Crock Pot Creme Brûlée is a winner...hardest part was finding good dish to use in the crock...since I did that last week, this morning was easy.

Will cook a tad longer next round....just hard to be specific with time because of variations in crock size, quantity of water, etc..but everyone enjoyed even though I thought it should have been more firm. I'll be doing again next weekend for the kidlets..they arrive Thursday .... Last I heard ;)

We had a super fun day grilling today!

What really shocked and surprised me though, is that apparently my inlaws decided that the gluten-free people needed a new grill. When we showed up for the cook out, they had actually purchased, taken out of the box, and assembled a 2nd smaller grill that is only for gluten-free items. Pretty shocking as I certainly didn't expect them to buy a whole new grill, we would've just put foil on the old one.

But, what can I say, my in laws are awesome.   My MIL told me that she covered the cutting board with aluminum foil before cutting the fruit for the kebabs, so that she wasn't cutting directly on the surface. I thanked her for her smart improvisation and then immediately gifted her with a flexible cutting board for next time so that she doesn't have to use foil on her cutting board.  :)

PS...on the Crock Pot Creme Brulee

Here is the recipe Irish found a few weeks back:

http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/2008/02/crockpot-crme-brulee-recipe.html

Had a thought after I posted last night...if you can get custard cups to fit in your crock...that would be a far superior way to serve so as everyone gets to crack through their own carmelized top :)

I made an on the fly chili last night with 3 chicken breasts, keilbasa sausage, black beans, kidney beans, onions, roasted red peppers, jalapenos, rotel tomatoes and corn. I used a homemade chili seasoning. Turned out so great!

Yummy....

Upon more thought...I will be using the crock pot brûlée recipe without the crock as I need to make eight custard cups next time.

Tonight is steak and trater tot cheesy casserole of some sort...along with a mix of roasted veggies for me.

I had to go look up a pizzookie. Then I immediately checked for BJs in my area. Not a single one in Utah. <_<

Last week my husband was sick with a cold. He got better and I felt fine so I thought I escaped. Until yesterday afternoon when it finally hit me. Who gets colds in JUNE!!! This is stupid. I don't know what he'll eat for dinner, but whatever it is, I won't be cooking. :P I think I'll mope around the house a little and lay in bed and read and nap. I'm sure he'll survive a night without dinner ready when he gets home since this is totally his fault.

Well then you need to come visit me, hahaha!

Tonight I am going to go simple and make up for calories yesterday... just grilled pork chops with green beans and carrots.

Last night I was outside hosing something off around dusk, and got bit up UNDER MY UNDIES by something.  I am so itchy.  That is what I get for not using bug spray!

Looks like Laura was on the menu last night!

Last night burgers, oven fries and cantelope.

Tonight - KFG lasagna

I can't use bug spray....I've got citronella candle by the pool and on my patio...hubs hates...oh well ;)

Ps...I've found those really pesky/weird placed bites come from bath/shower time or my favorite...I stick one leg out from under the covers to regulate my sleep temp and darned if I don't get bit on the exposed leg!

LauraTX Rising Star

I don't like to use bug spray and a lot of body stuff irritates me... I should go pick up a big citronella candle to have when I need it!  Too bad we don't yet have personal robotic bug zappers that seek and destroy for you.

I like the ones in the cute pails -- I think they are made by cutter...Target and Walmart carry.  I keep the lid to snuff it without having to deal with the smoke...another issue for me ;)

Having lived in the remote countryside for 16 years, I can testify: bugs will try to find their way into your panties no matter what you try to do to deter them...(much like randy frat boys.) You can keep swatting them away, but they keep coming around.....

The best way to repel them is to not shower or put anything on (lotion etc.) before going outside to garden or whatever. Stinky = no interest.

(much like randy frat boys)   ^_^

Looks like some of my menu has to be changed. Too many high histamime foods are biting me on the butt.... (i.e. all my favorites are a problem lately...darn it)  Nothing says fun like lip and scalp blisters, headaches, fatigue, wonky bowels, joint and muscle pain, heart palps and trouble breathing.

What's with the elephant sitting on my chest--oh that's right--it's just food I ate.

Goodbye  tomatoes! farewell my beloved gouda and cheddar, sayonara asian food with soy sauce,

caio shellfish and beans. See you in a few weeks!

I just love celiac and its tag-alongs.

Tonight: grilled filets, potatoes and corn. (see ya in a month, dear beans and greens) sonava&^%$!

Still laughing, no matter what.  B) I'm cool.

In Minnesota, where the skeeters are wicked thick, there is an old way to keep them at bay.  Dryer sheets!  Rub them on your clothing, put them in your pockets, around your collar, sticking out of your shoes...wherever.  I have done this and it works for me.

Or, you could grow citronella in pots and stuff those in your pockets.....

For dinner tonight.....dunno, I'm still drinking coffee.

Yep, next time I go outside I am going to light a giant citronella candle and let it diffuse before I go out, not wash my private parts, and stuff my self with dryer sheets.... LOLOL

Today I am going to make crock pot red beans with a little bacon to flavor them.  Will probably make some corn muffins to go with them, I use the KAF baking mix recipe.  And maybe some spinach for me on the side... my hubby won't touch spinach with a ten foot pole with two gloves over it.

  got the same hubs right here. I make him eat it. That's right. 5'4" me makes 6'4" him eat his spinach.

