Have Been Trying To Stay Away From Gluten- Lump On Back Head

I have been trying to stay away from gluten, though around every 2 weeks I make a mistake ( also have been trying to stay away from monosodium glutamate). I notice the days I've ated gluten my hiccups return, stomach symtoms etc... Before I go to my main point, since staying away from gluten my hair texture has improved as I've stated before it should. I'm starting to think I could have a thyroid problem, possible?

I have a lump on the left side of my head ( back of head). I can place my hand on it ( as if I'm placing it on my heart) and I can feel it beat, like the feel of your heart beating within your chest. What could this be? My lump is just being ignored, as well as my symptoms.... many think I'm making it all up, my imagenation, or I simply want attention. Though my rash, and other symptoms ( and the visible improvement of my hair texture) is all just being ignored. What do you think of my lump, thyroids etc.... I have many symptoms, some that I have almost got adjusted to and thought it was normal... and came to the stage of ignoring them, but now since veiwing symptoms of diabetes, thyroid, and other celiac symptoms it all gave awareness.

I also question... it seems like when I take vitamins before I go to sleep my body intakes it better/ more. Any ideals of what this could be?

Sorry, by whom are these symptoms being ignored--family, friends or doctors? If it's by doctors, you need to see different doctors. Is it a new lump on the head or has it always been there?

As to thyroids, many celiacs also have thyroid problems. You should certainly get it checked and again, if doctors are ignoring it, get different doctors.

As to vitamins, they're generally supposed to be taken with meals. You might indeed have better uptake taking them before sleep, but you're probably also damaging your stomach. Don't take vitamins without food, and eating just before sleeping is a prescription for not sleeping very well. Better just to take them with meals.

My symptoms are being ignored by everyone, doctors and family. Though now it seems like a few aunts of mines may be suspecting that I'm right with my conclusions, maybe after seeing my hairtexture improve as I said it should once my health improves a little. I'm seeing a physcrist Wensday and my mom completely told me if they perscribe medicine for me "take it." I thought that was just rude etc... since I know it's not a mental problem but health problem. I'm just really annoyed by all of this, I mean some people say well you look healthy to me. Just because I look healthy doesnt mean anything, and I know how I'm suppose to look when I'm healthy. I had the lump on the back of my head since my symptoms started, and that was about 8th grade. Though my original hairtexture switch throughout my entire life, but near end of middle school and throught high school it never came back. One of the best gifts ever is when my health problem is solved.

I had a lump on the back of my head, behind my right ear, right along my hair line. It got larger each year. It was about an inch long. It also pulsed. My dertotologist told me what it was but I forgot the offical name. Anyway, it was a bundle of blood vessels that had grown out of control and would continue to grow. My dermo said if I would bump it I would bleed and bleed and bleed so she removed it. It was very minor surgery. That was over a year ago and it hasn't grown back. It had nothing to do with Celiac or gluten.

Well it could be possible that I could have the same type of lump as you, though mines is in a completely different area. That explains why my lump hasn't been improving since I removed gluten from my diet, though other symptoms have. Yeah, the lump on my head pulses. I will just go Wensday and maybe the physcrist will order me to see a doctor and know I'm not crying for attention, or imagenation.

Oh yeah my lump does have symptoms as well, though I do know celiacs who have a lump and it relates to being celiac.

I should also mention one of the symptoms with the lump is changing shapes

Yes, I have concerns about the calcium supplementation as well. Sounds like a good idea on the surface if you are trying to address bone density issues but when overdone it can have the opposite effect. Calcium supplementation increases gut PH (i.e., lowers gut acidity) which can interfere with vitamin and mineral (including calcium itself) absorption. Often, bone demineralization is not due to lack of calcium intake but to low gut acidity. This is why you will often see calcium supplement products paired with vitamin C (ascorbic acid). Drinking OJ or tomato juice along with the calcium supplement can help with this as they are acidic juices. Calcium supplementation can also contribute to plaque arterial buildup I believe. I think it might be best to focus on rich natural sources of calcium.

In that case if you answer "no" does that mean the chef doesn't have to be as diligent?  If you ask for "pork free" do they ask if it is an allergy too? How's this for an answer: "I get violently sick if I eat wheat, barley or rye"?

I order my vitamins from Pipingrock.com. They also make Cream of Rice.  Clearly marked gluten free. Right next to the Cream of Wheat. Stoneyfield Whole Milk Yogurt will help repoputate your gut bacteria.  It has lactase so is ok for lactose intolerance. 6 ounces has 210 mg calcium. For magnesium I get the 10 ounce bottle of liquid Magnesium Citrate at the supermarket or drugstore ($3).  One or two ounces of it  in a glass of water.  Add ice and sugar if you like.  I like the Cherry or Grape best. Instead try: Cream of Rice, Cheese and Good Thins (rice crackers), scrambled eggs and gluten free toast. Do you need Calcium supplement?  Calcium from supplements can cause hypercalcemia, a condition that can lead to serious health complications.  Vitamin D increases calcium absorption.  Monitor 25)(OH)D vitamin D plasma and  parathyroid hormone (PTH).

The forms that vitamin and mineral supplements come in can be important. Bioavailability (i.e., how well they are absorbed) is often sacrificed for the sake of cost and shelf life. The vitamin or mineral you are targeting is always chemically combined with other elements to make them into a dispensable form (such as a powder, liquid or a pill) and to give them some chemical stability for shelf life.
