Pei Wei

I recently tried Pei Wei, an asian diner that is a spin off of P.F. Chang's. It's a national chain and is more a quick style restaurant where you place your order at the counter, get a number, and go find a table where your food is brought to you. I tried them because their website boasts a separate gluten free menu. I wound up actually placing my order online for a pickup at a certain time. I ordered their spicy chicken and vegetables, along with some non gluten-free dishes for my family. When I picked up my order, my entree was clearly marked with a gluten-free sticker on it. There were also two little bags included, one with Tamari gluten-free soy sauce packets and one with Pei Wei's regular packets.

The food itself was excellent. I had given up on being able to get any kind of breaded chinese chicken dishes. The spicy chicken was "breaded" and sauced, and it was excellent. I also got their chicken vegetable rolls which were tasty. Next time I'll probably get the sweet and sour chicken, as that's one of the dishes I really miss from take out.

Aside from only having half a dozen gluten-free entrees, I was really impressed. Give them a try if there's one in your area. (I went to the Mt. Prospect, IL location. Just opened.)

Wow. We went to Pei Wei the other week because I have had so much success at PF Changs. When I asked for the gluten free menu there were literally like five items on there and several were just vegetables. No Dali Chicken, no Fried Rice, no Lettuce Wraps - nothing! We ended up leaving and driving over to PF Changs.

I actually ate there tonight. I LOVE Pei Wei!

I've been there about 20 times over that past 2 years and have never even been close to cc'd. I eat there and RELAX, while I enjoy the meal.

It's not fair to compare to PF Changs, IMO, one is a full, sit-down nice restaurant. The other is a nice, quick service (but still nice enough to feel like you're eating "out") restaurant.

In fact, I prefer Pei Wei. It's half the price for the same amount of food, just not as big of a selection.

It's great for take-out too!

Entree's are about $8-9, the same as your "regular" Asian restaurant.

THANKS PEI WEI and please open MORE locations!

I'm with ya! The one here in Baltimore is fantastic and a lifesaver when I'm craving sweet and sour chicken.

I have been using the eye drops every hour and at night the gel drops as well as the heating mask. I have been traveling and kind of slowed on this routine, but it seems to be back a bit more now that I'm back at work (on the computer).  It seems strange to me that I would start getting this after a couple of months into the gluten free diet. Between this, the muscle twitches, the anxiety... I am quite overwhelmed. I can't find much on people whose eyes start getting dry AFTER gluten free.

Welcome to the forum, @warren031945! Use the search tool in the upper right corner of this forum page to find articles addressing your needs. I know there have been articles done on celiac.com dealing with the question of gluten-free cheeses and candies. Whether or not you could find something already put together in one place that is gluten free is another question, however.
