Has anyone had good luck with Solary Yeast Cleanse, and is it gluten free???

Hi Lexi - you asked this Q ages ago but I'll reply anyhow.

I used this formula long before I was diagnosed Celiac. It always brought me great relief.

After I was diagnosed and began investigating my supplements I never was able to get the official

word from Solaray re: Gluten Free cert so it's best to steer clear and stick to NOW and Country Life

as they are all over the gluten-free cert and you always risk cross-contamination/gluten spamming

without a cert, official statement, or dedicated facility.

Post-diagnosis I found the 'Now' Brand - Candida Clear and began using this as they

state the formulation is gluten-free.

It's very effective but I must say I found immediate relief

with the Solaray product and felt the NOW brand is less intense and offers slower, long

term relief with less intense die off effect depending on how intense your symptoms.

Additionally NOW is available via I Herb for uber cheap.

I do however still go for the Solaray in emergency situations when I can't wait for I Herb

to ship as Whole Foods offers this and not the NOW formulation.

I find I have candida issues around the holidays as I inevitably suffer gluten

spamming due to the lack of Celiac knowledge and gluten-free prepared food availability....

I'm worried to try the Solaray formulation at this stage as my skin, stomach, and ovarian issues

get increasingly intense every time I get even mildly spammed after long periods of clean eating.

I had to buy Solaray tonight and will see how I react seeing as I'm incredibly sensitive

at the moment. When it's an emergency and you're w/o insurance, what can you

do?

Also - I do worry about the inclusion of Tea Tree oil in the Yeast Cleanse formulation

as naturopaths/herbalists all seem to concur that Tee Tree is not to be used

internally.

Hi Scott, You mentioned in your response that you have been taking supplements long term.  What brand(s) do you take?  I ask because I've had a very difficult time finding truly gluten free supplements that have not made me sick over time from allowable trace amounts of gluten within the FDA's acceptable limits. Thank you, Peg

Keep in mind that Dapsone can have some serious side effects, so be sure to look into those before you start using it. More about that is here: https://www.mayoclinic.org/drugs-supplements/dapsone-oral-route/description/drg-20063327

I suggest you look at your calorie intake. If you're not eating enough calories, your body will signal you to wake up and forage for more food. You need to be eating more calories than a healthy person of normal weight in order to gain weight. Also, your diet is extremely low in fat unless you are eating chicken thighs with the skin on, which I would recommend. Also be sure to add butter (real butter) to your vegetables. You can measure and record everything you eat, then look up and calculate what your protein/carb/fat intake is. Or just eat more chicken rather than filling up on vegetables and fruit.

Since your mother has celiac disease, I would still keep an eye on this as there is a genetic component. Study results vary wildly, but the numbers are that anywhere from 10% to almost 50% of the first degree relatives of those with active celiac disease will themselves develop celiac disease.
