Nut/peanut Safe Gluten-free Flours

Hi, I am a newly diagnosed celiac. My daughter has a severe allergy to nuts and peanuts and all the gluten-free flours which I have found carry a 'may contain traces of nuts/peanuts' on the packaging. Can anyone give me advice on finding gluten-free and peanut/nut safe baking products or flours? Do you know of any manufacturers who can guarentee their products to be safe of this allergen. I would really appreciate any help as I am beginning to panic!

I understand how you feel. I have nut allergies and am a celiac. I had a terrible time finding nut-free flours. Ener-G has nut-free flours. I use corn starch to bread chicken for frying (perfect with garlic powder, salt, paprika). I also eat a lot of food from Enjoy Life. We keep a nut free house, even though I am the only one allergic! We also have a gluten free (as much as possible) kitchen, but my kids have a separate microwave and toaster oven away from the kitchen for their frozen goodies, like Hot Pockets. I found that I only truly healed when I got all gluten out of my environment. For the first year, I cross contaminated like crazy. Now, my kids eat off of paper plates when they eat pizza, etc... We only have cakes on birthdays (not mine, of course) and then they have to each wash their own fork. They eat hamburger rolls and other essentials, but they have to use the paper. Now that they are trained, I am all better! It took two solid years to get here (and I turned into a bit of a tyrant for awhile until they learned). The nut issue just adds an even more difficult twist. It is great that you care so much about your daughter.

Thanks for replying. I have always kept our hour totally nut/peanut free so my daughter could have a 'safe' place at home, so I have been finding myself quite devastated to realise that I may end up being the person to bring unsafe products into it. I have, however, found a web-site (which you may already know about) filled with gluten-free products which are also free of nuts/peanuts. I haven't tried anything yet. The webside is www.gluten-free.com and they have an American and Canadian site. Hope this helps.

Wow she was just playing with play dough yesterday and I actually thought i wonder if I have to worry about play dough! But no meltdowns yesterday. Is your daughter celiac or just gluten sensitive/intolerant? Your son still had to go on Ritalin after going gluten free?

I had the endoscopy with biopsy done. I have gastritis and duodenitis at this point. The biopsy should provide the cause of the inflammation findings. How common are these findings when Celiac is the ultimate culprit?

Welcome to the forum @cookiesyum, I lasted on staton for about a month before getting so weak I had to stop.   Switched to Nicotinic Acid and I posted the results in a previous post.  Instead of getting sicker and weaker on the statin I feel I am improving day by day.  Nicotinic Acid was first used for cholesterol in 1955.

According to research, consuming gluten can potentially trigger sudden mood swings and increased irritability in children, particularly those with gluten sensitivity or celiac disease, making them more likely to have tantrums or display behavioral issues; this is because gluten can trigger an immune response in the body, potentially impacting brain function and neurotransmitter levels.  When my son was diagnosed in 1976 when he was weaned his doctor told us that at 5 years old his kindergarden teacher would beg us to put him on Ritalin.  And so it did happen.  My son was on Ritalin though high school.  In the morning he was a devil who could not put on his socks. Half an hour after the morning dose he was an angel wanting to help mom get ready.  Talk about Jekyll and Hyde! Dr Danel Amen could be a good resource for you.

Yes, it certainly can! My daughter has a reaction from just playing with Playdough. She doesn't get GI symptoms at first, just psychological mostly. It can get really bad. It's like night/day behavior. My daughter is eight, but started showing signs around 6.
