Question About Igg Vs. Ige Testing

Does any one know why some doctors test IgG response to foods, while others test IgE response? What is the difference? I think they both indicate a food allergy or intolerance, but I am confused as to why one would check one as opposed to the other.

There is also the IgA as well, although I was told that this response indicated an immediate allergic reaction.

Thanks!

IgE are the true allergies. The kind that can be life threatening. IgG are sometimes known as intolerances. Both can be tested for via blood test but when we were tested for IgE they did the skin prick. I have IgG allergies and I do call them allergies because they make me very sick. I have an issue with garlic. It too makes me sick but it does not show up as an allergy on either test. So I guess I would call that an intolerance.

Agreed. Dairy is just as bad as gluten for me.

Many probiotics start with growing the bacteria on a dairy substrate leaving traces of dairy in the probiotics.   Many Celiacs react to dairy in the same way as they react to gluten because certain protein chains in dairy resemble gluten protein chains.   @Wheatwacked ferments his own pickles.  Perhaps he can chime in.

The AIP diet does have a vegetarian version.   Dr. Sarah Ballantyne developed the AIP diet for herself and her children, all Celiacs.  The AIP diet has been shown in scientific studies to promote intestinal healing.  You might visit her website.  https://www.thepaleomom.com/
