Breakfasts

I always find breakfasts quite difficult. Does anyone have recipes or can let me know what they have? I use this spread sometimes for toast. Its mackerel, we eat fish in the UK for breakfast sometimes, like kippers.

Anway take 3 of the smoked pre cooked mackerel you can get, add several desertspoons of horseradish sauce (to make a spread) , a dash of lime juice and some black pepper. Whiz up with electronic whizzer and you get a kind of pate. Its really very tasty.

Hi Bridget,

I think that most of us on the other side of the pond enjoy a more subtle morning meal.

My obsession at the moment is Van's Waffles, toasted with peanut butter and orange marmalade.

My DD loves breakfast burritos with hashbrowns, eggs, cheese, bacon or ham on a gluten-free flour tortilla

I love muffins :P or yogurt with berries and granola

DH eats toast with gobs of pb&j or soup or an omelet with lots of veggies and leftover meats

These waffles are great, my whole family loves them anytime:

Here's what I have these days,

cornbread made in a small cast iron skillet with 100% cornmeal(no flours), sausages or ham, fruit

fruit crisp with oats in the topping, usually apples, sometimes with a few blueberries added, and little or no sugar on the fruit, sausages or ham

lately I've been having sandwiches on a homemade sorghum oat bread, fruit

rice chex cereal and banana, sausages or ham

I like a slice of gluten-free toast with almond butter and a banana--that's what I have most often.

On the weekends, I make pancakes with fruit and bacon. Once in a while homefries with onions.

Corn bread is a good one, I have made that in the past. I think I wll have to do some baking this weekend. Thanks all

One other staple that I forgot to add was parboiled potatoes, chopped and pan fried with chopped onion, peppers and ham, salt and pepper. I sometimes prep or completely prepare them a day ahead to save time in the am.

I'm currently obsessed with homemade waffles. I splurged and bought myself a waffle iron. I've tried a couple different mixes. I guess they're not from scratch. Haha. But mmmm...they're delicious! Trader Joes' is probably my favorite. I put some warmed frozen strawberries and powdered sugar on it. I could eat them everyday. :)

We love pancakes from Pamela's Baking and Pancake Mix. DD is gluten free, DH and I aren't, but we think they're better than gluten version. They're so good!!

One of my favorite things to eat at breakfast is migas (or would it be miga? )

I like to throw together eggs, corn tortillas, turkey bacon or ham, salsa, and sometimes tomatoes/spinach/mushrooms. I loved to eat them with cheese on top before I stopped eating dairy.

I also try and have some sort of fruit bread/muffins -- DH's fave is banana bread. I also favor zucchini bread, blueberry muffins, raspberry muffins, streudel topped apple muffins, or cranberry bread. YUM!

I've been eating hot cereals lately. Rolled rice flakes (like oatmeal, but rice) with raisins, almonds, cinnamon, flax seeds and rice milk.

"Similar proteins to the gliadin found in wheat exist as secalin in rye, hordein in barley, and avenins in oats, and are collectively referred to as 'gluten'. The gluten found in all of these grains has been identified as the component capable of triggering the immune-mediated disorder, celiac disease." https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/28244676/ "However, it is necessary to consider that oats include many varieties, containing various amino acid sequences and showing different immunoreactivities associated with toxic prolamins. As a result, several studies have shown that the immunogenicity of oats varies depending on the cultivar consumed." https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26557006/

I have read research indicating differing reactions to various oat cultivars, however, nothing suggesting that some contain gluten - do you have a source for that?

For those of you who have had celiac for a long time what do your IGA and TTG IGA Levels usually show on follow up blood work ?

Hello Everyone,   I used to be a lot less strict with my gluten-free diet. I have always eaten gluten-free but never only got gluten-free-certified or labeled products but the last few years I have been taking it a lot more seriously and only eat at dedicated gluten-free restraunts or things labeled gluten-free.     A recent blood test of mine showed slightly elevated IGA and TTG IGA but negative Endomysial Antibody which my doctor said is likely pointing to cross contact. I have no clue how this could be happening and I am trying to be super super careful now.   For example I used to always get Kroger frozen chicken which says gluten free on the package but when I reach out to kroger they have no idea and they said in the processing plant the clean the area after each batch but its not dedicated gluten-free facility.  Could processed gluten-free foods or even meats I am getting be making my levels appear slightly over the normal causing damage?     I am meeting with a dietician soon but curious on anyone insights or brand recommendations for meats especially

Try DevaCurl Frizz-Free Volumizing Foam for curls, Living Proof Full Thickening Mousse for long-lasting body, or Aveda Phomollient for a soft, natural lift. Budget-friendly options like Giovanni Natural Mousse or Herbal Essences Bio:Renew also work well. Avoid heavy ingredients and check for hydrolyzed wheat protein if highly sensitive. Always verify labels for gluten-free safety.
