Dh And Pressure Points?

I read an article that says that DH is more likely to occur on the skin in areas where there is pressure, like from clothing. Anyone have thoughts on this? I seem to get more DH flareups on my back and my waist where my clothes (bra, pants) put pressure on my skin. I have noticed a lot more outbreaks on my back since I started wearing a tight sports bra when running. Just curious.

Thanks!

My first thought would be what detergent and fabric softener are you using? I usually got problems like this from an unsafe detergent. Those areas are in constant contact with the fabric which would have an offending allergen right tight on skin.

Have you tried using a detergent like Arm and Hammer Free and Clear to see if the problem resolves?

I get the rash anywhere and everywhere. I've had several flare ups, and it seems there is no pattern, shows up in new places as well as old. It does not mirror both sides of the body on me. There is no place left that I have not had a rash.

For a while the break outs were getting smaller.....smaller areas and smaller blisters. I had a major glutening a few weeks back (still haven't figured out from what). Not only did I do a major backslide healthwise, I had a huge outbreak of DH. I'm hoping to never have to go through this again. I feel like I'm starting all over.

My dermatologist didn't think my rash looked like DH so I tried various topicals and switched to unscented dye free soap and laundry detergent with no success. I didn't understand why I got the rash only in spots covered by clothing until I searched symptoms and kept finding Celiac and DH in the search results and read about pressure points.

My Gastroenterologist had included a test for Celiac in a series of tests but didn't mention it to me,and his staff wasted an extra month when the lab didn't have enough blood samples to perform the test. They kept telling me the results would be "another week" until I called the lab myself and learned the truth. By then I had learned about DH online and requested that my dermatologist test for it because of a family history of autoimmune diseases: thyroid disease, diabetes, liver disease, heart trouble, diverticulitis.

My DH is always mirrored to a degree but more severe on one side. Solorcaine spray and Mometesone give me some temporary relief.

Diagnosed 8 months ago at age 49 and DH was almost gone until I ate Batman Special Edition dark chocolates for weeks thinking I had read the bag and that they were safe. Anyone have Cutaneous Sarcoidosis granulomas at the same time as DH?

In general DH is worse at pressure points or where the skin is closer to the bone -- elbows, knees, etc. I had DH for more than 20 years but have never found detergents or fabric softeners to be a problem.

Thank you for your kindness. I have just begun CPTSD treatment & it's so hard to go through all this history realizing I could have had a healthier life had my mother had my best interest as she did her own needs and desires. I often thought she had kids to work for her. She did the bills and the laundry. She wore the pants in the family, I knew that & I know my stepfather was elated to tell me no. He had no interest in taking care of me ever. And he doesn't even understand that he caused these horrible health issues of my mothers and myself. His ignorance is bliss. He said he didn't want to hear about my health issues. Thanks again for being here and responding. It gives me a place of safety and understanding I haven't had for years. thanks, Jane

Thank you.  I certainly take it seriously, no matter what my diagnosis is, and I do a lot of my own research also.  I just want to make sure I'm doing everything "right" as much as I can without jeopardizing any test result accuracy since this may be my last shot at getting an official diagnosis since I plan to go fully gluten-free afterwards! Yup, I am certainly making a current effort to eat plenty of it!  Not only for test accuracy, but I figure I may as well enjoy it now just in case it's my last go at it also.

@Scott Adams I would say it means , no it is not verified gluten free. I am extremely sensitive and I also have OCD. So that answer is entirely too vague for me. However , if it suits others then I am happy for those individuals

Have you considered eating plenty of gluten from now until your capsule endoscopy? If you truly have celiac disease that would increase the chances of damage being seen.

I just want to reinforce what Scott said and that is we have tended to think in these neat little black and white categories of it's either celiac or NCGS when in reality it may not be quite that neat. There's just a lot we don't know and the immune system is very complex. I often wonder if I had been gluten free as a child if I would have avoided developing celiac disease as an adult. I think there is also this misconception that if you have NCGS, gluten is not harmful, it just creates discomfort and inconvenience.
