Uncomfortable Naturalpath Visit

My history is complicated (scholiosis, celiac disease, hernia under the left rib cage, etc) and latley I wanted to have my blood tested again after the last test a couple years ago. I looked up in the yellow pages a naturalpath, originally interested in a foot bath, and got his attitude on the phone that I should explain why and what I had wrong with me to get the ionized foot bath. I explained, he said to scheduale an appointement. Long story short, I'm on the table telling him all about my health issuse and he starts poking areas like my temples and subclavius areas and then my abdominal area. He jams his fingers under my ribs and presses hard wiggling his fingers in my tender areas where my stomach and pancrease are. He asked me if that's a 1 through a 10 in pain, obviously that's a 10. I say "Owe that hurts!" he does it again, I say "Owe that still hurts!" and goes to the other side does it twice there, stops to make light of the subject and pretends to walk away to write this all down and laughs and jams his fingers in the area again! Tha bastard!

So all night my hernia area, my poor guts hurts and they still hurt today. I'm offended and hurt, my last naturopathic doctor didn't do this to "test" for celiac disease.

So I'd like to know what to do about this guy, I've already paid him for a first visit and the blood work which totalled 350$ and he wants me to come in Thrusday to go over the results which will be another 50$. I don't want work done by him, but I do want my test results which will be in his hand Thursday.

His name is Garry L Shohet, DC, NMD, C.Ac he's in Boise Naturopathic Medicine, PC 2524 Noth Stokesberry Place Meridian. Honestly I looked khim up on the Better Business Burea, I don't recomend his techniques so far.

He first of all had no idea of my organs health, second didn't care of my past hernia, third didn't need to jam his fingers anywhere to "test" my body for celiac disease. Nothing like getting false sense of security in a fancy new office full of fancy stuff to be hurt right away. This is why I honestly don't trust doctors of any sort when they have a prideful attitude, should have saw this one coming.

What does a girl do about this situation?

I think I might go and get my paperwork, but he'll be mad.

SO? Aren't you mad that he poked you in the gut repeatedly? Tell him why, tell him you want your money back. Or go get your stuff and never go back. Who cares if he's mad.

You have a legal right to your lab work. He cannot keep that from you.

Exactly- and I would tell him why he made you uncomfortable if you can. I had a similar experience with an acupuncturist. I'm sorry this happened to you.

Thankyou all, I'm so frustrated that he'd do that. I'm going to get my paperwork and say "tah tah!" to him! :D

I could sure deal with the arm energy test a lot better after this poking session. Sheesh.

Honestly I'd write him a (non-emotional, non-threatening) letter explaining why he upset you and that you'd like a refund. Maybe he has a bad sense of humor and didn't understand that he really upset you. I don't think you have a legal case. Maybe he'll give you an apology and a refund, maybe not, but he definitely won't unless you ask. Honestly I don't think he meant any harm, it just sounds like a miscommunication, but if you don't let him know that, you're out your money, you'll still be angry, and there's nothing solved.

If you are talking Idaho and want a new doc in Nampa, PM for his name and address.

I am on Otzela for my psoriasis an psoriasis arthritis.  They tried pretizon and I got sick on it. ( the doctor at urgent care). Need to see my doctor but he seems puzzled by me. My celiac disease is unresponsive and my numbers are off the chart.  ( 2nd testing went higher but Mayo said they might never go down because I have it so bad) Came back home considering going back to Mayo.

Welcome to the forum, @Dawn Meyers! Are you currently on immunosuppressant medications for your various autoimmune disorders?

Hi I have celiac disease and the dermatitis herpetiformis rash Also other autommune diseases.  I have had bad side effects to all the vaccines I have had and now my Doctor wants me to have the pneumonia vaccine.  I am concerned because of some of the bad side effects I have had in the past example Hep B after shot couldn't  move arm for several months.  Flu shot and COVID was sick right after shot. Told not to get anymore. My lung is inflamed and have a cough I can't seem to get rid of. Very concerned 😟.

@Manaan2,  I'm so happy to hear you're going to try thiamine and magnesium!  Do let us know the results!   You may want to add a B 50 Complex with two meals of the day to help boost absorption.  Thiamine interacts with each of the other B vitamins which are all water soluble.   When supplementing magnesium, make sure to get sufficient calcium.  Calcium and magnesium need to be kept in balance.  If you choose a calcium supplement, take two hours apart from magnesium as they compete for absorption.  Take Calcium with Vitamin D.  Vitamin D helps calm the immune system.   For pain, I use a combination of thiamine, B12 Cobalamine, and Pyridoxine B6.  These three vitamins together have analgesic effects.  My preferred brand is "GSG 12X Takeda ALINAMIN EX Plus Vitamin B1 B6 B12 Health Supplementary from Japan 120 Tablets".  Alinamin is another form of thiamine.  It really is excellent at relieving my back pain from crushed vertebrae without side effects and no grogginess.   Look into the low histamine version of the Autoimmune Protocol Duet (Dr. Sarah Ballentyne, a Celiac herself, developed it.)  It really helps heal the intestines, too.  It's like a vacation for the digestive system.  Add foods back gradually over several weeks after feeling better.   I'm so happy to have pointed the way on your journey!  Let us know how the journey progresses! P. S. Add a Potassium supplement, too.  Potassium is another electrolyte, like magnessium, that we need.

@knitty kitty I can't thank you enough!  My husband and I already started looking into those supplements.  We definitely plan to give it a try.  We've been against the Miralax since it was originally advised by PCP, but because of the level of pain she experienced on a daily basis, we decided to try it.  We've made many attempts to gradually decrease but due to her pain and related symptoms, we've kept her on it while trying all sorts of other dietary adjustments pre and post diagnosis specific to food; so far none of those efforts have made a significant difference.  I will definitely share how she's doing along the way!
