Gluten...the Devil In Disguise...plus A Weird Symptom...

Ok so, I went off of gluten for about 3 days, due to the doctor telling me my blood work showed I was Celiac, yet my biopsies came back negative. Within 24 hours I felt absolutely amazing, it was working. I went back to the doctor today, and they tell me Ive never had blood work for Celiac, and my biopsies are negative, but In order for insurance to cover me to go to a Dietician, I probably need a diagnosis and to go back on gluten until the weekend, get my blood done, then resume the gluten free diet. I either have Celiac or a Gluten Sensitivity. Either way, all I know is, Its been way less then 12 hours since going BACK on gluten and I feel miserable. Stomach pain, the big D, Nausea, chills, sweats. I hate this! Also I have a weird symptom ive never heard anyone mention yet. Whenever I eat gluten containing foods, I start sneezing within 1-2 minutes of putting it in my mouth. Is that all in my head? Or does anyone else have that symptom? As soon as I stopped eating gluten the sneezing stopped. All I know is I don't know if I can make it until the weekend. Granted its Wednesday here already but come on! I hate when doctors tell you one thing, and they say oops sorry we made a mistake. Could someone please shed some light on this? I requested no matter what the results are, whether insurance covers it or not, Im going back off gluten as soon as I get my blood drawn, and they are sending me to a Dietician no matter what. Feeling very very sick right now! Please help!

Call your doctor and tell them about your reaction to adding gluten back in. If you were only gluten free for 3 days they may be able to go ahead and draw the blood now. There can be false negatives with blood tests and biopsy so do keep that in mind. Glad you got such quick results on your short trial of the diet and do keep it up after your done with testing.

I don’t think it matters much if you trust the supplier, I get them from a Welsh company maesyffin mushrooms but I think the guy there has retired from growing now and just resells eu imports so it’s probably the same mushrooms he uses to make the tinctures as the company you posted. It’d probably be cheaper to buy dried and make your own tincture.

Thank you for your prompt reply. Have others experienced LUQ and L sided back pain when on gluten? Could gluten be irritating the pancreas to cause the slight rise in lipase?

Wow! I'd be interested to know where you get the tinctures. You can DM me if you wish. There's a Spanish company ... hifasdaterra ... who make high quality medicinal mushrooms in capsule form.

Jason, I have a bone to pick with your terminology. There is "gluten intolerance" which I believe is synonymous with celiac disease and then there is "gluten sensitivity" which comes from Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity or NCGS for short. It is true, however, that there is still a lot of inconsistency in the use of these terms.
