Does This Prove I Don't Have Celiac? Any Help Would Be Greatly Appreciated

I've been not feeling well for about a year after I 'caught' a relatively bad cold that morphed into a week long migraine, violent vomiting and then left me with fatigue and a constant 'full feeling' along with brain fog, fake arthritis (I have swollen joints that upon examination doctors will tell me is arthritis and then when they get the blood work tell me it is not but offer no other explanation)and myriad of other weird and random things. I was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome about 6 months ago, for which there is nothing that can be done. It was an ordeal even getting to that diagnosis. A lot of doctors would just tell me it was due to migraines and would refuse to believe that a 28 yr. old felt like a senior citizen.

Lately I have felt that the digestion aspect of what has been going on with me has been overlooked. I never feel hungry and I constantly feel bloated, have stomach pains after eating and frequently am constipated. I don't have D but when I do go the stool usually floats and has muscus on it.

Recently I've been paying more attention to what I eat. I know that after I eat pizza I feel worse. I did a few mini tests and tried not eating gluten and I seemed to have more active days. I went to the doctor and got a blood test. I started gluten free, dairy free, and yeast free the day after the test. I spent the next day throwing up all day. I'm not sure why or if that's normal.

My main question is about my blood work. I'm wondering if my test results rule out a gluten intolerance enough that I could start eating gluten and only worry about yeast? Which I have since found out runs in my family.

IGA, SERUM 330 (ref range 70-400 mg/dl)

TTG Antibody, IGA 2 (ref range 0-6 U/mL)

Thanks for any help anyone can provide. I'm a little too brain foggy right now to decipher the results on my own. They also seem to be different blood work than other people have gotten. I have read on here that some test results can give false negatives but I'm wondering if these values are enough to be pretty proof evident that I don't have a gluten intolerance. Which would be nice to rule out but if the no yeast doesn't prove fruitful either then I'm back at the beginning with no clue.

Thanks and good luck to everyone trying to figure out what's going on with their bodies.

-k

No those tests do not firmly rule out celiac. For one thing a comple panel was not run and for another even with a full panel false negatives are not uncommon. Your symptoms do suggest celiac or gluten intolerance. You may want to see if your doctor will do an endoscopy with biopsies to check your villi, but even then false negatives are not uncommon. After you have had all the tests you choose to have you should do a strict trial of the gluten free diet for at least a couple of months and see if it helps. It can take a bit of time to heal and we often have some ups and downs at first.

Hi All, I am on gluten free diet almost 1,5 year now and i have question regarding cross contamination.  If you are cross contaminated or unintentionally glutened for example  1-3 day with small stupid things like for instances you drank tea which does not have gluten free sticker) does this mean you will get almost instantly marsh 3b VA or any kind villious atrophy? Thanks!

Got so sick from the English muffins as well. I have had no problem with any of the gluten-free products at Trader Joe’s since I was diagnosed with celiac a couple years ago so I was so surprised when I got so sick on the muffins. It had to be the gluten in the muffins because there was nothing else to blame it on.

@Scott Adams Recently got blood work back and TTG antibodies went from 168.8 to 16.7 and deaminated gliadin was 22 (was not measured the first time). Is this a good start for an 11 month time frame? Just having a hard time with why my symptoms seemed to be flaring up again when my blood work has improved.

I’ve been through something similar recently, and I know how frustrating it can be when nothing seems to work. Based on what you’ve described, it might be worth considering dermatitis herpetiformis, especially with the family history of celiac disease. Testing could give you some answers, and while online kits aren’t as reliable as a GP, they’re a good start if appointments are hard to get. I also found relief through medical cannabis for my eczema, at Releaf, a clinic in the UK that offers eczema medical cannabis treatment. They start with a low dose, adjust weekly, and track progress through online consultations.
