How Do *you* Deal With The Pain/discomfort Of Your Reactions?

For the first time in a long while I seem to have glutened myself quite nicely! I still don't know how it happened, though I suspect cross-contamination was the issue. As I lie on my couch, curled up in a ball, holding my stomach (and making frequent trips to the 'loo'), I wondered how other people deal with their accidental reactions? Do you find that any pain killers help? What about anti-nausea medication? Magic bags?

I'd almost forgotten how uncomfortable/nauseating/painful/tiresome the experience of glutening is. Has anybody found methods of relief post-'oops'? I dread tomorrow when the sore stomach really becomes apparent. :/

Thanks for any advice you can offer!

I don't have any answers either. I was glutened 3 days ago and am seriously considering buyng some pregnancy clothes for when this happens as my stomach swells so much I cannot even fit into my normal clothes. All I can eat is boiled rice , bananas and mashed potato. My cc came from meat bought from a butchers. It had a crumb on it despite me asking to make sure it would not. I thought it would not matter after I washed the meat.

The butcher was laughing as he selected it. I feel so mad but what can you do?

Sometimes Tums help me. Sometimes they don't, though. The panic symptoms are helped by my lorazepam (Ativan - a prescription anti-anxiety med that helps with nausea a bit, too). Mostly for me it's just time.

Whatever your symptoms are, try to find a way to treat them specifically. Talk to your doc, maybe?

I would complain to his manager. It's one thing to accidentally get a crumb on meat and not understand the ramifications, but it's another to laugh at you. I don't think the laughing part is an acceptable way to treat a customer (or really anyone ... )

A well-placed letter of complaint might have some power. Not that you're trying to get him fired, but that he should be respectful of your food intolerances when you make them clear. Also, I would threaten to remove your business if they cannot give you bread-free meat.

I drink a lot of water to try to flush it out of my system, then some pepto for the nausea, tylenol for the pain and some L-Glutamine tablets 1000 mgs, to help with the bloating and to soothe my intestines. Other than that I just try to rest and take it easy as I can. I hope you get to feeling better soon.

Welcome to the forum, @Art Maltman! Ask your physician to order serum antibody tests specifically designed to detect celiac disease. That's the place to start but you shouldn't be on a gluten free diet some weeks before the blood draw. You certainly have some symptoms that are characteristic of celiac disease and you have a first degree relative that has celiac disease. So, I think this would be an appropriate request to bring to your physician. Here is an article outlining the various serum antibody tests that can be ordered when checking for celiac disease:   The physician may not be open to ordering a full panel but push for at least these two: total IGA and tTG-IGA. By the way, absence of gut pain is very common in the celiac population. We call them "silent" celiacs as they have no or very minor symptoms. There are over 200 symptoms and spinoff health issues that have become associated with celiac disease and the range of symptoms and effects produced by the disease in different individuals various tremendously.

Try using our search engine, but select articles, and in this case I also selected titles only: https://www.celiac.com/search/?&q=cheese&type=cms_records2&quick=1&search_and_or=and&search_in=titles&sortby=relevancy

About 5 Months ago I got a little bit sick and since then I have been having trouble focusing, rembering, thinking thought through, having pressure on my head and even just talking to friends normaly has become a challange. I also have been having yellowish poops. My father was has celiac but I am not sure if thats what is causeing my problems becasue I dont have any abdomnial pain like him. i have also tried going gluten free for a week with no results, but maybe i just need to try for longer. I have gone to doctors but they haven't had really any ideas as to whats wrong with me they just say it could be anything and try this drug maybe it will work. I really am tired of feeling terrible all the time and if any one knows if these symptoms are common to celiac or has any other ideas whats wrong with me please let me know.
