Godfather's Pizza

Hubby - I call him "Fang" - had a meeting last week where pizza was provided. To his surprise, Godfather's had a gluten-free pizza for him. The box had a seal to keep it shut, warning against contamination. He brought the leftovers home, so I tried it. It was pretty decent.

Then, this Sunday, they had a flyer and they advertised that they now offer gluten-free pizzas.

Opinions?

I've had it - its pretty good, and they were very careful about preparation, etc.

I don't think I'd trust it unless they prepare it in a dedicated gluten-free kitchen.

Just went to Godfathers website. It says the pizza is made & sealed at another location. It does not mention if it is cooked on a wire rack that other pizzas are cooked on or if they use the same cutter to cut it as they just used on a regular pizza. I sent them an email & will let you know if they respond.

Its a nice one delicious.

Just received a reply from Godfathers. According to them: Pizzas are made in a safe place & wrapped & shipped to the shop. They bake them on fresh parchment paper on specified racks & cut with designated tools. They consulted with the Celiac Assoc. I'm excited.

That chain isn't near me, but there is one on the way to Vegas from here. Unfortunately, they don't carry the gluten-free pizza yet, but I think before my next trip out there I may call and request it. It'd be nice to have it at the halfway point. :)

My kiddos and I are all gluten sensitive, and we LOVE pizza! I am soooo excited that Godfather's carried gluten-free pizza!!! I know where we are headed tomorrow night!

Just check the website for Godfathers to see where they have gluten free - its not in every store. Also, when Godfathers gave me the info, they asked if you try the pizza, to let them know how it it: www.godfathers.com/gluten-freesurvey. The lady at Godfathers seemed to really want to make a good product so constructive criticism is good.

Per the Godfathers Pizza Website Store Locator there is not one single Godfathers Pizza in Florida that serves their Gluten-Free Pizza. BUMMER! :(

Our Godfathers Pizza doesn't have the gluten free either. But a friend just told me about Garlic Jims and I checked there website and they actually have a whole gluten free menu! I'm going to try it soon. Probably this weekend. I checked Florida, the only one they have with the gluten free menu is in Miami.

I tried the locator (I'm in Springfield, MO) and got the same result - no stores within 100 miles have gluten-free pizza. So I used the website "contact us" to ask if any would be coming, and got the following reply. The Nixa store is no more than 5 miles from my house!

We are currently working with the franchise location in Nixa so they

would be able to sell the gluten-free pizzas. They will be attending a

training class that will teach them how to keep the gluten-free pizzas

free from cross contamination. I anticipate them having gluten-free

pizzas at that location later in March.

Please feel free to contact us again if you have any further questions

about this product.

Welcome to the forum, @Bebee, Yes, Celiac Disease has genetic commonalities with MS, hypothyroidism, arthritis, Reynaud, and rosacea.   Usually a gluten challenge is done before endoscopy with biopsies taken,  however I would not recommend a gluten challenge before endoscopy with biopsies for you since you have been gluten free for so long and have so many concurrent autoimmune diseases.   You can still have the endoscopy with biopsy samples taken now.  After several months with dietary changes, you can have another to compare results and check that intestinal health has improved.   You can get a genetic test for Celiac disease which shares genetics with other autoimmune diseases that you have.  Eating gluten is unnecessary for genetic tests. For the rosacea, get checked for SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth) that could be causing gastrointestinal symptoms as well as causing skin issues.  Our skin is a reflection of our gastrointestinal health.     Following the Autoimmune Protocol Diet has been helpful in keeping my own rosecea, eczema, and dermatitis herpetiformis and other autoimmune diseases in check.   Be sure to be checked for nutritional deficiencies that occur easily in gluten free and dairy free diets. Keep us posted on your progress! References: Clustering of autoimmune diseases in patients with rosacea https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26830864/ And... I am new here, I have been diagnosed with Microscopic Colitis (Lymphatic) years ago and have been gluten-free, DF since, but I still can have occasional bouts of diarrhea (still trying to figure that out).  I also have MS, Hypothyroid, Arthritis, Reynaud's and my rosacea has been acting up lately.  What treatment is suggested to help with rosacea?  I would like to know too if there is a test for celiac if you have been gluten-free?   Thank you, Barb

Gluten free/ non dairy , low calorie pudding ideas please?

Well, that's interesting. I am lactose intolerant and have been managing that for years. I'd be interested in seeing if that changes once I feel better from not eating gluten (one thing at a time for now, though). Helpful to hear about the avenin. I will do some digging and pose that to the dietitian. Grateful for your feedback.

Recently my daughter ate in nandos harlow I rang in advance to speak about the celiac protocals and learned that childs portion chicken nandinos is cooked on the same grill as garlic bread even if they are celiac! Even if you clean it this is not good practise and will be making many children ill. I learnt adults butterfly chicken cooked on a grill purely for chicken.  This is fine and what we ordered however nandos need to take note of your practises for the safety of celiac children. my daughter has been ill from their nandinos chicken before and i emailed head office and they wouldnt accept responsibility
