My mom wants to take DH for his 50th next week to Red Lobster. I told her I was sure I could find something to eat. Anyone been there recently and can gove me suggestions?

I get the steamed crab legs and plain uncut baked potato and un-seasoned vegetables. All their seasonings have gluten in them I think. Just make sure you are really clear. Hope this helps.

Do a search in this topic for Red Lobster and you will find a ton of results, ranging from pleasant experiences to absolute nightmares. It seems to all depend on how well the manager and staff at that particular restaurant are acquainted in dealing with food allergies.

I noticed your address was Milford, IN. I live in Mishawaka. I have eaten at the Red Lobster in Elkhart and it went relatively well, I had to send my salad back and tell them I couldn't simply "pick" the croutons off.

DO NOT, under any circumstances, go to the one in Mishawaka. It will be a complete waste of your time, they don't get it and have shown no inclination to try to.

At least here in the DC area they are advertising the addition of a wood-fired grill. No experience with that but it might be safer than some of their other menu lines.

Thanks to everyone for their replies. It is helpful.

Thank you, John. My mom recently ate at the Elkhart one and I think that's where she's taking us. Mishawaka is a bit further away for us. Lucky for me, huh?

Welcome to the forum, @Newhere19, I agree with @Beverage about getting a DNA test for Celiac genetic markers and trying the gluten free diet.   An endoscopy would be able to check for visible damage and allow biopsies to be taken to examine for microscopic damage.   Some people have camera endoscopy.  Would this be a possibility?   Sending encouragement.  You've found a tribe that understands.

I got an official diagnosis from a naturopathic doctor, based on: 1. Very high blood antibodies 2.dna test and 3. Response to gluten free diet. I'm in the United States and have had absolutely no push back ever. My step granddaughter received an official diagnosis from an MD based on high antibodies blood test only. She's also in the U.S. and was told docs in U.S.are doing this more often now. I'd try a different doctor if you can.
