Hmmm never tried a flea comb.,.will check it out..thanks.

We have been on trails all over the western states plus BC and never had issue...that is why we are frustrated..first year advantage ever failed.

Gracie wandered the woods in NY and never had a single flea. None of the cats either.....until the last year we were there.Started seeing fleas

on our feet as we walked on the carpet. Dang! so, what happened?

We had used Frontline for years, then Advantage. Then, the flea infestation.

Our vet encouraged us to switch up treatments. She felt they could lose effectiveness,

We have to use Revolution now---Florida comes with a different set of rules for pets apparently---

and heartworm is a bigger issue here.Just a suggestion.

Dinner last night was ice cream. And a cookie.

I am hoping for more sustenance today, but it depends on how well i can swallow....Soup may be the answer.

note to self: don't sip from the same water bottle as the hubs when he says "I think my allergies are kicking up"

That wasn't your " allergies',  dude.  <_< ah well....this, too shall pass.  ^_^

Went to the grocery store for milk and they had Nut Thins on sale so I got those, $2.50/box :D.  Now that most of the new labels are on the shelves, It sure was quicker picking out foods today.  I didn't get much but everything I picked up said Gluten Free right on the label.

SMRI Collaborator

Made chicken breasts marinaded in Walden Farms Bacon Ranch dressing--gluten-free and NO calories :D.  and then breaded with some bread crumbs I made from the ends of my Udi bread.  Nummy.

Hubs made cupcakes from a King Arthur (I think) box mix.  They are a little dry but not bad.  I got some Cream Cheese frosting to put on them.

I was rather under the weather for a few days. The weather overnight Friday night was stormy and when I got up Saturday I wasn't even sure if it would clear enough for me to go to the market since I don't use a canopy. But it cleared up enough for me to see blue sky over the lake to the west so I headed down. The weather turned out perfect too! Except that it was so cool and perfect it didn't occur to me not to stand in the sun like a moron all day, so I got burnt and ended up sick from it too. Derp. It's easy to forget that sunburn can happen just as fast in cool weather just as it cools off. Lesson learned.

But I'm feeling much better, so tonight was taco night. Tomorrow is fish n chips night. I think I'll make some rolls or biscuits or something tomorrow too. And chocolate chip cookies. I'm enjoying this new ATK cookbook way too much. ^_^

So sorry to hear about those of you suffering from illness. I hope you are feeling better, even at this very minute.

Tonight we are having:

Zucchini ribbons with roasted garlic and tomatoes

Sweet and spicy meatballs

Fresh Balkans feta with lashings of Istria olive oil, olives, tomatoes and capers

Chocolate swirl peanut butter banana bread, with a hint of roasted cinnamon

Now am off to pick figs and wild blackberries!

Even though I can't eat right now, I am so happy to read your post this morning and pretend I am eating with you.

I told these guys I heard from you a few times and that you were transitioning well to your new home, but it's not the same as having you here  "back at the dinner table" with us  :D

xxoo

Still feeling lousy, Going to make soup in the slow cooker....right after this short nap.

They're right, it is good to have you back! Seeing what you're having is always an inspiration to try new and interesting things.

A few ears of red corn were ready out in the garden so we'll be adding those to dinner tonight. First picked of the year. It has such an amazing flavor that isn't like any other corn we've ever had (which is why we planted this kind) and we can't wait for it to be time to eat tonight and it's still barely past noon! ^_^

Last night we had steak salad.  tonight I am thawing some chipolte chicken chili.

I've never heard of red corn..sounds really good!!

I have ribs out for dinner.  Hubs will be home really late so I may do two batches of them so they are fresh when he gets home.

GottaSki Mentor

Red corn sounds cool...can't remember where I heard someone was making "Christmas Enchiladas" with red corn tortillas...oh ya, it was on the funnypages from a grade school friend.

Tonight is Baked fish and veggie foil packets with a new dressing I picked up on sale 'Mango Chipoltle'.

Mango slices on the side.

Needed to leave the house today, so went to the store for a watermelon as a consolation prize. It'll be a perfect dessert for the night. The weather is delightful. Cloudy, cool, breezy. Couldn't be better. B)

SMRI Collaborator

Not sure what I'm going to make tonight.  Hubs has been working really late all week so I might just skip making anything tonight and just eat whatever :D

GF Lover Rising Star

Hubs picked up a watermelon last night too.  Eating it now with my coffee.  I salt mine.

Chicken Stir fry.  Wanted to try the San-J Thai peanut sauce but the grocery didn't have it.  Will have to try to make something myself. I never write down how much of what I put in and then - if its yummy - I can't remember what I did the last time!  Probably just melt a little PB and mix with soy sauce, toasted sesame oil, a few pepper flakes, maybe a splash of rice vinegar....

Kids are both at college now.  I am trying to use up stuff I have.  Went to the grocery and didn't get any chocolate milk or gatorade or crackers....  Sort of odd.

Kinda odd is right.  Last I went shopping I put his Peach Snapple in the cart, then almost cried.  Skipped the frozen food section all together.  Interesting thing is we talk on the phone more often then we ever talked when he was here.  Don't know if I'll ever get over him being on his own.

Hubs put a roast in the KFG, it smells good already  :D

love2travel Mentor

Thank you!  It is nice to be back.  We have now had the internet up and running for a consecutive week!  Yay!!  :D

Colleen, of course... if you would like Croatia pictures, I would be happy to email you some, if I am able to choose from the 873,601,274 we have!

