Intermittent Symptoms?

Can symptoms of gluten intolerance come and go? Seems like my stomach pains and discomforts will really come and go. Today I have felt better than I have in awhile and I ate quite a bit of gluten (having to get tested anyway, still). I have my normal bit of bloating but not a lot of pain or anything, and I was able to eat more than usual today as well. (Sometimes I can only eat a third to a half of a meal and then I feel stuffed full.)

Now I'm nervous to get tests done...I almost WANT to feel sick if I have to pay money and spend time getting invasive testing done! haha.

Maybe I just have a mild ulcer and some IBS or something...

My symptoms came and went for years. I would be sick one or two days a week and then GI wise would be fine for the other days except for a constantly growling tummy and bloat. It wasn't until the last 5 years before I was diagnosed that my GI problems were a daily and then day and night happening.

Do stay on gluten until all celiac related testing is done then when your done testing do give the diet a good strict try no matter what the test results are.

That's how my pain is. This year I broke out in eczema on my hand and even without the pain it seems to respond to gluten. My celiac tests were negative I have good success eating gluten Free though.

Thanks! One reason I've waited so long to get checked is because just about when I feel like the pain and discomfort is enough to be seen, it goes away, or at least enough to where its tolerable. haha.

Sitting here about to leave for my ultrasounds for gallbladder and whatever else.... just drinking the water for the tests on an empty stomach has me bloating up with gas. Is that NORMAL? For years, I assumed it was, but couldn't figure out why other people didn't seem as uncomfortable as I felt!

Welcome Connie Smitj,  Did you have a follow up test to see if the treatment for H Pylori was successful?  It's possible to catch it again, especially from a partner.  When I contracted it a second time my wife was tested and was positive for two of the bacteria in H Pylori.

Welcome to the forum, @Connie Smitj! Can you give us a little more history about your celiac journey? How long ago were you diagnosed and how long have your been gluten free? Do you have other symptoms besides quick onset of hunger after eating and gut pain? How long have these symptoms being happening?

I eat a gluten-free diet but hunger pains start within an hour of eating dinner. I  had h pylori infection before I was diagnosed. Occasionally I’ll have bouts of pain. Could it come back or is it just celiac disease?

Scott, am I missing something? For the TTG-IGA normal is anything 3 or less and his score less than 2. I think that one is in normal range. @Brown42186, if the GI doc is not interested in doing an endoscopy with biopsy of the small bowel lining based on the elevated TTG-IGG I would request a repeat on the bloodwork now that you have resumed gluten consumption again.

Interesting for sure. Have you heard of potential cross reactivity to casein (dairy), corn, milket, iats, rice, and yeast?
