Hello, I was talking with my family today and we were discussing Celiacs and the fact that I also have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome..

I then became curious about it and was wondering if any other females here have PCOS as well? Could there be a connection?

It affects my insulin levels and was thinking maybe something about that has to do with it? I dunno..I could be way off- just wondering.

P.S.

Made some amazing gluten-free chocolate chip muffins tonight. Delicious. :)

Hi MaggieMay!!! :)

I have celiac and PCOS.

PCOS diagnosed in 1983, celiac this past January.

Both inherited from Mom.

Not sure if it's related.

PCOS is hormone based.

Celiac is auto-immune based.

Interested to see if anyone else answers this post.

PCOS may be caused by hormones, but we don't know WHAT throws those hormones out of wack.  those of you dx, you are on LOW carb diets, yes?

I am glad to hear you are not taking acid blocking meds as they increase gut PH which inhibits mineral absorption which, in turn, often causes the body to rob it's own bones of the calcium it needs for various metabolic processes. I was asking about that because acid reflux is very common in the celiac community.

I am not taking anything except for the multivitamins that I purchased from the supermarket.

The critic acid and sodium citrate is corn unfortunately and they don’t have to label corn because it’s not part of the top 9 allergen and not mandatory 😭

Yaya, from the JAMA study you refer to: "Taking 60,000 international units (IU) a day of vitamin D for several months has been shown to cause toxicity." No one on this forum is recommending  taking anywhere near that amount. We're talking about 5-10,000IU daily.