Hopefully you are all healthy and back to your normal selves.  :)

Tonight is:

Roasted chicken breasts with slow-roasted tomato, red pepper and onion sauce.  Chicken pounded thinly to cook evenly and to prevent from drying out.

Herb-roasted cauliflower

Cucumber coleslaw

Fresh blackberry tart which I am about to make.  :)

Yes, I am still in the honeymoon phase here  but it is so marvelous to have access to such amazing fresh foods here!  I love foraging for berries.  I would like to for all sorts of mushrooms, too, but will hold off until I can go with someone who knows what they are doing.  And white truffle season begins in about a month...sigh...my weakness!  ^_^  Well, one of my weaknesses!

Something has been setting off my stomach the past couple days.  I don't know if it's gluten or just maybe a bug of some kind??  I haven't eaten out, house is gluten-free so no idea what it could be.  Only thing I can think of is maybe Rice Chex and maybe I just can't do rice for a while??  I've had rice chex with peaches the past couple days, Udi bread with peanut butter (that was new and not exposed to gluten stuff), Ore Ida hash browns--says gluten-free on the bag, BBQ ribs--BBQ sauce says gluten-free but I do a rub of a BBQ spice mix that is gluten-free and brown sugar.  Is brown sugar not gluten-free????

Yes.  Brown sugar is gluten-free.  Unless its left-over from gluten baking and might have had measuring cups traveling from the flour into the sugar?

There are a lot of ingredients in all those foods -Chex, Udi's, BBQ sauce, etc.  Hard to figure out what might be an issue.  Maybe try less processed foods for a few days?  I don't know what it is about gluten-free breads, gums maybe?  But I can't eat them everyday or my system gets "off".  Ore Ida potato products I could eat everyday......  and I have the thighs to prove it!

Brown sugar I just opened to make the ribs and since opening is in a brand new storage container so that should be ok.  I forgot coffee and coffee creamer, N-joy brand fake creamer but it says gluten-free online so who knows.  The coffee is "Donut House" , not flavored, Keruig stuff.  It's also hard to know if it's a response right away to what I'm eating--so the rice chex or peaches, or from last night, ribs and potatoes.  I LOVE Ore-Ida french fries and hash browns :D.  Did you know they sell chopped frozen onions too :D.

I use that Keruig coffee! I have been using the frozen onions for .........my whole life!

Anyway..... I am back to - cut out the processed, multi- ingredient stuff for a couple of weeks and see if you feel better. Then add them in one at a time.

That is probably what I will have to do...not sure what I'll eat for breakfast now though :D.

Tomorrow is International Bacon Day!

Awesome!!

Just picks up a few pounds of thick and along with a few pounds of regular sliced....whatever shall I do?

Hey where is our bacon dancing dude?

Dinner is fresh yellowtail...I can't eat it even seared of late so made some interesting dipping sauce for my sashimi slices. Hubs is eating light with me and then off to ride around the city in an unruly mob...just kidding...I just don't enjoy ridding in groups...too nerve racking. Just slightly bummed the monthly critical mass ride fell on a Friday night that I feel human and the younger men are all busy....oh well will plan a date night again later.

Oh hey...I do have a date...my new puppy I found while on a bunny hunt ;)

Happy Friday Dinner Peeps (will insert lover boy later when on PC)

Hi thanks for your response! This is the only other info that’s on my test results for the IgA. The initial testing performed in the Celiac Disease Reflex Panel is the total IgA. If the total IgA is <10 mg/dL, the reflex tests that will be ordered are the Tissue Transglutaminase IgG Antibody and the Deamidated Gliadin Peptide IgG Antibody. If the total IgA is >=10 mg/dL, the reflex test that will be ordered is the Tissue Transglutaminase IgA Antibody. Does that give some insight?  following up with my Dr early next week… thanks again.

Have you tried sheep's milk and goat's milk cheeses? After my diagnosis I could not tolerate cow's milk for ~2 years until my villi healed, but for some reason I did not have issues with sheep milk or goat milk cheeses.  I also had temporary issues with chicken eggs, but could eat duck eggs.

This is not a test for celiac disease, but your total IgA levels. This test is usually done with other celiac disease blood tests to make sure the results are accurate. Did they do a tTg-IgA test as well? Were you eating lots of gluten in the 6-8 weeks leading up to your blood tests? This article might be helpful. It breaks down each type of test, and what a positive results means in terms of the probability that you might have celiac disease. One test that always needs to be done is the IgA Levels/Deficiency Test (often called "Total IGA") because some people are naturally IGA deficient, and if this is the case, then certain blood tests for celiac disease might be false-negative, and other types of tests need to be done to make an accurate diagnosis. The article includes the "Mayo Clinic Protocol," which is the best overall protocol for results to be ~98% accurate.

Test results came back for everything that was tested now. Cholesterol is off the charts high. Not sure if that’s related to celiac, I have no idea how it could be so high. Also tested positive for H pylori  infection… is there a link to celiac and H pylori? Or am I just experiencing symptoms of the H pylori infection?
    • ChrisSeth
I’m reading that some sites list a high Immunoglobulin A result for my age above 300, another site says above 356, and other sites are saying above 400. I don’t know what to make of this result 🤷‍♂️
