Probiotic Question

Hey I have a question-- If i break open a probiotic capsel and sprinkle it in my yogurt will the bacteria still get there ok, or will it die?? The capsels have potato starch in it and I cannot eat starch.

What do you think???

You can pull open the capsules, and I doubt it would make much difference in terms of getting into the gut. That's because the typical capsules dissolve in the stomach anyway. But there is some question as to whether the bacteria actually survive the stomach. Some say yes, some say no.

Anyway, I've never seen a capsule shell itself containing potato starch, but that is a common ingredient in many supplements in capsule form. Usually, the capsules themselves are made of vegetable cellulose, or gelatin. Which brand and formula do you have?

      @CeliacPsycho246, You might try cutting out dairy.  Some of us react to Casein, the protein in dairy, the same as to gluten.
