A while ago I posted that Baskin Robins told me they would make me a gluten-free cake if I gave them 24 hours notice. Welp I called thier bluff this weekend, hey it WAS Father's day, and I ordered a one it was great! :D Cant wait till I get home tonight for leftovers :D (ordered a 1/3rd of a sheet for just me LOL )

NOT Cheap though. :(

EDIT I should note here they did not know what gluten-free was, but they were very good aboutlistening to me, and they even took notes. At one point they even called me and check the indgredents of thier iceing to make sure it was okay!!

That's really nice...[that they would listen to you and be so careful]. And Happy Father's Day to you and the other dads here, however few there are.

That sounds good is it just ice cream or cake too!

My dh got me a clown cone from them once and he brought a gluten-free cone to them and explained that I couldn't have wheat. Well, they put a cookie on the bottom I didn't realize it until I took a bite.

That's great they were listening. Did they know of ways they could contaminate it while making it though? If they didn't know about gluten I would be very skeptical because where they prepare these cakes there is alot of ways it can be contaminated. If you do order it talk to a manager and then request a manager makes it...I know I worked at TCBY and the manager was very accomodating to special needs of people but the employees were a bit careless. TCBY will also do these cakes if you talk to them in advance(at least the one near us does)

Icecream only. Thier normal stuff is part cake part icecream, so they had to make it up specail. They alsed lots of questions, and were very good about it. :D I ugess I cant speak for any other location, but at least this one realy cared to take the time... I will be back. :D

Can we eat the icing? Is it gluten-free? Did you have them put any toppings on it? What exactly was the cake that you got? My b-day is tomorrow and the TCBY near us is closing so my Mom wanted to know where else to get a cake. This is great news, but i need to know more details please!!!

They read the list of ingredents on the Iceing and it was fine, but they were not sure about the "confetti" that they use... so I told them leave it off. It was just pure icecream+icing+decorations. I kept it simple for safty. Just call and talk to them, they need at least a full days notice becuase it takes that long for the icrecream to "set".

And I would double check the iceing at the one local to you since its a franchise, there could be some regional differences

Great, thanks so much for your help!!! :D

The owner of the TCBY I worked at would call whoever made where they got the icing from to verify if it was gluten free. If not, if you bring some in that you can have they will make it with that....not sure if other TCBY's do this but I know this one did

Thank you. I already cut out dairy and eggs because I found out I was having a problem with them. To be honest I’m just getting worn out 😂

Hi Kitty, thank you for your e mail,  I have seen a nutritionist who seemed to be happy with the food diary I had been keeping and nothing was mentioned about extra vitamins, and I’m still using milk etc . The steroids seem to be working and everything is functioning as it should however,  the course of tablets finish at the end of February and I have an appointment with the consultant early April probably followed by another endoscopy, as far as I’m aware I have not been tested for vitamin B and will definitely discuss it with the doctor on my next visit.

It might be understandable to say "friends or family weeded me or you out of their lives". Some people are fearful of getting out of their comfortable known lives and having to make changes to accommodate another.   If they are too uncomfortable to walk a mile with me, I shake the dust off my feet and journey on.  They're just not ready to learn that lesson.  But you confidently keep going on your journey.  They can catch up later.

You might also be sensitive to other things while you are healing. Dairy, for example. It won't harm you from a celiac standpoint but is inflammatory and could be bothering you. Have you been keeping a food & symptom journal? Might be worth it for a week to see if you notice something you are eating prior to the times you feel your worst. I hope you start feeling better soon.

Someone recently recommended Superfoods for looking up recipes free of allergens or intolerances.  It's a web site but there's also an app.
