For those of you within travelling distance of Hershey, PA, the GIG Harrisburg Chapter is sponsoring a Gluten-Free day at HersheyPark on July 30th. Your admission price gets you into the park AND a catered gluten-free picnic lunch. I got the flyer from a celiac friend up the street (it's a very small world) so I might not have the sponsor correct; it doesn't actually say! Anyway, if you'd like contact information for tickets, you can email me off-list and I will send it to you

Joanna

oh oh oh! My father-in-law was just saying how he'd like to go there!

I think that would be quite a drive though. At least 4 hours or more. I'd really like to see amish country too. I'll see what I can find out about the travelling distance for us......

thank!-donna

Ooooh, we have to do this, too! My birthday is at the 26th. I could celebrate it then even better. And at the 21st I'm one year glutenfree. Woah, how the time passes. We guys could actually meet there. We will have a blast!!!

Does anyone else drive a Jeep? Camp Jeep is going to be in Penn. this year. The start date is shortly after the gluten free day at Hershey's. I'm checking to see what kind of gluten free foods might be avilable for camp jeep. Chrysler does a great job with this there is a family atmosphere, driving lessons, entertainment, crafts, activities of all kinds.

What is meant by "gluten-free" day at Hershey Park? Never having done this before, and I am sure others have same questions, what is there that's gluten-free? What should be expected going on that day there? Are all the restaurants gluten-free? Is there a website that will explain all of this?

Ryebaby0 sent me this email about it:

The information on the flyer says to contact Jennifer Young at:

jenniferyoung@hotmail.com

for more information. She can give you the address to send the payment, which for people 9-54 (and judging from your photo, you must be in there!) is $36.75 before April 30 and $41.75 by June 30th. The menu is Beef BBQ sanwiches, hot dogs and BBQ chicken, assorted picnic salads, gluten-free desserts and beverages ALL gluten-free.

Stef- my bday is in July too!! That would be awesome if some of us could get together there

Wow, that's need. My student who also has celiac will come with me and some of my team-members. They are very aware of this disease thanks to me, even though they don't have it. I kind of pounded it into them. Hayaa! No, just kidding! Yeah, that would really be great, if we could meet. And since my birthday this year is the last one with a 2 in front of the other number I definitely wanted to celebrate. Cause I think next year I will be depressed :P . I will mail this Jennifer right away.

I just mailed her and the mail came back to me. Is this e-mail right?

KaitiUSA Enthusiast

I don't know I haven't emailed her...I'm contacting Hershey directly for it....Talk to ryebaby0...she sent me the email with the email address and knows more about it then I do.

Yes, if you had symptoms when eating gluten ruling out celiac disease won't necessarily mean you'll be able to eat gluten again, although it might mean that you may be able to be less strict with your gluten-free diet.

Have you considered the possibility that you might have NCGS (Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity) rather than celiac disease? They share many of the same symptoms, the difference being that NCGS does not damage the lining of the small bowel. It is 10x more common than celiac disease. There is no test yet available for NCGS. Celiac disease must first be ruled out. In view of your genetic profile, I would give it consideration.

Hi, 25f who recently had a endoscopy procedure to diagnose celiac disease. Mum and uncle are both diagnosed celiacs. I've had symptoms over the past year - headaches that have become debilitating and frequent, feeling faint and nauseous with high heart rate, diarrhea and constipation, anemia, and recently my periods have become almost non existent. My doctor sent me a letter yesterday saying this " biopsies from the duodenum show some very mild features that could be in keeping with celiac disease but also could be due to other causes". I am waiting on an appointment to see him in the clinic to discuss this but in the meantime I wanted to check if anyone else has experienced this? I was eating plenty of gluten before my camera test and for the past 2 weeks have completely cut it out of my diet and I'm seeing changes in my bowel movements for the first time in my life! Headaches, dizziness etc are still there but maybe it takes longer for them to go away? Any help would be so appreciated -  I feel so lost in this whole process!!
