Going To Dr. Today To Ask For Blood Test

Since DS has his diagnosis, I feel like it is reasonable to get the family tested. I've always had on and off digestive issues that I've attributed to stress, so I'm going first, ;)

Anyway, I've heard the horror stories and read enough here to be nervous, not to mention my own experience with fighting to get DS diagnosed. I'm afraid I'm going to go in there and the Dr. is going to be clueless and I'm going to get nervous and not be able to make a coherent argument. I know I'm going to insist on the test, but I'm afraid I'm going to just get flipped around and lose my train of thought. This will be the first time I've seen this Dr., I lost contact with my primary care guy when I didn't go in for 6 years, LOL.

Any advice?

"Because my son was diagnosed with Celiac, I learned that leading Celiac physicians recommend that all first degree relatives are tested, regardless of symptoms, because of the increased risk of having Celiac. I am interested in talking with you today about having the full Celiac blood panel run."

Here are the tests you want run: Open Original Shared Link

Perhaps you'll need to mix your own cocktails?

Your son has two positive blood tests for celiac disease, plus a positive biopsy for it...why hasn't your doctor diagnosed him with celiac disease, which is the most likely diagnosis based on the test results you shared? The next step should be a gluten-free diet, which your doctor already recommended.

I am glad to hear you are not taking acid blocking meds as they increase gut PH which inhibits mineral absorption which, in turn, often causes the body to rob it's own bones of the calcium it needs for various metabolic processes. I was asking about that because acid reflux is very common in the celiac community.

I am not taking anything except for the multivitamins that I purchased from the supermarket.

This is what my Cardiologist prescribed for my weight.  My husband is prescribed 10,000 units.  When I say prescribed I do not mean a prescription is needed, just that the 2 respective dosages are what he ordered according to our size/weight.  My cardiologist is accepted as one of Houston's leading cardiologists.
