Make Ahead Breakfast Tried And True

Slackermommy

Recommended Posts

Slackermommy Rookie

I used to make some great make ahead breakfasts for Christmas morning before I had to eat gluten free. This will be my third Christmas, and I have yet to find something good.

Something to start the night before and then pop in the oven in the morning, but not quiche. I used to do citrus cream cheese pull apart rolls, or a french toast casserole..I was thinking along those lines, something sweet, and fun for children.

Thanks in advance for any ideas you may have. I am stumped.

I've made these MANY times, they are SOOOO good. You can make the rolls the night before, put in fridge and bake in the morning, they are just as good. I usually make 2 pans, 1 regular and one with tiny diced apples in the filling. I serve it with a hashbrown/sausage/egg casserole to add in some protein (I can give you the recipe if you want)

Cinammon Rolls

Serves 8 or 9

INGREDIENTS

2 tablespoons butter

1/4 cup sugar

2/3 cup of milk, room temperature

1 packet yeast (about 1 tablespoon)

1 egg

1/4 cup canola oil

1 1/2 cup gluten-free flour or flour blend-whatever you have works, very forgiving

1/4 teaspoon baking soda

2 1/2 teaspoons xantham gum

2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

TO SPRINKLE ON BOARD COVERED WITH PLASTIC WRAP

1 - 2 tablespoons sugar

FILLING

1 stick melted butter

1 cup brown sugar

1 1/4 teaspoons cinnamon

1/3 cup chopped nuts - optional

GLAZE

I found a random french toast casserole recipe on Allrecipes and used it with gluten-free bread, came out great!
