Shared A Water Bottle, Got Glutened

GlutenFreeManna Rising Star

We went to a small amusement park yesterday. I took my own water and some snacks in my purse. We had a great time until I started to feel overheated. It was in the 90's and I was dripping with sweat. I ran out of water and felt like I was going to pass out from the heat. My loving husband found me a place to sit and offered me his water bottle to drink. I drank it without thinking about it, until today. Today I'm experiencing all the symptoms of being glutened. There was absolutely nothing I have consumed or used in the past three days that could have got me except that water bottle. While I snacked from my purse, my husband was sampling the food--pretzels, funnel cake, and a corn dog. All it took was for him to take a few sips from that water bottle and then hand it to me later on. I feel like an idiot. We have been really careful about the kissing thing. He knows if he eats glutened food he won't be able to kiss me until he has brushed his teeth really well. But this I had not even thought of until now. Oh, well, maybe this will serve as a warning to others. Don't share a water bottle!

Yes Maam, been there, done that. LOL. Except with a diet drink before I realized I had a problem with aspertame too. He was eating a sandwich and I started coughing. I was out of my drink so I reached over and grabbed his without thinking. I started feeling sick within 30 minutes. Bloating, stomach rumbling, the big D later on.

He just couldn't believe that I could get sick from sharing a drink.

Anyway, take it easy and I hope you get to feeling better.

Or a straw! I sipped on my Honey's soda yesterday and regret it today.

@CeliacPsycho246, You might try cutting out dairy.  Some of us react to Casein, the protein in dairy, the same as to gluten.

Yep, the edit window times out very quickly. It's okay. I got a good laugh out of it.

I wrote that by mistake and there is no where I can edit this.

I hope you meant "pen pal" instead of "paypal".
