Hi,

Has anyone been to the Dixie Stampede in Myrtle Beach ? My husband and I went to the one in Gatlinburgh Tennessee six years ago before we found out that he had celiac sprue. But now that we have to find places that are ok to eat at without him getting sick, I called the Dixie Stampede in Myrtle Beach. The lady on the phone was very helpful and told me that he could have the chicken, potatoes and corn (but not the butter on the corn or the biscuit or apple turnover). I was wondering if anyone has been there and how was there food experience ? We are going on vacation the second week of June and would like to make our reservations.

Thank you,

Sue

I was there four or five years ago, before my dx. As I recall, the food was nothing memorable. The way they serve it, with young servers in costume going through the crowd slopping food on plates as fast as poosible, doesn't seem to me to be too safe from a CC point of view. You might get served something before you can say, "No thanks."

My advice would be: decide whether the cost is worth the show alone, and plan to eat elsewhere before or after (or ask them if you can bring something in). Since the ticket includes the food, I don't see why you couldn't bring in something else.

I am not taking anything except for the multivitamins that I purchased from the supermarket.

The critic acid and sodium citrate is corn unfortunately and they don’t have to label corn because it’s not part of the top 9 allergen and not mandatory 😭

Yaya, from the JAMA study you refer to: "Taking 60,000 international units (IU) a day of vitamin D for several months has been shown to cause toxicity." No one on this forum is recommending  taking anywhere near that amount. We're talking about 5-10,000IU daily.

"Doses higher than the RDA are sometimes used to treat medical problems such as vitamin D deficiency, but these are given only under the care of a doctor for a specified time frame. Blood levels should be monitored while someone is taking high doses of vitamin D." Quoted from the Healthline article @Yaya linked above...
