My only symptom is major diarrhea that has lead to wight loss. I only have it in the morning. If I eat gluten on a Tuesday, then I have extremely bad diarrhea the next morning from 3am to around 7am. Is that normal. Is it possibly not the gluten or something? I still have not been diagnosed I am waiting to get in with the doctor so I feel like my life is just in limbo rite now. I was feeling so good when I stopped eating gluten and then I got sick and have been for the last few days with my old symptoms and I don't know how I got gluten in me. I have been racking my brain and googling every ingredient in everything I was cooking. I have been only cooking at home and being so careful.

I went on and on. haha I was wanting to know about the time of day thing.

I had the same problem (though not to the point of weight loss) but it got better when I quit gluten. However, I'm still having diarrhea to a lesser degree and suspect casein sensitivity. So I'm giving up dairy shortly. You might want to try the gluten free casein free diet and see if that helps with your problem. (You might also be lactose intolerant, like I was (see sigline); that obviously would also get better if you went dairy free.)

Best of luck, I hope you find a solution soon, and welcome to the board.

For many years my D was in the am only but after I woke up. Once my system cleared I would take immodium and be safe for the rest of the day. Then things changed and the D would strike at any time of day and at the very end, for the last 5 years before I was diagnosed it would wake me up painfully every night and I would be up from about 2 am to 5 am until my body was done relieving itself of anything I ate the day before. The fact that you are being woken in the middle of the night by the D is a sign of celiac. After I was finally diagnosed my GI actually listened to me after years of telling me that I had IBS and told me that IBS does not wake someone up, it happens only during the day.

I seem to get D in the mornings also. Not to say it doesnt happen any other time of the day...mostly mornings.

I would be interested to know how many others have this issue.

Just had a letter through from the Celiac team, they’ve diagnosed me through my bloods, no endoscopy/biopsy needed. I guess I’ll be sticking around on this forum and I’m sure I’ll be back soon. thanks for all your help

I have no specific recommendations but I would suggest looking for products that are advertised as produced in a dedicated gluten-free facility. That should eliminate one possible route of cross contamination. It doesn't guarantee that none of the ingredients going into the product are totally gluten free but is should eliminate adding more CC to the mix via processing machinery.  One of the issues you may be experiencing is that testing has shown that a significant percentage of "Certified Gluten Free" products can test far in excess of 10ppm. There was an article appearing in this forum back last summer outlining the results of testing that showed this to be true. So, it may be somewhat of a pig in a poke when you buy this stuff, regardless of how it is billed. It may be safe for you if it actually fits within the stated requirements of it's billing.

I can still have a reaction from “certified gluten free” products I don’t like having to use the eat and see what my body does approach are there really any purely gluten free products or do I just have to make all of my own food?
