It seems to me that gluten-free products have alot of sugar. I am only 2 weeks into this all new eating. Reading everything I can get my hands on. Since I am trying to lose weight too not crazy about the sugar. After being sick all summer sure don't want to eat anything I shouldn't. New diagnosis. And advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Just because it's gluten-free doesn't mean it's healthy! Gluten-free processed foods can be really expensive and not any better for you than normal cookies or sweet breads. If it's bread you're missing, look for Glutino or Udi's or pick up a gluten-free cookbook and make your own. I do buttermilk cornbread all the time, and I don't put in much sugar at all. Otherwise, just stick to rice and potatoes for your starches.

It is best at first to go with as much whole unprocessed food as you can. Go light on the replacement items, perhaps a bread or cracker but for the most part just go with naturally gluten free food. You will heal more quickly and it will be easier to control your calories that way.

Agreed. Dairy is just as bad as gluten for me.

Many probiotics start with growing the bacteria on a dairy substrate leaving traces of dairy in the probiotics.   Many Celiacs react to dairy in the same way as they react to gluten because certain protein chains in dairy resemble gluten protein chains.   @Wheatwacked ferments his own pickles.  Perhaps he can chime in.

Yes it happens if I eat yogurt to.

The AIP diet does have a vegetarian version.   Dr. Sarah Ballantyne developed the AIP diet for herself and her children, all Celiacs.  The AIP diet has been shown in scientific studies to promote intestinal healing.  You might visit her website.  https://www.thepaleomom.com/
