Trots After Eating Gluten

I consumed a portion of a large pretzel because my GI says I don't need to avoid gluten. Had pretzel yesterday;ever since,I've experienced IBS symptoms again, crapping all over the place. Not pretty. So could the GI be wrong and I am Celiac or gluten intolerant? I suppose I will never know as I can't get diagnosed, just going by symptoms.

To h*ll with your GI, he "don't know nuthin'" He can afford to say that because it's not his "trots" Of course you can't eat gluten - you know that, we know that - so what if he doesn't know that??? It doesn't matter, don't listen, put your hands over your ears, lalalalalalalalala.

Go for the gluten-free pretzels. You'll save money on toilet paper.

Yea they told me for years and years that I wasn't celiac and just to get more fiber and take these pills for all your other symptoms. You can see in my signature what that 'wise' advice did. I am assuming you were negative on testing but up to 20 to 30 percent of us are a false negative. If gluten makes you sick then listen to your body.

I have been diagnosed with celiac disease in November of 2010. Feel great ever on gluten-free diet :-)

Today I forgot to check the label on Pringles and ate half of the box.....

Is there any way to prevent diarrhea? Help!

Welcome to the board. So sorry you got glutened. Lay's Stax are gluten free so reach for them instead the next time.

If you absolutely have to once the D starts, and it may be a day or two before it hits, then Immodium may help. However if you can let your body purge itself of the gluten that is the better way to go. You may be in for a miserable couple of days but it will pass. If you get stomach pain Pepto Bismal may be helpful.

I don’t think it matters much if you trust the supplier, I get them from a Welsh company maesyffin mushrooms but I think the guy there has retired from growing now and just resells eu imports so it’s probably the same mushrooms he uses to make the tinctures as the company you posted. It’d probably be cheaper to buy dried and make your own tincture.

Thank you for your prompt reply. Have others experienced LUQ and L sided back pain when on gluten? Could gluten be irritating the pancreas to cause the slight rise in lipase?

Wow! I'd be interested to know where you get the tinctures. You can DM me if you wish. There's a Spanish company ... hifasdaterra ... who make high quality medicinal mushrooms in capsule form.

Jason, I have a bone to pick with your terminology. There is "gluten intolerance" which I believe is synonymous with celiac disease and then there is "gluten sensitivity" which comes from Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity or NCGS for short. It is true, however, that there is still a lot of inconsistency in the use of these terms.
