, so wasn't going for anything too involved, lol.) Anyway, I MEANT to put on eyeliner, but completely forgot...fortunately I wasn't too messy with the mascara, so it doesn't look to bad, but if I had my "at work" kit, I could have put some eyeliner on. ;)

cruelshoes Enthusiast

Donna - I think your new train case is much too empty. You need to order lots more makeup to fill it up with.

Two words, ladies - Pink Pajamas. Tried this one for the first time yesterday and boy do I love it. Used floating feathers as a base and silver spoon as a liner.

I am really hoping they do not introduce a bunch of new eyeshadow colors after 3/15. I do not need any more colors. Or do I????

Today:

Multitasking neutral foundation

Multitasking concealer

Mojave camping blush - use a light hand on this one! Please blush responsibly.

Good China base

Mojave Camping eyeshadow - if applied lightly, it is really beautiful. Too much makes you look like a stripper.

Samba Lessons liner

Black Mascara (Maybelline  )

Copper lip gloss

silk dust finishing powder

Off the subject - Does anybody use Noxzema? I was out of my usual cleanser, and picked up some Noxzema in a pinch. Open Original Shared Link, but I know Proctor & Gamble can be a pain in the posterior to get an answer out of. I love how it smells and makes my skin feel, but won't use it anymore if anyone knows it is not gluten-free.

Worriedtodeath Enthusiast

Ohh Good thing about the full versions. I wanted bigger containers to better swirl the brush around in. :P

Here's today look

Went back to fairly neutral I think it is slightly too dark or just not quite the color so will go back to sunkissed tomorrow .

eyes- did on the phone upper, starry eyed liner, exhale (love that one) in the crease/eye corner, and hot chocolate on the eyelid. Love the look

brushed on tea time blush and dabbed on a light pinch of mojave camping (love that one too)

And then I decided I need lipstick HA!! I dabbed a tiny amount of vaseline on a very stiff brush (cheapy one that came 50 million brushes for 5 bucks in one of those christmas gift sets), dabbed on a tiny amount of mojave camping and mixed it in and then applied it. AND OH MY GOD!!! LOVE IT! Now I need to figure out how to make that travel so I can apply it thru the day. BUt it didn't feel thick and heavy like lipstick and the vaseline sorta absorbed into my skin and didn't rub off (much)

Definitely my hot mama look. With black little black shirt, I was smoking!!!!!! NOw if I can get motivated enough to lose 40 lbs, I will be a new woman.

Now who has a nice dusty rose color? I would rather use that as lip color for a natural everyday lipstick??

Thanks

Stacie

dlp252 Apprentice
I do not need any more colors. Or do I????

Silly, silly question indeed!! Never used Noxzema, so can't help there.

Ohh Good thing about the full versions. I wanted bigger containers to better swirl the brush around in. :P

Yeah, I've been using margarine lids to swirl in, lol.

Worriedtodeath Enthusiast

okay SO I really didn't want to do what I needed to do while the baby napped and instead I played with my makeup.

I ........ :o TORE off all the labels and stuck them to the lids :o I'm just a rebel! But I can now see the colors without having to take off the lid!

Doing so helped me come up with a plan for my eye shadows are. I've never played around with colors and have always bought the little packs of light, middle, dark so you knew exactly which ones went were. So I have put the colors in this order as I don't have that middle middle ones or darker ones. OR maybe I do LOL Or I'll just keep telling myself I don't so I can order another exciting eyeshadow kit. LOL

Here are my upper eye brow colors:(haven't tried the question mark ones)

baby bath

on the phone

hot chocolate

Good china

daydream blush??

eyelid color

Diary

scented colors

oasis

teatime??

in the crease color

in the garden

starry eyed

exhale

mojave camping blush

And for color combos it loks like these will work just great

ON the phone, diary, starry eyed

scented candles, oasis, exhale

SO that's what I did during nap time :D

Well, the only thing I would conclude with would be, if you choose not to trial the gluten free diet, is to encourage you to get periodically tested, either antibody blood tests or the biopsy or both. I think it something that needs to be monitored.
    • Sking
So the strange thing is I don't have any symptoms at all, except the soft stools (comes and goes) which they told me was from the Lymphocytic colitis. I had some mild positives on my antibody test and one gene was positive which is what made my doctor go ahead with the endoscopy. The reason they started any of this was finding the lymphocytic colitis this past summer after I had C Diff and she said, Well....it may be from something like Celiac.... Definitely a lot to learn through all of this and I appreciate people like you taking the time to help out a stranger like me!
    • trents
Well, I wouldn't rule either out. And you might consider trialing a gluten free diet for a few months to see if symptoms improve. That would tell you a lot. By the way, the incidence of other bowel diseases is higher in the celiac population than it is in the general population. And even if you don't have celiac disease, you could have NCGS. Gluten is just problematic for a lot of folks for various reasons.
    • Sking
Thanks for taking a look. I also just did some research and saw that increased numbers of intraepithelial lymphocytes and villous distortion can possibly be from lymphocytic colitis (which I was diagnosed with this past summer)....so fingers crossed this is what she will say it is.
    • trents
IMO, Part 3 has some abnormalties that could indicate the early stages of celiac disease but the doctor is tentatively thinking not, at least at this point.