Now, I have a visual in my head of you with giant dryer sheet fake boobs and a giant poofy butt. Adorbs!

yeah, bug spray hates my skin, too - we do the dryer sheet thing.  also, they are great for inside the tent when one is camping:  just throw a bunch around and in the corners of the tent.  (and under the bed - yup, that's right, i made him get me a bed so the air mattress isn't touching the ground.  if the bugs want to make a meal of me, they're gonna hafta earn it!!!)   :D

hubs is in a 'turned down' truck this week (and last) so, he is waaaaaaaaaaaayyyyy slow and off schedule.  he actually left out yesterday to get loaded in michigan today, which he never does.  i am eating everything i didn't pack for him to take with him lolz.  it's 72 hr d.o.t., so he is making sure his log sheets are' extra special'.

the other night i put craisins and sliced almonds in the bullet and brushed honey on chicken & coated with cranberry almonds.  it was a pretty good combination :)  roasted taters & zucchini.

nonni's shrimp is what's for lunch - it's spicy & sweet & lemony & cajunish and i eat it with bread.

OMGOSH you guys - i breaded & fried goat cheese and ate it with honey.  it is my new favorite thing.  it's easy and filling and, well, YUMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!

all this talk about kfg making me want to crock out  ;)

(ruth - my mil is still offering me cake on a regular basis.  you *did* hit the mil lottery :D)

kareng Grand Master

going to throw some chicken in the KFG with a can of enchilada sauce on it.  Shred it up and have TACOS!

Not sure why Arlene's hub has to go all the way to Michigan to get drunk.... but.. to each his own I guess.

I thought it might be fun if we had a thread where we shared what we're cooking up for dinner:) I am not an experienced cook so coming up with gluten free menus for me and my boyfriend feels like a challenge. It's also weird since I only started eating meat since my diagnosis, so I have 0 experience preparing meat.

Tonight I'm going to try that Tinkyada spiral pasta with some gluten-free pasta sauce and gluten-free meatballs I got from TJ's.

what a great idea! I am having chicken, brown rice pasta and squash. Is Tj's like Fresh Market?

I think she meant Trader Joe's.

Hubs came home from his x-rays with brats and corn on the cob.....SCORE  :D  Was delish.

Jaws is playing at the son's theater tonight...they show old movies one a week...saw it the first time when I was eight in upstate New York .... Remembering not wanting to come home because that meant getting back in the water!!!!

So dinner is simple spaghetti for the men. Broth with some meat and veggies for me...guess that would make it soup? A bit tired today ;)

Adalaide Mentor

We were supposed to eat a pork roast for dinner, but it didn't thaw enough. <_< So we had burgers and fries because that's what my husband told me he wanted.

I was goofing off online because that's what I do when I discovered this evening that Grand Theft Auto IV has a mod that lets you play AS A GIRAFFE!!! Now, I've never been a fan of the GTA series of games and never had an interest in playing any of them. Until now. Suddenly my attitude has changed to "shut up and take my money!" except I'm waiting for it to be on sale during the summer sale. The waiting may kill me! You can ride a motorcycle, drive a convertible and use a rocket launcher. As a giraffe. I'm already giddy with excitement. :D

Last night I made a roasted pork sirloin with an herb spice rub recipe I got off of allrecipes.com. Served with brown rice and broccoli. I'll be eating it again for a few days.

As far as I know, miso paste is gluten-free and should be added to the Safe List.  And, shouldn't soy sauce be on the Forbidden list?

@PlanetJanet, Sorry to hear about your back pain.  I have three crushed vertebrae myself.  I found that a combination of Thiamine, Cobalamin and Pyridoxine (all water soluble B vitamins) work effectively for my back pain.  This combination really works without the side effects of prescription and over-the-counter pain meds.  I hope you will give them a try. Here are articles on these vitamins and pain relief... Mechanisms of action of vitamin B1 (thiamine), B6 (pyridoxine), and B12 (cobalamin) in pain: a narrative review https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35156556/ And... Here is the info from their website. If you don't trust them, you may find products that are labelled "gluten-free," but I don't see any reason to believe there is any gluten in them. Hi, trents, Thanks for responding! One book I read is called, Doing Harm, by Maya Dusenbery.  She has wonderful perspective and insight, and it's all research-based.  It's about how women can't get treated.  Everyone should read this!  I wouldn't mind reading it again, even.  She believes that women are so busy taking care of families, working, etc., that we are more likely to ignore our pain and symptoms for longer.  Men have women bugging them to go to the doctor.  Women don't have anyone telling us that.  We don't have time to go.  Providers think we are over-emotional, histrionic, depressed, have low tolerance to pain...Men get prescribed opioids for the same symptoms women are prescribed anti-depressants.  My car crash in January 2020 made going to the doctor a full-time job.  I grew up with 2 rough and tumble brothers, played outside, climbed trees.  I was tough and strong, pain didn't bother me, I knew it would heal.  But do you think I could get treated for back pain--as a woman?  I am so familiar now with the brush-offs, the blank looks, the, "Take your Ibuprofen," the insinuation that I am just over-reacting, trying to get attention, or even, "Drug Seeking."  Took almost 2 years, but what was happening was Degenerative Sacroiliitis.  I couldn't walk right, my gait was off, effected my entire spine because gait was off.  I had braced myself with my legs in a front-impact, slightly head-on crash with someone who made a left turn in front of me from the opposite direction.  I finally had SI Joint Fusion surgery, both sides.  It's not a cure. I have given up on trying to get properly treated.  There is so much pain with these spine issues caused by bad gait:  scoliosis, lithesis, arthropathy, bulged disc, Tarlov cysts.  And I can't take anything because of my bad tummy. Not that I would ever hurt anyone, but I can relate to Luis Mangione who couldn't get treated for his back injury. I feel so alone.
