How Long Does It Take For Iron To Improve With Diet?

Just curious, generally, how long until one sees improvement with iron levels after going gluten-free?

Will they go up with diet alone, or must we also take vitamins?

I have been gluten-free for 3 months, and still have low iron, but I have not been taking vitamins :( I am not sure of the exact numbers, but will ask at my appt next week.

Building iron stores back up is a pretty slow process and can take many months. If it's really low your doctor will likely put you on a supplement.

Thank you for your input!  I would really like to know if I have celiac disease because you need make sure you are not getting any cross contamination due to cancer concerns.  I guess I need to start with a knowledgeable Gastroenterologist. Thank you again!

Correct. I’m doing both in the same go though. Thanks for clarifying before I confused someone. I’m doing a colonoscopy for something else and then they added the endoscopy after the test.

It is a biopsy but it's not a colonoscopy, it's an endoscopy.

Well I’m going on the gluten farewell tour so they are about to find out lol. I keep saying biopsy but yeah it’s a scope and stuff. I’m a dummy but luckily my doctor is not.
