Sick-Mommy Newbie

I have been suffering for eight years with a horrible stomach condition and I desperately need to find out what is going on with my body. If I could just share my symptoms I have been having for years with everyone and see if it's symptoms you have experienced with celiac disease to see if I need to be tested or move on looking for answers. Thank You

*** Painful Stomach Ache (during eating or right after)

*** Sulfur Burps (so horrible - like egg burps)

*** Violent Vomiting then hot to cold

*** Achy Body & Joints

*** Weakness

*** Weight loss

*** Clumps of hair loss

*** Diarrhea - constipation (sorry)

I am only 26 and someday's it feel like my body has just given up on me and I can't handle it anymore. Any help or information anyone can give will be greatly appreciated and thank you for your time.

Hi Sick_Mommy.

I had aches and pains, weakness and constipation among many other symptoms. My son and I tested negative but chose to try gluten-free and it has helped us both.

Have you had any testing done, celiac or other? I believe those could all be symptoms.

You should get your thyroid checked and vitamin and mineral levels to see if you are low in any.

Celiac tests:

Anti-gliadin antibodies (AGA) both IgA and IgG

Anti-endomysial antibodies (EMA) - IgA

Anti-tissue transglutaminase antibodies (tTG) - IgA

Total IgA level

Deamidated Gliadin Peptide (DGP) Antibodies, IgA & IgG

I have been to the doctors and ER many times but sent home every time saying it's just food poising, lactose intolerant or the flu. I have not found any doctor that will listen to my symptoms and take me serious

Don't let them brush you off. I know this is easier said than done, but just say "I am not leaving until you give me a lab form for a celiac test." Explain how many years you have had the symptoms, how many times you have been brushed off, and say you need to know now whether or not you have this disease.

Yes, if you had symptoms when eating gluten ruling out celiac disease won't necessarily mean you'll be able to eat gluten again, although it might mean that you may be able to be less strict with your gluten-free diet.

Have you considered the possibility that you might have NCGS (Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity) rather than celiac disease? They share many of the same symptoms, the difference being that NCGS does not damage the lining of the small bowel. It is 10x more common than celiac disease. There is no test yet available for NCGS. Celiac disease must first be ruled out. In view of your genetic profile, I would give it consideration.

Hi, 25f who recently had a endoscopy procedure to diagnose celiac disease. Mum and uncle are both diagnosed celiacs. I've had symptoms over the past year - headaches that have become debilitating and frequent, feeling faint and nauseous with high heart rate, diarrhea and constipation, anemia, and recently my periods have become almost non existent. My doctor sent me a letter yesterday saying this " biopsies from the duodenum show some very mild features that could be in keeping with celiac disease but also could be due to other causes". I am waiting on an appointment to see him in the clinic to discuss this but in the meantime I wanted to check if anyone else has experienced this? I was eating plenty of gluten before my camera test and for the past 2 weeks have completely cut it out of my diet and I'm seeing changes in my bowel movements for the first time in my life! Headaches, dizziness etc are still there but maybe it takes longer for them to go away? Any help would be so appreciated -  I feel so lost in this whole process!!
