Ibs Diagnosis But I Think It's Celiac

I have had nothing but problems in the last 10 years----I am 37. First, depression and anxiety, weight gain, asthma, thyroid problems, canker sores, more weight gain. I have put on 100 pounds and now a size 20, although I exercise daily. I finally referred myself to a GI last month, who ran the celiac panel tests. Came back normal. Still, he did the endoscopy and colonoscopy and that was done yesterday. Doctors told my mom and I yesterday I don't have Celiac.....probably IBS; said I had acid reflux with mild stomach erosion. Told me to diet and exercise and come back in May for a follow-up. Gave me a prescription for the acid reflux. Also did quite a bit of biopsies and the results come back in 2 weeks. But why would he say I don't have Celiac? He must suspect it for the biopsies, right?

He can't rule it out completely until the biopsies are back. At any rate, you should give the gluten free diet a try. You're done with testing, so there's no reason not to. Try it for 6 months or so and see how you feel.

also- i HIGHLY recommend- that you request your own paper copies of the results from your Celiac panel- you would be surprised to know how difficult it can be to see a positive or a negative to them-> there's many antibodies they can check for. many times they miss the positive, or dont test for enough. my doctors are ALWAYS missing something in my results! seriously!

I just wanted to point out that the QUANTITY of exposure to eggs in baked goods would naturally be much less than if you were to eat a whole egg. I think that's why they appear to be tolerated in baked goods, but not as a stand-alone food.

I would agree. The tests do not indicate you have celiac disease. So, if you are convinced that when you eliminate gluten from your diet your symptoms improve, I would conclude you have NCGS.

My old results are: The Tissue Transglutaminase IgA antibody - 0.5 U/ml (for the lab I did the tests 0.0 - 3.0 is normal) The Tissue Transglutaminase IgG antibody - 6.6 U/ml (for the lab I did the tests 0.0 - 3.0 is normal) Immunoglobulin A - 1.91 g/l (for the lab I did the tests 0.7 to 4 g/l is normal) IgA Endomysial antibody (EMA) - < 1:10 titer (for the lab I did the tests < 1:10 titer is normal) IgG Endomysial antibody (EMA) - < 1:10 titer (for the lab I did the tests < 1:10 titer is normal) Deamidated gliadin peptide IgA - 0.3 U/ml (for the lab I did the tests 0.0 - 6.0 is normal) Deamidated gliadin peptide IgG - 46.1 U/ml (for the lab I did the tests 0.0 - 6.0 is normal)   Then I didn't eat gluten for six...

So it sounds like Global Foods has adopted the FDA standard for "gluten free" advertising.

Agreed, I am disappointed in the recent GFCO findings as well and definitely don't hold them in as high of a regard as I used to. I did find on the Global Foods website after posting that their required ppm limit is 20ppm, which isn't as low as I had hoped. I'll email and report back. Thx.
