Some Suggestions For Those Still Experiencing The Lower Gi Issues

ok so being a celiac that had/has all of the wonderful lower gi issues i have come to a conclusion on things that help at least for me and hope this can aid others.

while of course other sensitivities are common and i am pretty sure i have some i am not in a position to do one of the crazy elimination diets and i know many others dont.

i have found that once i started taking a good multi vitamin that has pretty high levels of all the basic nutrients helped a lot, to the point that in the last week and a half that i started taking it i have had much less issues ( i think the iron is helping along with general better nutrients). i also noticed that just eating a more balanced diet has helped a whole lot, being a college student (in art, which has about as much work as a med student) so i dont eat very balanced, very few veggies and fruits, yet when i got home and get some good old food from the kitchen of mom i am much better as well and i think it is solely due to eating more veggies.

i hope this simple, semi obvious solution will help some people here

It seems to me that people use more processed foods these days than they used to Matt. Maybe your mom is using more whole foods in her cooking than your school does. That is a good way to avoid gluten, using whole foods rather than processed. Wheat is used a lot in foods these days for various things, like keeping salad dressings in emulsions, adding cheap protein to some foods, or making things thicker like in gravies, or in coatings for sticking things to nuts etc. They put it in so many processed foods these days.

i dont eat at my dining hall, in fact i dont get food from the school in any way, i usually cook pretty simply here and from scratch, or there about, the biggest difference is just the balanced diet. i do know processed stuff is not that good though and i do try to stay away from a lot of processed stuff, i even have been getting the micro brewed sodas that are all natural for when i want a soda (i really only drink 1 a day at tops now, when i used to drink nothing but soda when i was in highschool) and the natural ones dont give me any bad feelings at all ever so i can tell they are better.

I was diagnosed in November with celiacs and at the time had been tested for multiple vitamin deficiencies. During that time my folate level was 4ng/mL, Although I was told to take supplements, I ended up only taking them for a week or so as they made my stomach upset. I had my blood work redone yesterday and as the results came in I noticed that most of my levels are now normal, but folate level is >24ng/mL. Has anyone else had similar results? If so were you able to figure out why or how to normalize them? I also have been having constant acid reflux since about two weeks into going gluten free (no acid reflux history prior to) that we are trying to get to the bottom of with no answers. Could that be related? Thank you!! Also wanted to not that I am not eating any gluten free processed food.

Did you take a look at my pics that I uploaded?    These rashes is not itchy, but I have seen that people have this too that have celiac and it’s not itchy for them either. I have also heard that sulfur burps are a common things with celiac too.  Yes it can be something else too but it’s to much symptoms that I have that match with either gluten sensitivity or celiac.   Hopefully it’s just gluten intolerance and not celiac.  As I said before I have the gen type for celiac and diabetes typ 1 and the those diseases going hand in hand.    Thanks again Trent for your time to reply, and I wonder if any body else have kind of the same symptoms that I have?

Welcome Connie Smitj,  Did you have a follow up test to see if the treatment for H Pylori was successful?  It's possible to catch it again, especially from a partner.  When I contracted it a second time my wife was tested and was positive for two of the bacteria in H Pylori.

Welcome to the forum, @Connie Smitj! Can you give us a little more history about your celiac journey? How long ago were you diagnosed and how long have your been gluten free? Do you have other symptoms besides quick onset of hunger after eating and gut pain? How long have these symptoms being happening?

I eat a gluten-free diet but hunger pains start within an hour of eating dinner. I  had h pylori infection before I was diagnosed. Occasionally I’ll have bouts of pain. Could it come back or is it just celiac disease?
