Alba Shampoo Has Wheat In It Now

Alba has added Hydrolyzed wheat protein to their shampoo/cream rinse. My daughter pointed it out just a few hours ago. I bought this a week ago and have been sick all week, and also have sores that have formed on my head. Now I know why....GGGGRRRR.

I went to the Alba website and their shampoos/cream rinses do not have wheat in the ingredients list. This must be a new formula and the website is not yet updated. But all 5 bottles that I purchaed clearly state "hydrolyzed wheat protien" in the ingredients list.

The ones I have are "Alba Botanica plumeria replenishing hair wash" and "Alba Botanical gardenia hydrating hair conditioner". I've used this shampoo and cream rinse for for over a year, and it was gluten-free. Periodically, I have checked the ingredients to make sure it was still gluten-free, but didn't read it on this last purchase. I am soo unhappy, and they ARE going back to the store! I have 5 ickey big sores on my head from using the shampoo/cream rinse for one week, and I have felt crummy all week as well.....live and learn!!! GGGGGRRRRRRRR

The rule is to always read the ingredients list, no matter how many times you have purchased a product. <_<

I just bought some labeled in 2013 and there is no longer hydrolyzed wheat protein, they have replaced it with soy protein. . I have had no reactions so far so good.

Feel better!  I'm an Alba fan so not happy to hear that.

I doubt very much that it contains any gluten. It works by producing an artificial blood clot, mixing 2 or more proteins found in the natural blood clotting cascade. These are refined from human blood donations. It comes in 2 vials that are mixed immediately before use and clot quickly.

This literally happened to me today I had gluten after not eating it for over 6 months doing the elimination diet has I'm trying to get help with a diagnosis I ate gluten a few days ago and then stopped  because I went for my blood test today unfortunately it's not enough has I've now learned from some helpful people on this forum it has to be a lot longer before a test but my food today was really salty I just thout it was me because I'd deviated off my diet but I definitely tasted my  food  salty so that's a very intriguing investigation for me now thankyou for the post

Here is more info about how to do a gluten challenge for a celiac disease blood panel, or for an endoscopy: and this recent study recommends 4-6 slices of wheat bread per day:
