Would Allergy Meds Affect Blood Test?

Hi-

I was wondering if anyone would know if allergy medication would affect a blood test? At the time I was on AllegraD, Nasonex as well as Singular. My blood work was supposedly negative. (I was told over the phone, I see some people have copies of actual numbers and test that were run). Anyway, looking back I realized I had been taking all of that allergy medicine.

Thanks

I don't think allergy meds would affect a celiac screening since celiac and gluten intolerance are not allergies. It might be helpful to post the results of the tests with their reference ranges. Some doctors will call a low positive a negative. That said false negatives on both blood tests and biopsies are not uncommon. When your done with all celiac related testing a good strict trial of the gluten-free diet will give you the answer.

Drs are required by law to provide copies of lab tests to patients. Most are very willing to do this.

No other tests. This was from about 10 years ago, I noticed it when checking through my all bloods to look for patterns.  I will go back to my doctor...

Were there any other tests besides the EMA run for celiac disease? If not, you should request them. At minimum, "total IGA" and "tTG-IGA" should be ordered. A more complete celiac panel would also include the DGP-IGA, DGP-IGG and TTG-IGG. And very importantly, you should not have been reducing gluten consumption in the weeks/months leading up to the testing blood draw.

I'm looking into it. I have several quite low vitamin results which I believe may be from malabsorption. B12, ferritin, folate, vit d all very low. Re-occuring mouth issues, gut issues.

Have you been diagnosed with celiac disease or are you looking into it?

Thank you. There is no reference range mentioned unfortunately.
