Gluten & Wheat Free Tortillas

Well, feeling all nasty after eating some Gluten and Wheat free tortillas ..I am allergic to soy and intolerable to milk, but they don't have any of that in them. Can't figure it out..rice bran maybe? They are from Whole Foods market BTW :huh:

Cross contamination from the factory, maybe? Mission corn tortillas are made on separate equipment--I've never had a problem with them.

I get "crossed" up from any tortilla brand..and gosh darn it I love mexican food so much..oh well..another wasted $3.99 on bad food :angry:

Did you eat anything else with them that could be suspect?

Nope, just BBQ'd chicken no sauces..vegatable mixture, and salsa

Sorry you had a problem. It's so discouraging when you thought you were being safe. I've been having a similar problem with ham. For tortillas I just buy the cheap Walmart corn tortillas that have 2 or 3 ingredients, never had a problem with those. I agree it might be CC. Hope you feel better!

oh yeah, today I can hardly get out of bed..definetly got glutened..yikes. I feel like a truck hit me. Thanks for all your help friends! :)

      Correct. I’m doing both in the same go though. Thanks for clarifying before I confused someone. I’m doing a colonoscopy for something else and then they added the endoscopy after the test.

      It is a biopsy but it's not a colonoscopy, it's an endoscopy.

      Well I’m going on the gluten farewell tour so they are about to find out lol. I keep saying biopsy but yeah it’s a scope and stuff. I’m a dummy but luckily my doctor is not.

      The biopsy for celiac disease is done of the small bowel lining and in conjunction with an "upper GI" scoping called an endoscopy. A colonoscopy scopes the lower end of the intestines and can't reach up high enough to get to the small bowel. The endoscopy goes through the mouth, through the stomach and into the duodenum, which is at the upper end of the intestinal track. So, while they are scoping the duodenum, they take biopsies of the mucosal lining of that area to send off for microscopic analysis by a lab. If the damage to the mucosa is substantial, the doc doing the scoping can often see it during the scoping.
